Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football (MNF) is a live television broadcast of weekly National Football League (NFL) games on ESPN in the United States. From 1970 to 2005, it aired on sister broadcast network ABC. Monday Night Football was, along with Hallmark Hall of Fame and the Walt Disney anthology television series, one of the longest-running prime time programs ever on commercial network television, and one of the highest-rated, particularly among male viewers.

Monday Night Football is also broadcast in Canada on TSN and RDS, and in most of Europe. On September 7, 2013, the NFL announced that British Eurosport would show Monday Night Football games live in the United Kingdom for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The telecasts are also seen in most of Australia on ESPN Australia, in Portugal on SportTV 3 and SportTV HD and on TV 2 Sport in Denmark, and in some other regions of the world outside the U.S. on ESPN International. A Spanish-language version airs on ESPN Deportes in the U.S. and on ESPN International in Latin America, while a Portuguese version airs on ESPN Brasil. Per an NFL broadcasting policy intended to allow those who do not subscribe to cable or satellite television to see games televised by a pay television network, the games are also made available on over-the-air television stations in each participating team's local market.

"Monday Night Football" is the 14th episode in the second season of the television series How I Met Your Mother. It originally aired on February 5, 2007.

Plot

Ted's favorite holiday is Super Bowl Sunday. He has everything planned out continuing their tradition of watching it together with hot wings. The gang's plans are cut short when they find out a worker at the bar has died. They are forced into going to the funeral otherwise they won't be allowed back in the bar. The funeral starts at the same time as Super Bowl XLI, so they tape it figuring they'll watch it afterwards. The wake lasts too long and they run out of time to watch the game. They plan to not find out the score of the game until the next day to watch it together. Ted works at home so no one can tell him the score while Barney handcuffs himself to Ted's wall, so he can't find the score, because he has a lot of money on the game. Robin does the best she can to avoid the media, even though she works in news.

Monday Night Football (MNF) (known as Ford Monday Night Football for sponsorship reasons) is a football programme on Sky Sports which broadcasts live English football from the Premier League.

Original run

Sky television's acquisition of rights to broadcast live Premier League football from the start of the 1992–93 season saw them attempt innovations such as digital on-screen graphics (DOG) and Monday Night live games. The first Monday Night Football game broadcast was between Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers on 17 August 1992, which ended in a 1-1 draw. To give the broadcasts a different look to Sky's Ford Super Sunday strand, the broadcaster introduced the Sky Strikers, a dance troupe similar to American cheerleaders. This pre-match and half-time entertainment was dropped after the first season.

The show had a number of different formats after its launch. The first change led to the merging of Andy Gray's Boot Room format into the show; analysing the previous weekend's football matches utilising the latest computer technology combined with Gray's individual analysis. As the UEFA Champions League gained in importance for Premier League clubs, the number of games played on Monday night declined. Sky Sports then reverted to a format similar to that of Ford Super Sunday with a presenter (Jeff Stelling) and studio guests.

Monday Night, Recorded Live at the Village Vanguard is a 1968 big band jazz album recorded at the Village Vanguard club in New York City by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra and released on the Solid State Records label. All tracks are also included on Mosaic's limited edition boxed set, The Complete Solid State Recordings of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra.
