Lisa Montgomery, the first woman to be executed by the US government in nearly 70 years | DW News
Lisa Montgomery could be the first woman to face the death penalty in nearly 70 years. She was convicted for murdering a pregnant woman Bobbie Jo Stinnett and taking her unborn child, trying to pass the baby girl off as her own. In spite of her gruesome crime her supporters say she doesn’t deserve to die. As a child Montgomery was a victim of severe abuse. Her lawyers say she suffered
incest, gang-rape and brain damage.
The 52-year-old is being held in a prison in Indiana. She’s scheduled to die by lethal injection on January 12th. Multiple courts have rejected her appeals. Only outgoing President Donald Trump could stop the execution.
Under Trump, the US restarted federal executions for the first time in almost two decades. Montgomery is one of three inmates scheduled to die before his t...

OFFICIAL LYRICS:
I don't really give a damn about the way you touch me
When we're alone
You can hold my hand
If no one's home
Do you like it when I'm away?
If I went and hurt my body, baby
Would you love me the same?
I can feel all my bones coming back
And I'm craving motion
Mama never really learned how to live by herself
It's a curse
And it's growing
You're a pond and I'm an ocean
Oh, all my emotions
Feel like explosions when you are around
And I've found a way to kill the sound, oh
Oh, baby, I am a wreck when I'm without you
I need you here to stay
I broke all my bones that day I found you
Crying at the lake
Was it something I said to make you feel like you're a burden?
Oh, and if I could take it all back
I swear that I would pull you from the tide
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
I said no, I said no
Listen close, it's a no
The wind is a-pounding on my back
And I found hope in a heart attack
Oh at last, it is past
Now I've got it, and you can't have it
Baby, I am a wreck when I'm without you
I need you here to stay
I broke all my bones that day I found you
Crying at the lake
Was it something I said to make you feel like you're a burden?
Oh, and if I could take it all back
I swear that I would pull you from the tide
Darling, when I'm fast asleep
I've seen this person watching me
Saying, "Is it worth it? Is it worth it? Tell me, is it worth it?"
Oh-oh
Because there is something, and there is nothing
There is nothing in between
And in my eyes, there is a tiny dancer
Watching over me, he's singing
"She's a, she's a lady, and I am just a boy"
He's singing, "She's a, she's a lady, and I am just a line without a"—

Montgomery is one of three inmates scheduled to die before his term ends. Trump’s successor Joe Biden once supported the death penalty but has now pledged to end its use.

Moving To Montgomery, Alabama ~
Here are my thoughts on moving to this state capital. Its a great METRO AREA for affordability and an area that offers opportunity to anyone regardless of their background. However, in inner city neighborhoods are a solid PASS, and many adjacent areas that appear to look nice can also be filled with crime and undesirable issues.

And of course, in the middle of the 20th century, Montgomery was the center of events and protests in the Civil Rights Movement.
Montgomery is going through a bit of a revitalized resurgence downtown proper. A lot of money has been spent fixing up old warehouses and office buildings and turning them into loft apartments, retail, restaurants, hotels and businesses. After a lot of growth in the 90s, the population in Montgomery has flattened. There’s a couple hundred thousand people here. Crime here is about average nationally, and lower than Alabama’s other large cities.
Here’s the rest of downtown Montgomery Alabama and its surrounding neighborhoods.
Now we’re going to take a little trip just outside of the downtown area, and then come back to downtown. I wanted to show how quickly the neighborhoods just outside of downtown change and become run down within just a few blocks of downtown Montgomery. Then we’ll come back to downtown again.
Later this night, we explored Montgomery a bit. Everyone we met was super friendly and welcoming. While exploring downtown Montgomery on this fine evening, I found the Riverfront Landing sign and it called my name with all its fancy lights. Riverwalk and Amphitheater on the Alabama River! I’m in!! I went down the tunnel but alas, the riverboat was closed and nothing was open.

Driving Downtown - Montgomery
Alabama USA - Season 1 Episode 9.
Starting Point: Commerce St https://goo.gl/maps/YwutjEncNq12
Montgomery is the capital of the U.S. state of Alabama and is the county seat of Montgomery County. Named for Richard Montgomery, it is located on the Alabama River, in the Gulf Coastal Plain. As of the 2010 Census, Montgomery had a population of 205,764. It is the second-largest city in Alabama, after Birmingham, and the 103rd largest in the United States. The Montgomery Metropolitan Statistical Area had a 2010 estimated population of 374,536. It is the fourth-largest in the state and 136th among United States metropolitan areas.
The city was incorporated in 1819, as a merger of two towns situated along the Alabama River. It became the state capital in 1846, representing the shift of power to the south-central area with the growth of cotton as a commodity crop of the Black Belt and Mobile's rise as a mercantile port. In February 1861, Montgomery was selected as the first capital of the Confederate States of America, until the seat of government moved to Richmond, Virginia, in May of that year. During the mid-20th century, Montgomery was a major site of events in the African-American Civil Rights Movement, including the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Selma to Montgomery marches.
In addition to housing many Alabama government agencies, Montgomery has a large military presence due to Maxwell Air Force Base; public universities Alabama State University, Troy University (Montgomery campus), and Auburn University at Montgomery; private colleges/universities Faulkner University and Huntingdon College; high-tech manufacturing, including Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama; and cultural attractions such as the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
Two ships of the United States Navy have been named after the city, including USS Montgomery (LCS-8).
Montgomery has won several national awards including being voted Best Historic City by USA Today, being named an All-America City in 2014 by the National Civic League, being named a "Top City For Job Growth" in 2014 by ziprecruiter.com, and being named the happiest city in Alabama. Montgomery has also been recognized nationally for its successful, and ongoing downtown revitalization and new urbanism projects with Montgomery having been one of the first cities in the nation to implement Smart Code Zoning.
