I thought it was time for a change. I’m still playing with it, and it could easily change again, but I was tired of the old look and wanted to try something different. Once I get the logo looking better, I’ll start posting again. I’ve got a few good ones queued up, so stand-by.
Until I start posting again, here are some YouTube clips.
Huskers
Destroy!
This is always a fun thing to find. I shot this video in my basement, gave it to Felix who sold a bunch of them….years later someone else rips the video to post on YouTube, and I find it to post in my blog. Hard to believe this was almost 20 years ago! (damn I’m old)
Mighty Mofo’s
Finally, the Mofo’s are a big part of the reason I am who I am today, so I always celebrate my personal local heros!
Great document of the label that put MN on the map, and helped to spawn some of the biggest punk/hardcore/indie-rock bands in the land. There is no denying the importance of this label and what they did for Minnesota. Even bands that never put out a single release on the label were helped out by them (think Husker Du and many others). They spawned the Suburbs, Suicide Commandos, Replacements, Soul Asylum, (my favorite) The Magnolias and many others.
When I started my label the folks at Twin Tone gave me some great advice, and when I did my video show, they helped me out then too, and I’m not the only person they ever helped. I was just some dumb kid that I doubt anyone there would ever remember. So even if the Twin Tone bands aren’t your speed, you need to give them a lot of credit for all the work they did.
So…the comp….. Well, this is filled with the typical Twin Tone bands. Just download it already. Great record!
Finally! I have been searching for this for YEARS! I own the LP, I own the 7". Unfortunatly the 2 bonus tracks on the cassette are not the same two tracks on the 7" as I thought. Nowhere to go is exclusive to this cassette, and it’s a great track that has been worth the years of searching to finally find. Hell yes!!!
Those that know me, know that I think the world of the Mofos. They are partially responsible for making me the person that I am today. I chose my career in TV because I saw them on public access (where the Mighty EP was recorded) and it changed my life! Years later, you will always find at least one Mofos song on my Zune at all times!
Thank god they’re still rockin’! Long live the Mofos!
Hands down one of my favorite local bands. Garage punk before most people knew what punk was. This was from the poorly produced (muddy) Treehouse Records LP, with a bonus non-LP track. Get it anyway because these guys know how to rock!

My name is Dave, and I grew up in Minnesota listening to the many punk & hard core bands that I'm featuring here. More important though, is that I'm not just posting the stuff that like, but I'm making an attempt to document every band that had something to do with the punk scene in Minnesota. From your Husker Du & Replacements to Dirt Poor & the Kung Fools. Bands that played bars, and bands that played basements and garages. I'd like it all represented here.
I'd also like your help. I can't possible do it all by myself, so if you want to see something here, let me know. If you see something on the net that deserves a mention here, let me know. If you'd like to contribute, let me know.
If you are in a band that I've posted here, and you want your stuff removed, just ask, and it will be removed. Most of my posts are links to other people's posts. Some of it is from my personal record collection. It is my intent to only post stuff that you can not otherwise buy. Long out of print stuff. If I link to stuff that is in print, I will try to include a link to actually purchase it. That won't happen very often though, since I try to post only stuff that I know to be out of print. If the band has an official website, I'll try to post a link to it. If I get something wrong, or you'd like to contribute something, let me know.
All I ask is that you enjoy the crap I post and if you have any suggestions, send me an email at: webbastard at mnpunk.com
