Cast
Looking for Alaska is the on-screen adaptation of the best-selling and award-winning novel by celebrated author John Green. Inspired by Green’s own high school experiences, it captures the friendship, mischief and adventure central to the teenage experience, while also exploring themes of social class, grief, and the search for meaning.
The series follows Miles ‘Pudge’ Halter, played by Charlie Plummer, a boy who memorises people’s last words and is seeking his great perhaps – which is why he leaves his hometown of Florida to attend Culver Creek Preparatory School in Alabama for his junior year.
It’s here that he meets his new friends and partners-in-crime Chip ‘The Colonel’ Martin (Denny Love), Takumi Hikohito (Jay Lee), and Alaska Young (Kristine Froseth, from Stan’s The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair), who’s wild, unpredictable and enigmatic ways capture Miles’ attention – and heart.
The novel has been praised for its unfiltered showcase of “what young love and growing up really are in a brutal and honest light” (The Guardian), and it’s in this spirit that the series has been created, with John Green serving as an executive producer alongside Stephanie Savage.
