Korean War 1950-1953 - The Cold War DOCUMENTARY
The Korean War began on June 25, 1950, when some 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People’s Army poured across the 38th parallel, the boundary between the Soviet-backed Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the north and the pro-Western Republic of Korea to the south. This invasion was the first military action of the Cold War. By July, American troops had entered the war on South Korea’s behalf. As far as American officials were concerned, it was a war against the forces of international communism itself. After some early back-and-forth across the 38th parallel, the fighting stalled and casualties mounted with nothing to show for them. Meanwhile, American officials worked anxiously to fashion some sort of armistice with the North Koreans. The alternative, they feared, would be a wi...

What Caused The Korean War
The Korean War saw a divide between the country, and the North and South taking sides and powerful allies to help them take full control over the country. In today's educational animated cartoon we look at the Korean War and how the country was ultimately divided into two.

Korean War: Every Day 1950(1945)-1953
The Korean War was fought for three years by the United Nations, which centers on Western Bloc as well as South and North Korea, and China, which is supported by the Eastern Bloc, as a varying force.
On July 27, 1953, the United Nations and the North Korea-China combined forces signed the armistice agreement, but the front was recognized as the Military Demarcation Line at the time of the armistice, and the northern part of the Korean Peninsula was divided into the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the southern part into the Republic of Korea.
The map shows the front lines on the Korean Peninsula from 1945 when Japanese control ended to 1953 when the armistice agreement was signed.

Korean War: Intense Korean War Documentary
Korean War: Intense Korean War Documentary
After the first two months of the conflict, South Korean forces were on the point of defeat, forced back to the Pusan Perimeter. In September 1950, an amphibious UN counter-offensive was launched at Inchon, and cut off many of the North Korean troops. Those that escaped envelopment and capture were rapidly forced back north all the way to the border with China at the Yalu River, or into the mountainous interior. At this point, in October 1950, Chinese forces crossed the Yalu and entered the war.[38] Chinese intervention triggered a retreat of UN forces which continued until mid-1951. After these dramatic reversals of fortune, which saw Seoul change hands four times, the last two years of conflict became a war of attrition, with the front line clo...

After some early back-and-forth across the 38th parallel, the fighting stalled and casualties mounted with nothing to show for them. Meanwhile, American officials worked anxiously to fashion some sort of armistice with the North Koreans. The alternative, they feared, would be a wider war with Russia and China–or even, as some warned, World War III. Finally, in July 1953, the Korean War came to an end. In all, some 5 million soldiers and civilians lost their lives in what many in the U.S. refer to as “the Forgotten War” for the lack of attention it received compared to more well-known conflicts like World War I and II and the Vietnam War. The Korean peninsula is still divided today.

After these dramatic reversals of fortune, which saw Seoul change hands four times, the last two years of conflict became a war of attrition, with the front line close to the 38th parallel. The war in the air, however, was never a stalemate. North Korea was subject to a massive bombing campaign. Jet fighters confronted each other in air-to-air combat for the first time in history, and Soviet pilots covertly flew in defense of their communist allies.
