New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

"New York" is the third single by Eskimo Joe, taken from their third studio album Black Fingernails, Red Wine. The band flew to New York to film the music video for the single. The music video for "New York" debuted on ABC's all night music program, Rage, as the first clip shown on 15 December 2006. "New York" was released on 3 February 2007.

The music video is unusual for Eskimo Joe, featuring lead singer Kavyen Temperley changing T-shirts. It is filmed on the streets of New York, whilst Temperley walks backward with smoke coming out of his mouth. It then pans to the band running in Central Park in a similar style to the "Who Sold Her Out" video.
Director Stuart MacLeod has commented.
After a quick mock-up at home, the logistics of donning T-shirts in real time was proving more difficult than anticipated. In frustration, MacLeod hit the rewind button and the sudden flurry of activity saw the concept morph into a music video.
"New York" (also referred to as the New Yorks and the New York Philadelphians) was a term given to a professional football team formed by promoter Tom O'Rouke for the World Series of Football in 1902. The event was held in New York City at Madison Square Garden. It featured five football teams from New York and New Jersey: the Syracuse Athletic Club, Orange Athletic Club, Knickerbocker Athletic Club, Warslow Athletic Club and "New York". The "New York" team was designed and heavily favored to win the tournament. However, they were defeated in the opening game by Syracuse.
The "New York" team comprised ex-players from the recently defunct Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Athletics of the first National Football League – eight Phillies and four Athletics. It included Charlie Gelbert, Blondy Wallace, Walter E. Bachman and Ben Roller. However, the team also featured some recognizable players from New York such as Curly Davidson. By putting together a team of all-stars calling them the "New York" team, O'Rourke expected to give his New York audience the pleasure of watching the "home team" win.
New York is the fifteenth solo album by Lou Reed, released early in 1989. A universal critical success, it is widely considered one of his best solo albums. While the defunct Velvet Underground were at the peak of their popularity at the time, Reed's solo career had hit several lows during the 1980s, at least since his Blue Mask. However the widespread popularity of New York reignited his career to the extent that he could revive the Velvet Underground for an aborted world tour.
The album is highly regarded for the strength and force of its lyrical content, but at the time drew criticism for its perceived pedestrian, "truck driver," musicianship. Reed countered that he required simple music so that it would not distract from his frank lyrics. The single "Dirty Blvd." was a #1 hit on the newly created Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for four weeks. Velvet Underground drummer Maureen Tucker played on two tracks.
New York contains CD Graphics that can be viewed on compatible CD players, such as karaoke machines or the Sega Saturn.
New York—often called New York City or the City of New York to distinguish it from the State of New York, of which it is a part—is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York metropolitan area, the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States and one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. A global power city, New York exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world.
Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of New York State. The five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island – were consolidated into a single city in 1898. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 8,491,079 distributed over a land area of just 305 square miles (790 km2), New York is the most densely populated major city in the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. By 2014 census estimates, the New York City metropolitan region remains by a significant margin the most populous in the United States, as defined by both the Metropolitan Statistical Area (20.1 million residents) and the Combined Statistical Area (23.6 million residents). In 2013, the MSA produced a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of nearly US$1.39 trillion, while in 2012, the CSA generated a GMP of over US$1.55 trillion, both ranking first nationally by a wide margin and behind the GDP of only twelve and eleven countries, respectively.

Just two months after Donald Trump pardoned Lil Wayne, the rapper shelled out $15.4 million for a newly built Los Angeles estate. Located next door to Kylie Jenner in Hidden Hills, the luxury abode was constructed in 2019 and is made up of seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., closed the sale on March 17. The move comes after Wayne, 38, was granted clemency in his December 2020 case after he pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge brought against him by the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. He was arrested the previous year after transporting a loaded handgun on his private jet from California. #LilWayne #RealEstate #NewYorkPost The New York Post is your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entert...

Facing the same situation in the same spot that led to a stunning exit five years ago,, the United States women’s soccer team survived penalty kicks Friday and beat the Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. The teams played to a 2-2 tie through regulation and two extra periods before the USWNT prevailed with a 4-2 edge in penalty kicks. Alyssa Naeher saved two penalty kicks, on top of one in regulation that would have sunk the USWNT, and Rose Lavelle, Alex Morgan, Christen Press and Megan Rapinoe all buried their attempts. #TeamUSA #Soccer #Tokyo2020 The New York Post is your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entertainment, opinion, real estate, culture, fashion, and more. President Biden and Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy had a heated exchange Thursday at the end of a speech in which Biden announced a vax-or-test-mask-and-distance requirement for millions of federal workers. As Biden left the podium in the East Room of the White House, Doocy reminded the president that he had said, “if you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask.” “No I didn’t say that,” Biden responded. “I said if you’re fully vaccinated in an area where you do not have – well, let me clarify that –“ Doocy interrupted to clarify his question: “In May, you made it sound like a vaccine was the ticket to losing the masks forever.” #Biden #PeterDoocy #COVID19 The New York Post is your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entertai...

I hear the train all night
Sound of its wind blowing through our subtle lives
And I have a job to do walking these cars
Walking all asleep to get to you
But I don't feel your stir beside me
And your not in my morning hour
Some ties are made to break
Some stalks grow high and green to run away
And feel the wake
And these lines tell the truth
These city veins answer all you do
So could you keep me in the pulses
Could you keep me in the sound
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you know
Maybe you bet on me
While we were still young enough to know
Or to believe
For every year you took
For every soft breathe or loving look
Believe me
And don't keep me like you have me
And don't kiss me like you don't
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
Some land holds a home
Some of my years only hold me to Rome
But I tell myself its true
You see a home you see a man
You see it too
And I say don't you know you have her
Go on kiss her now you boy
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
