Archives privées, Fonds F.-G. Pariset – Bibliothèque Mériadeck (Bordeaux)
Ce carnet accompagne et documente la préparation d’un ouvrage consacré à François-Georges Pariset (1904-1980). Son objectif est double : d’une part diffuser les travaux de cet historien de l’art, d’autre part mettre à disposition des chercheurs les données de la recherche collectées au fil de la mise au jour de sources primaires et de documents d’archives inédits.
Ce carnet naît aussi du désir de faire connaître la place et le rôle d’un historien de l’art ayant exercé à Bordeaux entre 1952 et 1974, spécialiste de Georges de La Tour, des peintres et graveurs lorrains du XVIe siècle ainsi que de l’architecture bordelaise du XVIIIe siècle. Retracer et remettre dans une perspective historiographique sa carrière universitaire mais également ses méthodes de travail, de l’enquête historique à l’analyse des œuvres par la pratique du dessin, constituent les principales voies que l’on se propose de suivre. Toute la pluralité du métier d’historien de l’art y sera questionnée.
This research notebook accompanies and documents the preparation of an ambitious study dedicated to François-Georges Pariset (1904-1980). Its objective is twofold: on the one hand it aims to spread the work of the art historian, and on the other hand it proposes to make available to researchers the important data we collected which is mainly composed by primary sources and unpublished archives.
This notebook also illustrates our wish to make known the place and the role of an art historian who worked in Bordeaux between 1952 and 1974, one of Georges de La Tour’s first specialists, but also of the painters and engravers of the 16th century Lorraine, as well as the 18th century Bordeaux architecture. Tracing and replacing in a historiographical perspective his academic career, but also his methodology – from the historical investigation to the analysis of art works with the help of the practice of drawing –, are the main paths that we chose to follow. The plurality of the profession – that of an art historian –, will be thus questioned.
