Richard Jordan

Richard Jordan (born Robert Anson Jordan, Jr.; July 19, 1937 – August 30, 1993) was an American stage, screen, and television actor. A long-time member of the New York Shakespeare Festival, he performed in many Off Broadway and Broadway plays. His films include Logan's Run, Les Misérables, Raise the Titanic, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, The Yakuza, Interiors, The Bunker, Dune, The Secret of My Success, The Hunt for Red October, Posse and Gettysburg.

Early life

Jordan was born in New York City, to Robert Anson Jordan, Sr., from Boston, Massachusetts, and Constance (née Hand), from New York. His maternal grandfather was Learned Hand, judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and one of the most respected jurists in the United States. In 1942, when Jordan was five years old, his parents divorced. His mother married Newbold Morris, president of the New York City Council. The marriage was performed by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia at Gracie Mansion and was the first marriage to be performed there.

Richard Jordan (RAF officer)

Air Marshal Sir Richard Bowen Jordan KCB DFC ADC RAF (7 February 1902 – 24 April 1994) was a bomber pilot and squadron commander during the Second World War, a senior Royal Air Force officer during the Second World War and sixth Commandant of the Royal Observer Corps, in the post war period of the early 1950s.

Early Royal Air Force career

Educated at Marlborough College Sir Richard was one of the very first cadets at the new RAF College Cranwell in 1921, at the age of 19, where he learned to fly. He represented the college at both cricket and rugby having been appointed in the rank of Flight Cadet Sergeant. On graduation he was granted a permanent commission in the rank of Pilot Officer in 1922 and posted as a pilot to No. 2 Squadron RAF. Promoted to Flying Officer in June 1924 he moved to No. 28 Squadron RAF in February 1926.

On 12 December 1928, Jordan was promoted to Flight Lieutenant and the following month he transferred to India as a Headquarters Staff officer at No. 2 (Indian Wing) Station, RAF Risalpur. Returning to the UK two years later he was held as a supernumerary officer at the RAF Central Depot before embarking on an eight-year secondment as a test pilot at the Royal Aircraft Establishment’s military experimental division at Farnborough. During his time there, he was promoted to Squadron Leader in 1936.

Richard Lamont Jordan (born December 1, 1974) is a former American football linebacker who played two seasons with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He played college football at Missouri Southern State University and attended Vian High School in Vian, Oklahoma. Jordan was also a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jordan was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the 239th pickin the 1997 NFL Draft. He played for the Lions from 1997 to 1999.

Kansas City Chiefs

Jordan signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on January 18, 2001. He was released by the Chief son September 2, 2001. He signed a two-year future contract with the Chiefs son January 30, 2002. Jordan was released by the Chiefs on September 1, 2002.

Detroit Lions

Jordan was signed by the Detroit Lions on October 1, 2002.

Jordan Village, Connecticut

Jordan is a village in the town of Waterford, Connecticut, and the historic center of the town. It was named from the Jordan River. The village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Jordan Village Historic District in 1990. The district includes 58 contributing buildings and one other contributing site over an area of 57 acres (23 ha). It includes examples of Greek Revival and Queen Anne architectural styles.

Location

Jordan Village is located on land known historically as Jordan Plain, a flat land area at the head of Jordan Cove, an estuary off Long Island Sound. The historic district surrounds the intersection of Rope Ferry Road and North Road.

Jordan (Bishop of Poland)

Jordan (died in 982 or 984) was the first Bishop of Poland from 968 with his seat, most probably, in Poznań. He was an Italian or German.

Most evidence shows that he was missionary bishop subordinate directly to the Pope. He arrived in Poland, probably from Italy or the Rhineland, in 966 with Doubravka of Bohemia to baptise Mieszko I of Poland. After the death of Jordan until 992 the throne of the Bishop of Poland was vacant, or there was a bishop of unknown name (the first theory is more probable). His successor, from 992, was Unger.

Jordan 198

The Jordan 198 was the car with which the Jordan Formula One team used to compete in the 1998 Formula One season. It was driven by 1996 World Champion Damon Hill, who had moved from Arrows, and Ralf Schumacher, who was in his second season with the team.

After a dismal start which saw the team fail to score a single championship point in the first half of the season, numerous improvements to the car and tyre development by Goodyear enabled Jordan to climb back into the top teams. At the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix, the team scored a historic first victory with Hill, with Schumacher finishing behind him in second place. The team finished fourth in the Constructors' Championship, one ahead of Benetton.
