Learning Chinese alphabet is the most important step towards Chinese Pinyin and character learning. We categorize all the letters in Chinese alphabet into initial consonants and final vowels, which are the two parts of Chinese pinyin. In this way you can easily master the rules of the alphabet system in Chinese.
Actually it's controversy about whether or not there is a Chinese alphabet, since the standard Chinese writing system uses a non-alphabetic script and there is no original alphabet native to China. However, Hanyu Pinyin is the most widely accepted standard for romanizing Mandarin Chinese. It was developed in the late 1950s, officially adopted in mainland China in 1979, and accepted as an international standard for romanizing Chinese. Although the pinyin system uses the Roman alphabet, it has reassigned a few letters to sounds that are quite different from what an English speaker would expect. Therefore, it is extremely important to memorize the pinyin pronunciation if one is to have a reasonably close approximation to the Mandarin sounds that it is representing.
Pinyin has been successfully adopted as a system for representing Mandarin Chinese pronunciation and as a system for romanizing Chinese characters. Pinyin is also widely used for entering characters into a computer.
It just makes the Chinese learning journey whole lot easier! So, I wouldn't ask, "Is there a Chinese alphabet?" instead would start using Chinese alphabet and pinyin to learn the Chinese language.
I hope that while you're learning Chinese online, you'll find this video about Chinese alphabets helpful. Besides, the Chinese letters alphabet used in this video is the simplified Mainland Chinese not Cantonese.
Today, we’re going to lean the initials in Chinese pinyin. They are the consonants.
Let’s have a quick overview of these initials. Most of them look similar to English letters.
Let’s start with the first four and learn the pronunciations.
B p m f – these four tend to have same endings ‘_uo’
D t n l g k h – once again, they have same kind of ending ‘_uh’
The tongue positioning will be very important.
zh- no aspiration (take the sound halfway between joke and church and curl it upwards); very similar to merger in American English, but not voiced
ch - Like zh above, but with strong aspiration. Similar to chin, but with the tongue curled upwards; very similar to nurture in American English, but strongly aspirated
sh- as in shinbone, but with the tongue curled upwards; very similar to undershirt in American English
r- similar to the English r in rank, but with the lips spread and with the tongue curled upwards
It will take some practice to be able to correctly pronounce these consonants

Chinese Language, also called Chinese Han, includes a variety of dialects. Mandarin Chinese is the official language of the Mainland China and Taiwan, and one of the official languages of Singapore. Modern Standard Chinese is also one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
Many people start to realize that learning Chinese Mandarin is getting more and more popular and useful, no matter you are a school student, traveling in China, or dealing business with Chinese.
Actually, Learning Chinese Mandarin is never going to be easy, just as any of the second language. Mandarin Chinese use tones to indicate differences of meaning between words or syllables. Modern Standard Chinese has four tones and Chinese words often have only one syllable.
