Oea

Oea was a Roman colony in Berber Africa. It was originally founded by the Phoenicians. As part of the Roman Africa Nova province, Oea and surrounding Tripolitania was prosperous and reached a golden age in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, when the city (mainly thanks to the Severan dynasty originated from nearby Leptis Magna) was at its height. Oea is now called Tripoli in modern Libya.

History

The city was founded in the 7th century BC, by the Phoenicians, who gave it the Libyco-Berber name Oea (or Wy't), suggesting that the city may have been built upon an existing native Berber village. The Phoenicians were probably attracted to the site by its natural harbour, flanked on the western shore by the small, easily defensible peninsula, on which they established their colony. The city then passed into the hands of the rulers of Cyrenaica (a Greek colony on the North African shore, east of Tripoli, halfway to Egypt), although the Carthaginians later wrested it from the Greeks.

By the later half of the 2nd century BC it belonged to the Romans, who included it in their province of Africa, and gave it the name of Regio Syrtica. Around the beginning of the 3rd century AD, it became known as the Regio Tripolitana, meaning "region of the three cities", namely Oea (modern Tripoli of Libya), Sabratha and Leptis Magna. It was probably raised to the rank of a separate province by Septimius Severus, who was a native of Leptis Magna.

The numero sign or numero symbol, № (also represented as Nº, No, No. or no., plural Nos. or nos.), is a typographic abbreviation of the word number(s) indicating ordinal numeration, especially in names and titles. For example, with the numero sign, the written long-form of the address "Number 22 Acacia Avenue" is shortened to "№ 22 Acacia Avenue", yet both forms are spoken long.

Typographically, the numero sign combines the upper-case Latin letter N with a usually superscript lower-case letter o, sometimes underlined, resembling the masculine ordinal indicator. In Unicode, the character is U+2116 № NUMERO SIGN (HTML №).

The Oxford English Dictionary derives the numero sign from Latin numero, the ablative form of numerus ("number", with the ablative denotations of: "by the number, with the number"). In Romance languages, the numero sign is understood as an abbreviation of the word for "number", e.g. Italian numero, French numéro, and Catalan, Galician, Portuguese and Spanish número.

Dinitrogen trioxide

Dinitrogen trioxide is the chemical compound with the formula N₂O₃. This deep blue solid is one of the binary nitrogen oxides. It forms upon mixing equal parts of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide and cooling the mixture below −21 °C (−6 °F):

Dinitrogen trioxide is only isolable at low temperatures, i.e. in the liquid and solid phases. At higher temperatures the equilibrium favors the constituent gases, with K_diss = 193 kPa (25 °C).

Structure and bonding

Typically, N–N bonds are similar in length to that in hydrazine (145 pm). Dinitrogen trioxide, however, has an unusually long N–N bond at 186 pm. Some other nitrogen oxides do also possess long N–N bonds, including dinitrogen tetroxide (175 pm). The N₂O₃ molecule is planar and exhibits Cs symmetry. It is the anhydride of the unstable nitrous acid (HNO₂), and produces it when mixed into water. An alternative structure might be anticipated for the true anhydride, i.e. O=N–O–N=O, but this isomer is not observed. If the nitrous acid is not then used up quickly, it decomposes into nitric oxide and nitric acid. Nitrite salts are sometimes produced by adding N₂O₃ to solutions of bases:

Nuh (sura)

Sūrat Nūḥ (Arabic: سورة نوح‎, "Noah") is the 71st sura of the Qur'an with 28 ayat. It is about the Islamic prophet Noah (Nūḥ) and his complaint about his people rejecting all warning God gave them through Noah.

Summary

In Nuh, the 71st surah, the Quran refers to Nuh’s prophethood in snippets. Nuh is a messenger of God. When Nuh realizes the messages are not accepted by the community, he supplicated to God. God planned to flood the community of Nuh at a specificied time. God commanded Nuh to warn the people of the flood. God brings forth the water from the skies to prove Nuh’s message to be accurate. In the Quran, the flood is a symbolization of the mercy of God to the believers. God gives the world a new beginning. The disbelievers disbelieved God's message and messenger Nuh so they were drowned. Because his people are unable to grasp the idea of the existence of one God, the lives of Muhammad and Nuh are parallel to each other for the time of the revelation of this surah. The surah was used to increase the faith of the believers; it shows that Nuh before Muhammad had difficulties in dealing with the disbelievers of his time.
