Mythopoeic Times is about idea creation and belief systems. The film empowers and inspires by following four men who call themselves the Kenny La Roche Artist and Adventure Theologians. Plot: An intellectual and farcical comedy that fades up on a New York cafe & bar, bustling with hipsters, poets, and posers. Our main man, Joseph, steps up to the mic and begins a Network-style self-important rant about the twenty-something generation. Joseph's problem is with his own generation of bored, unhappy cynics. He thinks the hipster generation is so preoccupied with being cool, that they won't believe in anything. But Joe doesn't want to be jaded anymore, so he's going to start a cult of sincerity. He wants to find something to believe in, something simple enough to put on a T-shirt. Reminiscent of Don Quixote, Joseph sets out to find the most genuine thing you could ever say to anyone. And secretly, Joseph's trying to get his divorced parents back together. Joseph immediately starts trying to be "true-blue," by opening doors for strangers, planting trees in the city, and apologizing to anyone who'll listen for things like chauvinism, sarcasm, and fascism. Along the way, he meets a cast of sleazy music agents, oversexed nihilists, pretentious filmmakers, and finally, an elderly woman who shows him that simplicity doesn't mean stupidity. But by then it's too late. "The cult of sincerity" has been appropriated by Joseph's community as the next hip-status movement. Joe finds himself in the same café as before, surrounded by "cult" buttons, trucker hats, and phony fans. And Joe must now decide between fake sincerity and genuine mistrust. The Cult of Sincerity is the witty exploration of changing friendships, permanent regrets, and hope in the age of irony.

Plot: A semi-fictionalized version of 'John Resko' (qv)'s incarceration is presented. John is on death row at Sing Sing for murder. In December 1930, he killed a toy store shopkeeper over a teddy bear he wanted to get as a Christmas present for his two year old daughter, Cathy, but for which he could not pay. Twenty minutes before John's scheduled execution, he is given a reprieve, his sentence commuted to life, and he transferred to Dannemora. He initially has a difficult time adjusting to life at Dannemora, from the uncaring direction of the prison administration including they not dealing with the issue of bed bugs, to altercations with fellow prisoners who seem to want their two pounds of literal and figurative flesh from John, to news that he receives from the outside about goings-on within his family. However, he does eventually befriend many of his fellow prisoners, especially Nick, Iggy and Wino. John dreams of escaping from Dannemora, so that he can be at least an economically generating father for Cathy, even if she may not want to resume a life with him. But one of the principals at the prison may have a way to get prisoners like John out of the system, by giving them creative outlets to show parole boards what is in their innermost thoughts. He wants to nurture what seems to be John's artistic abilities. Although John initially balks at the idea of art as an outlet, he does eventually get a passion for it, which leads to an outcome not expected by either the principal or John.

Beth Cavener - Sculptor
Made by http://likeknowslike.com co-founder and filmmaker http://basberkhout.nl
The sculptures Beth Cavener creates focus on human psychology, stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms.
Cavener wants to pry at those uncomfortable, awkward edges between animal and human. Entangled in their own internal and external struggles, the figures express frustration for the human tendency towards cruelty and lack of understanding. Something conscious and knowing is captured in their gestures and expressions.

JAGO, the self-taught sculptor who wanted to be Michelangelo
Jago is a self-taught sculptor from Ciociaria. He’s thirty years old and since he was a child, dreamed of being like Michelangelo. Art, for him, is a way to find courage thanks to the example set be the great masters of the past. His artwork is based on a constant study on perception: changing the shape of matter, making a stone soft, to astonish and to show that the world isn’t just what it seems to be. His sculpture of Pope Ratzinger was not accepted by the Vatican because the eyes had holes in them, this was in homage to Adolf Wildt, the Pope never even saw the artwork. Years later, Jago, who had refused to fill in the eyes, was finally awarded the Accademia Pontificia prize. And when the Pope resigned, stripping himself of his robes, Jago did the same to his sculpture.

Nano Lopez: Master Sculptor
Nano Lopez is an artist gifted with the rare ability to see the world as a child sees it, with exploration, wonder, and creativity. He is deeply fascinated by the sometimes troubling mysteries of life and its inherent struggles.
In his artistic process, Nano integrates organic textures and synthetic, human made objects into his bronzes to create pieces of art that reflect the same depth and richness he sees in the world around him. Although colorful and whimsical, Nano's work is anything but child's play and invites careful, sustained viewing. The rich and intricate textures and bright colors are subtlety evocative of his native Colombia and of other Latin art, but his depth of understanding and free associations transcend culture and time. They describe a world beyond the borders of or...

We followed Jago from his studio in Anagni to Milan, at the Galleria Montrasio Arte, where his solo exhibition is being held.

They describe a world beyond the borders of ordinary maps where an unfettered imagination allow nature, science, folklore and modern industrialism to exist seamlessly together. His work invites us to look at the world more carefully and discover for ourselves the rich interconnections of life. It reminds us that the miracle of life exists at all levels, from the patterns on a leaf to the profound mysteries of the universe.

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to introduce Brazil’s Sculptor, a melodic death metal band who joins the label’s rapidly expanding metal roster. While hailing from South America, the band’s sound is more akin to a different part of the globe, specifically the early years of the revered Göthenburg sound emanating from Sweden and popularized by bands like Dark Tranquility, Soilwork, In Flames, and the like. The band's label debut, "Untold Secrets" is out December 4, 2020.
Based in the city of Curitiba (coincidentally also the home of labelmates Semblant, Landfall, and Electric Mob), Sculptor was founded in 2015 by Rick Eraser (vocals) and Vinne (vocals/guitars), who was joined by Caco Ramos (bass), Fabricio Reis (guitars), and Mateus Schran (drums). The band debuted with the single "Oblivion,” which became a blueprint for the songs that would comprise their debut album, “Untold Secrets”.
"Untold Secrets" is a very special album because the lyrics talk about our own secrets, because sometimes we are afraid to talk about how we feel, sometimes we want to give up on everything. But we need to fight and move on. When I wrote these songs I was battling depression and music helped me to overcome. I hope everybody who listens to these songs can talk about their own “Untold Secrets"," says frontman Rick Eraser.
"Untold Secrets" was recorded at the band's studio in Curitiba, produced by Rick and Vinne, and mixed by Linus Corneliusson at Fascination Street Studios located, appropriately enough, in Sweden.
“The name "Sculptor" means that we are the sculptors of our lives, we can shape them and transform them into what we want. The lyrics also address this subject and how everything we do impacts our world,” says the band.
"Untold Secrets" showcases the complex influences the musicians acquired through their previous musical projects. For the uninitiated, once again, the band's style can be described as musically akin to early era albums from Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Soilwork, and Tiamat.
For melodic death metal fans and metal fans in general, Sculptor are a band to keep an eye on!
