Actors Lee Hyun-wook and Jeong Jae-hyun, who is better known as "Jaehyun" of K-pop boy group NCT, will be co-starring in the drama adaptation of the 2000 romance film, "Bungee Jumping of Their Own."
Lee's agency, Management Air, and Jeong's agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed that the actors have taken the lead roles in the upcoming series.
Directed by Kim Dae-seung, who is known for directing the historical films, "The Magician" and "The Concubine," the film follows college sweethearts In-woo (Lee Byung-Hun) and Tae-hee (Lee Eun-Ji), who fall in love at a first sight.
Despite their promise of eternal love for each other, Tae-hee disappears out of the blue. Seventeen years later, In-woo meets one of the students he teaches, Hyeon-bin, who constantly reminds him of Tae-hee, and so he clings to the hope of finding her as his first love again.
The original film received several awards from the Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards. It has been picked up by the local over-the-top service, Kakao TV, for a remake, about 20 years after the initial release.
Lee will play the role of In-woo and Jeong will play the role of Hyeon-bin.
The series is set to premiere during the latter half of next year.
Lee debuted in 2010 with the short film, "Thorn Hearted." He has starred in various films and series, including the recent hit series, "Mine," which won him great popularity.
Jeong debuted as a member of NCT in 2016 and began acting with the romance series, "Dear. M," which halted production after the lead actor, Park Hye-soo, faced a bullying scandal. This series will be the second acting project for the singer-actor.
