The Untold Truth Of St. Peter
These days, St. Peter is mostly known as a guy who has a Basilica in Rome and a Burg in Russia, but St. Peter was actually one of the most important people in the New Testament. Here's a whole bunch of stuff you probably never knew about him.
The story of Peter first meeting Jesus varies a little from one Gospel to the other, but basically Peter is fishing with his brother Andrew. Jesus tells them to drop their nets and come with him because he's going to have them fish for people instead. And Peter does, just like that. But the Bible and modern archaeology tell us a lot about just what he was leaving behind.
Many Christians have an idea that the disciples were poor before they started wandering around with Jesus. But Peter, at least, was probably doing pretty well for himself. From the ...

From the various Gospels we learn he had at least three employees, his own boat, and a house big enough to accommodate some extended family.
We also know that he was from the city of Bethsaida, and archaeologists believe they found it. Ancient Bethsaida appears to have been a thriving urban settlement with elements of posh Roman culture, extremely significant in a place that was then generally a backwater of the empire. So Peter? He wasn't just following Jesus in the hopes of finding something better - he already had it pretty good.
When it comes to the disciples, Peter is unquestionably the most important, as all four Gospel writers give him the most coverage by far. Across all of the New Testament, Peter is mentioned by name over 200 times, while the next most talked about disciple is John, who gets a mere 29 name drops.
More than that, the Gospels agree that he served as a sort of spokesman for the group, and enjoyed as much of a position of authority as any of the disciples had. He's even chosen to be the first male follower who witnessed the resurrection, although Mary Magdalene got the real honor. And Jesus even selects him to be the one to build the church after he goes to heaven. That's extra strange since the Gospels paint Peter as an argumentative screw-up. Keep watching the video to see the untold truth of St Peter.

Saint Peter is the first Pope of the Catholic Church and there remains an unbroken line of Popes from Saint Peter to Pope Francis.
Though Saint Peter's birth date remains uncertain, he is believed to have died in 64 AD. Saint Peter is the patron saint of fishermen, net makers, and ship builders.
He was canonized by Christ as the "rock of the church" described in Matthew chapter 16, verse 18. His feast day is June 29, however several groups honor him on February 22nd and November 18th as well.
Saint Peter was born Simon Peter of Cephas. He was a fisherman who met Jesus while in his boat. He and his brother Andrew had been experiencing trouble catching fish but when Jesus saw the boats, he told them to cast their nets into deep water and He would fill them. Peter and his brother cast their nets and sure enough they caught so many fish their nets began to tear.
By the time the nets had been emptied on board, the boats were nearly sinking. When Simon Peter realized what happened, he admitted he was a sinful man and Jesus told him, "from now on it is people you will be catching." Peter became one of Jesus' disciples that very day and was present for several miracles.
Following Christ's death, it was Peter who denied knowing Jesus three times before a rooster crowed twice and following the Resurrection, Jesus gave Peter three chances to make up for the denials by asking Peter if he loved Him. Each time Peter responded that he did love Jesus, and so he was resolved of his guilt.
There are several stories of Peter's accomplishments following Jesus' ascension, including the story of how he escaped King Herod with help from an angel. Peter helped spread the Gospel to Gentiles, baptized people, and was eventually martyred.
When he was to be crucified, he admitted he was not worthy of dying the same way Jesus did, and was crucified upside-down. Following his death, Peter was buried on Vatican Hill, where Emperor Constantine I honored him with a large basilica.
In 1950, bone shards were discovered and Pope Paul the 6th announced they belonged to Peter. On November 24, 2013, Pope Francis revealed the relics of nine bone fragments for the first time in public during a Mass celebrated at St. Peter's Square.
Artwork featuring Saint Peter often depicts him as an elderly man holding a key and book, though his symbols also include an inverted cross, a boat, and a rooster.

Lost Frequencies’ new single ‘Melody (feat. James Blunt)' is OUT NOW: https://FF003.lnk.to/MelodyYA
Exceptional. No other word could describe the rise of Lost Frequencies so accurately. The Belgian youngster shook the world with debut single ‘Are You With Me’ and soon found himself on top of the world, following up on his worldwide smash with global sensation ‘Reality’ and latest addition ‘Beautiful Life’. Now, he shows the full extent of his potential through his debut album: ‘Less Is More’.
Forging global hit singles isn’t done by jam-packing songs with a full range of sounds. It’s done by making just the right choices, enabling each element to make the most of its unique qualities. ‘Less Is More’. And that’s what makes a song truly exceptional. Let alone an entire album.
Harboring a plethora of ridiculously catchy singles alongside the before-mentioned hits, ‘Less Is More’ shows exactly why Lost Frequencies’ signature sound is so widely acclaimed. Easy on the ear, increasingly addictive, and filled with gorgeous, laid-back vibes, the songs on the album allow minds to drift and emotions to flow freely, all made possible through the delicate arrangements and a strong choice of sounds.

Get ready to meet St. Peter.
Yahoo News was granted rare access to film inside the Vatican Grottos, a series of chapels and papal tombs located directly beneath the famous St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. In 360 degrees, the final resting places of popes dating back to the Middle Ages can be viewed on a virtual tour narrated by Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric.
Of the 266 Popes throughout history, approximately 100 of them are buried below the basilica. On the tour, viewers will see monuments to Pope Nicholas the Fifth, Pope Innocent the Seventh, and Pope Paul the Second, among others.
In an exclusive and stunning conclusion to the tour, Yahoo News filmed the tomb of St. Peter, the man Catholics call the “First Pope,” one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. The remains of Peter are located directly beneath the altar where Pope Francis celebrates Mass, and create a literal foundation for the Church and its deep and storied history.
