A bachelor party also known as a stag party, stag night, stag do, stag weekend (in Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, and New Zealand), or a buck's night (in Australia) is a party held for a man shortly before he enters marriage, to celebrate his "last night of freedom". A bachelor party is usually planned by the groom, occasionally with the assistance of a bachelor party planning company. As it is a celebration of a man's last night of freedom, it is quite common but not always the case that friends of the groom will organize female company such as strippers or topless waitresses as a last goodbye to that part of the groom's life. It is also common that it is a last-ditch attempt to lead the groom into temptation before the wedding and to make sure he is fully committed to his marriage proposal.
The equivalent event for the bride-to-be is known as a bachelorette party or hens' night.
Some also choose instead to hold a so-called Stag and Doe party in the US, or a hag party or hag do in the UK ("hag" being a combination of the words "hen" and "stag"), in which both the bride and groom attend.

Ted has planned out a bachelor party for Marshall, since he is his best man. Barney wants to offer some input, but Marshall has said that he does not want a stripper at his bachelor party. Barney keeps trying to convince Ted, but Ted doesn't want to hear any of it from Barney. Ted's planned bachelor party involved watching a boxing match and eating large steaks from a cow he bought online. Barney foils this by amazingly getting a stripper into the hotel room (even though Barney thought that they were going to Atlantic City rather than Foxwoods). To make matters worse, the stripper breaks her ankle, causing everyone to miss the boxing match as she must go to the hospital, and then Barney demands that she continue on with the rest of her show, as she wants to do it. The rest of her show causes everyone but Barney to lose their appetite, and to top it all off, they are kicked out of the hotel due to a fire caused by Barney's cigar. Marshall and Ted return to MacLaren's bar, mad that Barney ruined the bachelor party.

It's the last time, it's the last chance
It's a fond farewell to a golden age
And it's hard to tell until it's gone away
It's a long goodbye to carefree life
It's the last chance to get out of line
What's going on here?
It's the end of an era
It's a precious moment
And the moment's gonna last
It's gonna last all night
