À l’heure où la situation en Afghanistan pose la question du dialogue avec un pouvoir qui viole allègrement les droits humains, et alors même que ces derniers sont instrumentalisés dans la rivalité entre la Chine et les États-Unis, la société civile a un réel rôle à jouer en matière de défense des droits humains à l’échelle internationale. Mobilisées sur de nombreuses thématiques liées aux droits humains, qu'il s'agisse de la liberté d’expression, de la peine de mort, du respect de la justice internationale, de la lutte contre les discriminations, ou encore de la protection des droits des populations menacées par des conflits armés, Amnesty International mène non seulement des actions de plaidoyer mais également un travail de recherche, d’information et d’éveil des consciences sur les droits humains.

I den lille ørkenstat Qatar arbejder millioner af migrantarbejdere lige nu i døgndrift på at gøre landet klar til VM i fodbold i 2022. Ifølge tal fra Amnesty International har tusindvis af migrantarbejderne dog mistet livet siden VM-byggeriet startede tilbage i 2010. Og hvis man spørger sportskommentator for Ekstra Bladet Jan Jensen, så ledes tankerne hen på slavelignende vilkår, når man ser, hvordan det foregår i Qatar. Det har han nemlig selv set under sine besøg i migrantarbejdernes lejre. Hør hans fortælling om arbejdernes levevilkår i Qatar i videoen her.

Amnesty International
Amnesty International (commonly known as Amnesty and AI) is a non-governmental organisation focused on human rights with over 7 million members and supporters around the world. The stated objective of the organisation is "to conduct research and generate action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights, and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated."
Amnesty International was founded in London in 1961, following the publication of the article "The Forgotten Prisoners" in The Observer 28 May 1961, by the lawyer Peter Benenson. Amnesty draws attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international laws and standards. It works to mobilise public opinion to put pressure on governments that let abuse take place. The organisation was awarded the 1977 Nobel Peace Prize for its "campaign against torture," and the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 1978.
In the field of international human rights organisations, Amnesty has the longest history and broadest name recognition, and is believed by many to set standards for the movement as a whole.

Ifølge tal fra Amnesty International har tusindvis af migrantarbejderne dog mistet livet siden VM-byggeriet startede tilbage i 2010. Og hvis man spørger sportskommentator for Ekstra Bladet Jan Jensen, så ledes tankerne hen på slavelignende vilkår, når man ser, hvordan det foregår i Qatar. À l’heure où la situation en Afghanistan pose la question du dialogue avec un pouvoir qui viole allègrement les droits humains, et alors même que ces derniers sont instrumentalisés dans la rivalité entre la Chine et les États-Unis, la société civile a un réel rôle à jouer en matière de défense des droits humains à l’échelle internationale. Mobilisées sur de nombreuses thématiques liées aux droits humains, qu'il s'agisse de la liberté d’expression, de la peine de mort, du respect de la justice internationale, de la lutte contre les discriminations, ou encore de la protection des droits des populations menacées par des conflits armés, Amnesty International mène non seulement des actions de plaidoyer mais également un travail de recherche, d’information et d’éveil des consciences sur les droits humains.
Quel rôle les ONG jouent-elles en matière de défense des droits humains ? Quelle relation Amnesty International entretient-elle avec la notion d’universalisme ? Amnesty International was founded in London in 1961, following the publication of the article "The Forgotten Prisoners" in The Observer 28 May 1961, by the lawyer Peter Benenson. Amnesty draws attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international laws and standards. It works to mobilise public opinion to put pressure on governments that let abuse take place. The organisation was awarded the 1977 Nobel Peace Prize for its "campaign against torture," and the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 1978.
In the field of international human rights organisations, Amnesty has the longest history and broadest name recognition, and is believed by many to set standards for the movement as a whole.
