TechCamp Kosovo 2021: Countering Disinformation in the Balkans is closer than ever! 📣📣

From 28-30 October, 25 local and 20 regional participants will compete for funding on projects that help journalists better detect and inform their audiences about fake news, trolls, disinformation, and how best to discredit disinformation on their platforms.

This interactive, intensive three-day program will be facilitated by Douglas Arellanes. Regional and international experts Dardan Prebreza, Blerta Blakaj, Kreshnik Gashi, Serbeze Haxhiaj, Jarmila Fekiacova, Valdet Salihu, and Tomas Rakos will join and share best practices as trainers.

🎉 Last week, FLOSSK participated in the annual meeting of partner organizations of Southeast Europe in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program which was held in Bar, Montenegro. Together with 👥 representatives of other participating organizations, we exchanged experiences and working methods in the program as well as our work with volunteers.
The ESC program offers engagement of young people and organizations in volunteer work as a way to strengthen cooperation, solidarity, democracy, and active citizenship. 🙌🏼Some of the specific objectives of the program are digital transformation, participation in democratic life, inclusion and diversity, environmental protection and sustainable development and prevention, promotion, and support in health.

Kishim nderin të presim në takim Kryeministrin e Republikës së Kosovës, z. Albin Kurti, Ministren e Industrisë, Ndërmarrësisë dhe Tregtisë, znj. Rozeta Hajdari, si dhe Këshilltarin e Kryeministrit Kurti për Teknologji të Informacionit, z. Lulëzon Jagxhiu.

Gjatë takimit u prezantua puna e FLOSSK për zhvillimin e sektorit të teknologjisë në Kosovë duke përfshirë përdorimin e open source dhe angazhimin e të rinjve. Të ftuarit po ashtu u njoftuan më shumë mbi konferencat ndërkombëtare të teknologjisë që FLOSSK po synon t’i organizojë në Kosovë.

Në takim u diskutuan edhe disa nga prioritetet në fushën e digjitalizimit dhe inovacionit si legjislacioni, e-qeverisja, digjitalizimi në arsim, zhvillimi i kapaciteteve njerëzore në fushën e TIK dhe hulumtimi.

Z. Kurti tregoi se Qeveria të cilin ai e drejton është e hapur për mbështetje dhe një ndër objektivat e saj është gjetja e kuadrove në fushën e teknologjisë dhe lidhja e e-qeverisjes me arsimin, shëndetësinë dhe industrinë.

Znj. Hajdari tregoi për planet e Ministrisë dhe synimin për përfshirjen e të rinjve në avancimin e teknologjisë në Kosovë. Mes tjerash, ajo gjithashtu tregoi për synimet për digjitalizimin e turizmit dhe përmirësimin e imazhit të Kosovës përmes këtyre aktiviteteve.

Z. Jagxhiu foli për mungesën e numrit të mjaftueshëm të kuadrove të kualifikuar dhe për fokusin e Qeverisë për digjitalizim në arsim por edhe e-qeverisje.

Mysafirët gjithashtu shprehën përkushtimin e qeverisë që sistemet qeveritare që zhvillohen të ofrojnë sa më shumë mundësi për të gjeneruar të dhëna të hapura, që do të ndikojë në rritjen e transparencës dhe llogaridhënies.

We had the honor to host in a meeting the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, as well as the Advisor to Prime Minister Kurti for Information Technology, Mr. Lulëzon Jagxhiu.

During the meeting, FLOSSK’s work for the development of the technology sector in Kosovo was presented, including the use of open source and youth engagement. The guests were also informed about the international technology conferences that FLOSSK aims to organize in Kosovo.

Some of the priorities in the field of digitalization and innovation such as legislation, e-government, digitalization in education, human capacity development in the field of ICT, and research were also discussed.

Mr. Kurti stated that the Government is open for support and one of their objectives is to find qualified staff in the field of technology and link e-government with education, health, and industry.

Mrs. Hajdari presented the Ministry’s plans for the engagement of young people in advancing technology in Kosovo. Among others, she also spoke about the goals for the digitalization of tourism and improving the image of Kosovo through these activities.

Mr. Jagxhiu spoke about the lack of a sufficient qualified workforce and about the Government’s focus on digitalization in education but also e-government.

The guests also expressed the government’s commitment that the governing systems that are being developed provide as many opportunities as possible to generate open data, which will increase transparency and accountability.
