Buffering can occur for a wide variety of reasons, largely due to a slow or weak Internet connection. If you are experiencing buffering, bad video quality or connection error messages while streaming Stan, you may have a slow or unstable connection to the Internet. We suggest that you step through the troubleshooting steps below which will resolve most connection issues.

If excessive buffering continues after completing the steps outlined below, we recommend that you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). It may be that your ISP is experiencing a service disruption or congestion.

Troubleshoot your network connection+

It is important to have a solid connection to the internet with adequate bandwidth to smoothly stream videos on Stan. Please see our How do I troubleshoot any network connection issues? page for more information.

Change your video quality settings+

It's worth remembering that High Definition requires more bandwidth. If you find that you are experiencing buffering, you may want to reduce the video quality to a lower resolution. For steps on this, please click here

Are you using a Public Internet Connection?+

If you are trying to stream Stan while connected to a public network such as your work or school, please check with your network administrator to ensure streaming is enabled.

If your network is setup correctly, please try the steps below which will solve most buffering issues.

Disable DNS, VPN and Proxy Services+

Any active DNS, VPN or Proxy services may cause buffering due to edge mapping. For this reason, you may need to disable these services, such as Getflix or Unblock.US and revert to your ISP's original DNS settings instead.

Contact your ISP+

Your ISP has the ability to test and reset your connection which will clear any congestion you may have on your line. This in turn will boost your connection speed.

If your issue remains unresolved, please feel free to contact Stan Support so they can investigate further for you. To make things quicker and easier please include the URL or ID from your speed test that you conducted above.
