The first of the AFI 100 Years... series of cinematic milestones, AFI's 100 Years…100 Movies is a list of the 100 best American movies, as determined by the American Film Institute from a poll of more than 1,500 artists and leaders in the film industry who chose from a list of 400 nominated movies. The 100-best list was unveiled in 1998.
A 145-minute presentation of the 100 films aired on CBS. A 460-minute version aired as a 10-part series on TNT, hosted by Jodie Foster, Richard Gere, Sally Field and narrated by James Woods. An updated version of the list, billed as a 10th Anniversary edition, aired on CBS on June 20, 2007, and was hosted by Morgan Freeman. The AFI website notes that, "Due to licensing restrictions, the telecasts of the AFI 100 Years...100 Series are not available for distribution or purchase on DVD or VHS."
Films were judged according to the following criteria.
AFI's 100 Years…100 Movies – 10th Anniversary Edition was the 2007 updated version of 100 Years… 100 Movies. The original list was first unveiled in 1998.
Announced on January 18, 2007, this 10th installment of the American Film Institute's (AFI) Emmy Award-winning AFI 100 Years... series counted down the 100 greatest American movies of all time in a three-hour television event. Aired June 20, 2007 on CBS, it was hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. The program considered classic favorites and newly eligible films released from 1997 to 2005.
AFI will conduct the poll every ten years to include new releases.
AFI asked jurors to consider the following criteria in their selection process:
AFI is a retrospective by American rock band AFI. It was released on November 2, 2004 through Nitro Records. The band did not sanction its release; however, it managed to peak at #88 on the Billboard 200.
AFI contains fifteen tracks previously released through Nitro Records, all of which are listed in order by release date. Explicit and clean versions were released; however, the digital version among iTunes contains all the tracks from both releases.
The album each song was originally released on is listed next to the title.
A millennium (plural millennia) is a period of time equal to 1000 years. It derives from the Latin mille, thousand, and annus, year. It is often, but not always, related to a particular dating system.
Sometimes, it is used specifically for periods of a thousand years that begin at the starting point (initial reference point) of the calendar in consideration (typically the year "1"), or in later years that are whole number multiples of a thousand years after it. The term can also refer to an interval of time beginning on any date. Frequently in the latter case (and sometimes also in the former) it may have religious or theological implications (see millenarianism). Sometimes in use, such an interval called a "millennium" might be interpreted less precisely, i.e., not always being exactly 1000 years long. It could be, for example, 1050, etc.
There are two methods of counting years, current years (the count begins at the epoch) and elapsed years (the count is of completed years since the epoch). This latter method is used in India.
Kiss is the debut album by American rock band Kiss, released on February 18, 1974. Much of the material on the album was written by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as members of their pre-Kiss band Wicked Lester. Simmons estimated that the entire process of recording and mixing took three weeks, while co-producer Richie Wise has stated it took just 13 days.
The album was recorded at Bell Sound Studios in New York City, which was owned by the company that owned Buddah Records. Neil Bogart, founder of Casablanca Records, was an executive at Buddah prior to forming Casablanca. Casablanca Records held a party at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles to celebrate the West Coast release of Kiss (February 18) and to introduce the record company to the press and other record industry executives.
Kiss began their first album tour with a performance at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta on February 5, 1974. A few weeks later, they made their first national TV appearance on ABC's In Concert, followed by a performance of Firehouse on The Mike Douglas Show. During the interview portion of the show, Gene Simmons declared himself to be "evil incarnate", eliciting nervous, confused reactions from the studio audience, to which comedian Totie Fields humorously commented, "Wouldn't it be funny if he's just a nice Jewish boy underneath the makeup?" Although neither confirming or denying his Jewish heritage, Simmons replied, "You should only know", to which, Fields countered, "I do. You can't hide the hook", referring to Simmons' nose.

Movies@ Ltd. is a cinema chain in the Republic of Ireland. The company opened its first multiplex cinema at the Dundrum Town Centre on 1 October 2005, with 12 screens. Other sites include the Pavilions Centre, Swords (11 screens) which opened in mid November 2006, and Gorey, Co. Wexford. A branch was proposed to be located in Salthill, County Galway (10 screens) in Autumn 2007, but has not yet opened.
The company bears some resemblance to the largest Irish cinema chain, the Ward Anderson group, in that it is a family owned business run by members of two families, in this case the O'Gorman family (who ran the Ormonde Cinema in Stillorgan) and the Spurling family who are also involved in rural cinemas, albeit having closed one (Enniscorthy) due to being in relative proximity to a Movies@ site.

This is all I have. The tape I recorded this on in 2003, only held 120 mins. & I failed to change the record settings at the time. Enjoy what I was able to get!
This is a musical montage I put together based on AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies Quotes. The list was made in 2005 and was first aired on CBS as a special to commemorate the 100 greatest quotes as voted by 1500 critics, artists, and historians. For more information and the full list of quotes click here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years%E2%80%A6100_Movie_Quotes The montage has all 100 quotes including the one I added from It's a Wonderful Life (101 total). It also has Bette Davis' "What a dump" quote, which I was missing in both previous montages. Here are the films used in the order they are shown. Note that some are repeated and are not listed more than once. 1. Casablanca 2. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 3. Sunset Boulevard 4. Citizen Kane 5. All About Eve 6....

The sun is warm as the day is long
Just got the feeling I can do no wrong
Got a long way to walk can't afford my next meal,
I tell a few lies, but my hunger is real and it...
Chorus:
won't mean thing in 100 years
no it won't mean a thing in 100 years
Mademoiselle tell me do you play
well if she shakes her head well
then that's OK
I watch her walk away in haste
there's just no accounting for
some people's taste
and it...
Chorus
Big angry men in the doorway there
Just keep on walking like I don't care
Why you giving such an evil eye
could it be you were ignored by
every passerby
and it...
Chorus
Play in the park for tobacco and food
then I excuse myself but they think I'm rude
Tourist don't want me to end his show
but this colorful attraction got
place to go
and it...
Chorus
Sit at the pier watch the sun go down
Another lost little boy in a big old town
I want to laugh, I want to cry
but no matter how hard I may try
