John Ward (November 8, 1753 – August 5, 1846) was a businessman, militia officer and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented St. John County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1809 to 1820.
He was born in Peekskill, New York. Ward was probably the son of Edmund Ward and Elizabeth Strange. He served with the Loyal American Regiment during the American Revolution, reaching the rank of lieutenant. Ward married Elizabeth Strange in 1777. He led a unit of provincial troops to Parrtown (later Saint John, New Brunswick) in 1783. The following year, Ward settled in an area that would come to be known as Wards Creek but later returned to Parrtown, where he established a wholesale liquor business. The business expanded to incorporate the sale of general merchandise, lumber mills and an iron foundry. With others, Ward operated a steamboat service travelling between Saint John and Fredericton. From 1799 to 1809, he served on the town council for Saint John. Ward also served as a justice of the peace, as a magistrate for the city and county of St. John and as a commissioner for lighthouses on the Bay of Fundy. In 1793, he helped found the Saint John’s Loyal Company of Artillery. He later served as commander for all the county militia. Ward died in Saint John at the age of 92.
John James Ward (September 28, 1920 – January 10, 2011) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1963 to 1996. He died of natural causes at the age of 90 on January 10, 2011. Prior to his death, he was just one of three American bishops still living to have participated in the Second Vatican Council.
One of two sons, Ward was born in Los Angeles, California, to Irish immigrants Hugh and Mary (McHugh) Ward. He entered St. John's Seminary in 1940, and was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop John Cantwell on May 4, 1946. From 1949 to 1952, he studied at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., from where he earned a licentiate in canon law.
On October 16, 1963, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles and Titular Bishop of Bria by Pope Paul VI. He received his episcopal consecration on the following December 12 from James Cardinal McIntyre, with Archbishop Joseph McGucken and Bishop Alden Bell serving as co-consecrators. Attending the Second Vatican Council from 1964 to 1965, he later became vicar general of the Archdiocese in 1970 and episcopal vicar of Our Lady of the Angels Pastoral Region in 1986. In addition to his duties as bishop, he was pastor of St. Timothy's Church.
In the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, game mechanics and die rolls determine much of what happens. These mechanics include:
All player characters have six basic statistics:
This is a list of notable characters in the sitcom Friends, which aired for ten seasons, on NBC, from 1994 to 2004. It featured six main cast members: Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) and Monica Geller (Courteney Cox). Many notable celebrities guest starred on the series throughout its ten-year run.
The main cast members were familiar to television viewers before their roles on Friends, but were not considered to be stars. Series creator David Crane wanted all six characters to be equally prominent, and the series was lauded as being "the first true 'ensemble' show". The cast members made efforts to keep the ensemble format and not allow one member to dominate; they entered themselves in the same acting categories for awards, opted for collective instead of individual salary negotiations, and asked to appear together on magazine cover photos in the first season. The cast members became best friends off screen, and one guest star, Tom Selleck, reported sometimes feeling left out. The cast remained good friends after the series' run, notably Cox and Aniston, with Aniston being godmother to Cox and David Arquette's daughter, Coco. In the official farewell commemorative book Friends 'Til the End, each separately acknowledged in his/her interview that the cast had become his/her family.
A warded lock (also called a ward lock) is a type of lock that uses a set of obstructions, or wards, to prevent the lock from opening unless the correct key is inserted. The correct key has notches or slots corresponding to the obstructions in the lock, allowing it to rotate freely inside the lock. Large warded locks are still in use today in the UK and Ireland for internal and external doors though mainly in 'heritage' sites such as ancient monuments and churches to preserve original features, primary security being provided by other means. Warded locks in America are commonly used in inexpensive padlocks, cabinet locks, and other low-security applications, since a well-designed skeleton key can successfully open a wide variety of warded locks.
The warded lock is one of the most ancient lock designs still in modern use. During the Middle Ages they were used prolifically on monasteries where, because money and time were not issues, their complexity grew. All had the same inherent problem: by removing most parts of the key, except the bare minimum to operate the bolt, and so producing a skeleton key, the wards could be bypassed.
A ward (区, ku) is a subdivision of the cities of Japan that are large enough to have been designated by government ordinance. Wards are used to subdivide each city designated by government ordinance ("designated city"). The 23 special wards of Tokyo have a quasi-municipal status, and are not the same as other entities referred to as ku, although their predecessors were.
Wards are local entities directly controlled by the municipal government. They handle administrative functions such as koseki registration, health insurance, and property taxation. Many wards have affiliated residents' organizations for a number of tasks, although these do not have any legal authority.
The special wards of Tokyo are not normal wards in the usual sense of the term, but instead an administrative unit governed similar to cities.
Как си ти?
хаха... Устата и John

Все за нощ ще се оправя.
