  3. Dear a friend applied for a UK Visa over a month ago. They’ve had to reschedule their ticket because there’s no info on the visa. You’re neither granting nor denying a visa, nor offering any info on whether they should cancel & reapply for priority visa 🙏🏽

Why increasing the legal age of marriage will end up controlling the autonomy of young girls and penalising them for their sexual choices.

Child marriage must be stopped. Adults should be left free to decide for themselves if & when they are ready for marriage. Let the government ensure education for all and expand job opportunities and not incriminate people who may end up marrying early because of circumstances.

The age of marriage for all adults should be 18. If you’re old enough to choose a government, decide the country’s future you’re old enough to decide your own future; to marry or not. Support women’s autonomy, don’t force women to marry, don’t criminalise consensual relationships

If 18-year-olds can choose governments, why deny them the right to choose whether, when and whom to marry? Thank you for asking this logical question and demanding withdrawal of the cabinet proposal to raise the . Make it 18 for both women and men.

Absolutely agree. The decision to increase the age of marriage for women isn't going to prevent early marriages. In fact the parents who waited till 18 will now not do so. Girls over 18 should have a say over their lives, this decision takes away their right to choose.

  19. The problem with public discourse around the Cabinet proposal to increase age of marriage for women, is that it is assumed that decisions regarding women’s marriage are for EITHER parents OR Govt to make. The point is that the decision belongs only to adult 18-20 yo women!

Read 👇🏾 and try and grasp the grave danger at hand. Practically, the Govt anyway doesn’t act against parents conducting (illegal) child marriages. Instead it acts against adult women’s autonomous love, marriage - and the Cabinet proposal will only allow that.
