The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a sovereign state in the European Union. The current monarch—since 6 February 1952—is Queen Elizabeth II. The UK consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The latter three have devolved administrations, each with varying powers, based in their capitals, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, respectively. The nearby Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey are not part of the United Kingdom, being Crown dependencies with the British Government responsible for defence and international representation.

It was recorded primarily for the UK, where the band had a larger following than in their native USA, and consists of a mixture of studio and live tracks. The LP was produced by Tom Mallon who also produced the band's previous three LPs, The Restless Stranger, Engine and California. United Kingdom contained the song "Kathleen", the most obvious of many that Mark Eitzel has composed about his long-term muse, Kathleen Burns.

Overlooked at the time of release `Just Another Diamond Day` by female folkie `Vashti Bunyan` has become a hugely sought after rarity. So hard to find now the 1970 UK 1st Issue on the Black/Silver Phillips label (6308 019) in Gatefold Sleeve that it sells for well over a thousand GBP, some copies have reached £1400. Even an average copy is a worthwhile investment of this one – check out my other youtube rarities

Just Another Diamond Day is the great debut album by United Kingdom singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan.
In the mid to late 1960s, Bunyan was under contract to Andrew Oldham, which saw her release two singles. However, Bunyan found the experience frustrating, and decided to head for the Scottish islands in search of an artistic commune supposedly established by Donovan. She travelled around the countryside with her partner Robert, in a horse-drawn wagon. It was during these travels that she wrote the songs which would later appear on Just Another Diamond Day.
Bunyan returned to London where she was urged by producer Joe Boyd to record her songs while they were still fresh. The recording session took place throughout December 1969 at Sound Techniques in London. Song arrangements were performed by Robert Kirby, who also worked with Nick Drake. Members of Fairport Convention and Incredible String Band contributed to some tracks. The album was initially released in 1970 but was a commercial failure and Bunyan retired from music for many years.

Entity Linking or Entity Disambiguation refers to the task of aligning unstructured text to collections of linked data. Given a text that mentions an entity, the task is to establish a link between any substring that refers to an entity to the entity's entry in the knowledge base. For instance, in a text about the American University of Beirut, we want to identify all of the substrings that refer to AUB and annotate them with links into the knowledge base. In this talk we use Wikipedia as our example knowledge base, but approaches are directly applicable to any other collection of Linked Data.
A solution for Entity Linking is the key to extract more knowledge, such as facts and relations from text; Entity Linking provides the means to improve text retrieval (IR) and linked data retrieval.
In this talk I am going to cover several approaches to Entity Linking from simple to complex and discuss advantages and shortcomings. Different approaches will make use of natural language processing, information retrieval, machine learning and graphical probabilistic models.
Bio
Dr. Laura Dietz is a post-doctoral researcher working with Bruce Croft at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) at the University of Massachusetts. Before that she was working with Andrew McCallum at University of Massachusetts. She obtained her doctoral degree with a thesis on topic models for networked data from Max Planck Institute for Informatik in early 2011, being supervised by Tobias Scheffer and Gerhard Weikum.

The current monarch—since 6 February 1952—is Queen Elizabeth II. The UK consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The latter three have devolved administrations, each with varying powers, based in their capitals, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, respectively. The nearby Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey are not part of the United Kingdom, being Crown dependencies with the British Government responsible for defence and international representation.

The Official Chart, broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and MTV (Official UK Top 40), is the UK music industry's recognised official measure of singles and albums popularity because it is the most comprehensive research panel of its kind, today surveying over 15,000 retailers and digital services daily, capturing 99.9% of all singles consumed in Britain across the week, and over 98% of albums. Just Another Diamond Day is the great debut album by United Kingdom singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan.
In the mid to late 1960s, Bunyan was under contract to Andrew Oldham, which saw her release two singles. However, Bunyan found the experience frustrating, and decided to head for the Scottish islands in search of an artistic commune supposedly established by Donovan. She travelled around the countryside with her partner Robert, in a horse-drawn wagon. It was during these travels that she wrote the songs which would later appear on Just Another Diamond Day.
Bunyan returned to London where she was urged by producer Joe Boyd to record her songs while they were still fresh. The recording session took place throughout December 1969 at Sound Techniques in London. Song arrangements were performed by Robert Kirby, who also worked with Nick Drake. Members of Fairport Convention and Incredible String Band contributed to some tracks. The album was initially released in 1970 but was a commercial failure and Bunyan retired from music for many years.

Abstract
Entity Linking or Entity Disambiguation refers to the task of aligning unstructured text to collections of linked data. Given a text that mentions an entity, the task is to establish a link between any substring that refers to an entity to the entity's entry in the knowledge base. For instance, in a text about the American University of Beirut, we want to identify all of the substrings that refer to AUB and annotate them with links into the knowledge base. In this talk we use Wikipedia as our example knowledge base, but approaches are directly applicable to any other collection of Linked Data.
A solution for Entity Linking is the key to extract more knowledge, such as facts and relations from text; Entity Linking provides the means to improve text retrieval (IR) and linked data retrieval.
In this talk I am going to cover several approaches to Entity Linking from simple to complex and discuss advantages and shortcomings. Different approaches will make use of natural language processing, information retrieval, machine learning and graphical probabilistic models.
Bio
Dr. Laura Dietz is a post-doctoral researcher working with Bruce Croft at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) at the University of Massachusetts. Before that she was working with Andrew McCallum at University of Massachusetts. She obtained her doctoral degree with a thesis on topic models for networked data from Max Planck Institute for Informatik in early 2011, being supervised by Tobias Scheffer and Gerhard Weikum.

ABSTRACT
A value-based approach to Natural Language Understanding, in particular, the disambiguation of pronouns, is illustrated with a solution to a typical example from the Winograd Schema Challenge. The worked example uses a language engine, Enguage, to support the articulation of the advocation and fearing of violence. The example illustrates the indexical nature of pronouns, and how their values, their referent objects, change because they are set by contextual data. It must be noted that Enguage is not a suitable candidate for addressing the Winograd Schema Challenge as it is an interactive tool, whereas the Challenge requires a preconfigured, unattended program.

Disambiguation or Entity Linking is the assignment of a knowledge base identifier (Wikidata, Wikipedia) to a named entity. Our goal was to improve an MVP model by adding newly created knowledge while maintaining competitive F1 scores.
Taking an entity linking model from MVP into production in a spaCy-native pipeline architecture posed several data science and engineering challenges, such as hyperparameter estimation and knowledge enhancement, which we addressed by taking advantage of the engineering tools Docker and Kubernetes to semi-automate training as an on-demand job.
We also discuss some of our learnings and process improvements that were needed to strike a balance between data science goals and engineering constraints and present our current work on improving performance through BERT-embedding based contextual similarity.
