Lucky (In My Life)

"Lucky (In My Life)" is a song by Italian group Eiffel 65. It was first released in June 2001 as the third single from their album, Contact!. The song reached the top 40 in Austria, Canada, and Italy.

Release history and promotion

Eiffel 65 first performed the song live at Festivalbar in 2001.

The Italian, Canadian and Spanish vinyl releases included 5 mixes of the song. On the German and French vinyl releases, however, it had one less mix of the song than the Italian and Spanish vinyl releases, which was the "Under Deal Trance Mix" by Alex Topuntoli. Some of the CD releases for the single include only two versions of the song, which is the radio edit and a DJ Vortronik radio cut. Some CD releases have six mixes of the song, and other CD releases include all 8 mixes.

"Lucky" is the first track of the album "Contact!". Seven of the mixes of the song were featured on the 2x release of the album, and the Gabry Ponte radio mix of the song is the second track of the iTunes release of the album.

Lucky (Nada Surf album)

Lucky is the fifth album by alternative rock band Nada Surf. It was released on Barsuk in 2008.

Recording

Frontman Matthew Caws said, "I feel like it is a pretty heavy record, and that is a product of John Goodmanson, the guy who made it because even the songs that were even moderately rocking – now that they are mixed and mastered, they feel like they are really kickin’ even when they are relatively quiet, so that’s thanks to him. I think it is a little heavier than Let Go, but it’s not as heavy as The Proximity Effect."

In 2007, the band issued a statement asking for testimonies revolving around the word "Lucky", in order to include them to the album artwork.

Release

The album was met with moderate success and favorable reviews. Lucky reached #82 on the Billboard 200. The single, "See These Bones", was listed by The Times as one of London's Best Songs of 2008, and described it as "2008's most overpoweringly propulsive and gloriously euphoric song".

Details

The song "See These Bones" premiered on the Anti-Hit List Podcast on October 20, 2007. Due to a misquotation of Matthew Caws, the album was first expected to be called Time for Plan A.

One Hundred and One Dalmatians

One Hundred and One Dalmatians, often written 101 Dalmatians, is a 1961 American animated adventure film produced by Walt Disney Productions and adapted from Dodie Smith's 1956 novel of the same name. It is the 17th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. It stars Rod Taylor and Cate Bauer as, respectively, the voices of Pongo and Perdita, its canine protagonists, and Betty Lou Gerson as the voice of Cruella de Vil, its antagonist who kidnaps their puppies.

The film was originally released to theaters on January 25, 1961, by Buena Vista Distribution. Upon release, it was a box office hit, successfully pulling the studio out of the financial setbacks caused by Sleeping Beauty, a costlier production released two years prior. Aside from its box office revenue, its commercial success was due to the employment of inexpensive animation techniques—such as using xerography during the process of inking and painting traditional animation cels—that kept production costs down. It was reissued to cinemas four times: in 1969, 1979, 1985 and 1991. The 1991 reissue was the twentieth highest earning film of the year for domestic earnings. It was remade into a live action film in 1996.

Goldfinger (album)

Goldfinger is the first album by ska punk band Goldfinger, released on Mojo Records in February 1996 and produced by Mojo founder Jay Rifkin. The album was a hit on college radio. The sound of the album was compatible with the third wave of ska which was popular at the time. The single "Here in Your Bedroom" was a top 5 rock hit in the U.S. in the summer of 1996, and also reached #47 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart, making it their highest charting single ever. The album was certified Gold in Canada (50,000 copies) in 2002.

Horns on the album are provided by members of other Southern California ska and ska punk bands, including trombonist Dan Regan and trumpeter Scott Klopfenstein of Reel Big Fish and saxophonist Efren Santana of Hepcat. Paul Hampton of The Skeletones provides keyboards on the album and is featured in the video for "Here In Your Bedroom".

Goldfinger (soundtrack)

Goldfinger is the soundtrack for the third James Bond film of the same name.

This is the first of three James Bond films with a theme song sung by Shirley Bassey, whose forceful, dramatic style became a series trademark (she would go on to sing Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker). "Goldfinger" was composed by John Barry, with lyrics by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, and is widely acknowledged as a classic of its genre. Co-producer Harry Saltzman is said to have hated the song as too old fashioned for 1960s youth culture and only agreed to use it when persuaded by Albert Broccoli

Originally, Newley recorded a version of the theme song, but it was later re-recorded with Bassey's voice for the film and soundtrack album. In 1992, Newley's version was released for the 30th Anniversary of James Bond on film, in the compilation collectors edition The Best of Bond...James Bond.

The score was composed by Barry, making this his second, credited Bond score. The score makes regular use of instrumental arrangements of the title theme, as well as the Bond theme from Dr. No used in the gun barrel sequence . The score makes heavy use of brass. The distinctive music for Goldfinger's henchman, Oddjob, makes use of repeated strokes on a metallic anvil. Metallic chimes are also heard in many scenes associated with Oddjob or gold, notably that in which the dead golden girl is discovered. The very effective use of music and various sound effects in the film won it an Academy Award for Best Sound Editing. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and spent 70 total weeks on the chart, but for reasons that remain unclear, received no RIAA certification.

Goldfinger (Shirley Bassey song)

"Goldfinger" was the title song from the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger. Composed by John Barry and with lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, the song was performed by Shirley Bassey for the film's opening and closing title sequences, as well as the soundtrack album release. The single release of the song gave Bassey her only Billboard Hot 100 top forty hit, peaking in the Top 10 at number eight and at number two for four weeks on the Adult Contemporary chart, and in the United Kingdom the single reached number 21.

The song finished at #53 in AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema. In 2008, the single was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Background

Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley were asked to create the lyrics for the song. But when its composer John Barry played them the first three notes, Bricusse and Newley looked at each other and sang out: ". . . wider than a mile," to the melody of "Moon River," the popular theme song from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Barry was not amused.
