An #Auckland #vacation leaves visitors spoilt for choice for activities. The city marries modern art and buildings with nature, and the surrounding region has plenty of its own attractions to offer.
Auckland is called the City of Sails, boasting more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Nestled between two natural harbors, it’s no wonder residents and visitors alike enjoy spending time on the water.
Just outside the city are rolling hills, jagged cliffs, and forests with towering treetops. Walk through the Hauna Ranges and be rewarded with the Hunua Falls, an impressive waterfall rushing over a volcanic edge.

Welcome to Auckland. The native Māori people named the area Tāmaki Makaurau, meaning "desired by a hundred men". The attraction is still there today, because Auckland is now the most populous city in New Zealand.
In the City of Sails you are always surrounded by water, as becomes clear when you stand on the top of the top of Mount Eden. A nice inner-city beach is Mission Bay.
Other visitor attractions in Auckland include the stately Auckland War Memorial Museum in Auckland Domain park. Daredevils can base jump from the Sky Tower. Children will love the Rainbow's End theme park and the Auckland Zoo. Auckland has many diverse neighborhoods, such as hip Ponsonby and laid-back Devonport. From the city, you can set sail to the forest reserve of Rangitoto Island and Waiheke island with its wineries.
Auckland gives access to the scenic coastline of the country's volcanic North Island. On the other side of the Waitakere Ranges regional parkland is Piha Beach.
The city's unique Māori influence combined with its comfortable urban facilities and rugged nature make it worthwhile to travel to the far southwest of the Pacific Ocean to see Auckland.

It's rare that visitors restrict themselves solely to the city area. And why would you? There's plenty to see and do right in the heart of the city, but travelling further afield opens the opportunities considerably. You can't miss getting out onto the waters of the Hauraki Gulf and exploring its many islands. One of the closest to the mainland is Waiheke Island, home to emerald waters and world-class wineries. Further north lies Goat Island Marine Reserve, a thriving and accessible aquatic ecosystem.

Downtown Auckland, or Auckland Central, is a commercial district with mainstream fashion stores along Queen Street, and trendy boutiques and oyster bars in the heritage buildings of Britomart.
The Sky Tower offers views over the Hauraki Gulf, while the Auckland Art Gallery displays paintings of Maori leaders. Central Aotea Square hosts craft fairs and concerts.
With the bustling harbour at its centre, Auckland Downtown is a hive of retailing, leisure and big business, but also has plenty of green spaces to break things up a bit.
As with most harbour cities, all roads lead to the water, and along the way you'll be able to stop off at one of dozens of top class restaurants, swanky new bars and leisurely cafes, to just sit and enjoy Auckland's laid back vibe and colourful culture.

Auckland
Auckland (/ˈɔːklənd/ AWK-lənd), in the North Island of New Zealand, is the largest and most populous urban area in the country. Auckland has a population of 1,454,300, 32 percent of New Zealand's population. It is part of the wider Auckland Region, which includes the rural areas and towns north and south of the urban area, plus the islands of the Hauraki Gulf, resulting in a total population of 1,570,500 that is governed by the Auckland Council. Auckland also has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world. In Māori, Auckland's name is Tāmaki Makaurau and the transliterated version of Auckland is Ākarana.
The Auckland urban area (as defined by Statistics New Zealand) ranges to Waiwera in the north, Kumeu in the northwest, and Runciman in the south. It is not contiguous; the section from Waiwera to Whangaparaoa Peninsula is separate from its nearest neighbouring suburb of Long Bay. Auckland lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. The central part of the urban area occupies a narrow isthmus between the Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and the Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the few cities in the world to have two harbours on two separate major bodies of water.

Auckland (New Zealand electorate)
Auckland (or, more formally, City of Auckland) was a New Zealand electorate. It covered the core of Auckland during the early days of New Zealand democracy, when the city was small enough to be covered by two or three seats.
Population centres
The City of Auckland electorate was one of the original electorates, and was used in the country's first elections. It covered a territory roughly corresponding to the central business district of the city today, and was surrounded by another electorate called Auckland Suburbs. As the city was growing rapidly, however, the electorate did not last long — in the 1860 elections, it was divided into Auckland East and Auckland West.
At the 1890 elections, however, the total number of seats was reduced. This necessitated the re-creation of a seat to cover all of inner Auckland. This was accomplished by merging most of Auckland Central, Auckland West, Auckland North and Ponsonby, and taking a considerable amount of Parnell. In the 1893 elections, the seat absorbed most of Newton electorate, but lost some of its southern territories to the remnants of Parnell. In 1902 elections, Grey Lynn was split away into its own electorate. In the 1905 elections, the remainder of the electorate was split in three, becoming Auckland Central, Auckland East, and Auckland West.

And they are extremely diverse. You can enjoy the architecture of the city centre while walking the streets or having coffee at one of the local cafes. Or admire the view from the tallest building in New Zealand - Sky Tower. Explore Auckland's hidden gems like Ponsonby, Silo Park and Domain Wintergardens or pick one of the touristic must-haves including Mount Eden, Viaduct Harbour or Giapo. Top 18 Auckland attractions is the travel video we've been asked for many times. Lots of people travel to New Zealand and spend time in Auckland, so they want to know what to do and where to go. We got you covered with this 2020 travel video providing up-to-date travel information about top Auckland attractions.
Auckland is not only the biggest city in New Zealand with the busiest airport. This is also a very beautiful region (and a huge one) with so many incredible tourist attractions. And they are extremely diverse. You can enjoy the architecture of the city centre while walking the streets or having coffee at one of the local cafes. Or admire the view from the tallest building in New Zealand - Sky Tower. Explore Auckland's hidden gems like Ponsonby, Silo Park and Domain Wintergardens or pick one of the touristic must-haves including Mount Eden, Viaduct Harbour or Giapo. If you have more time, there is plenty to do outside Auckland city - fantastic black sand beaches (Piha, Anawhata or Muriwai), waterfalls (Hunua) or lighthouses (Manukau Heads).

Welcome to Auckland. The native Māori people named the area Tāmaki Makaurau, meaning "desired by a hundred men". The attraction is still there today, because Auckland is now the most populous city in New Zealand.
In the City of Sails you are always surrounded by water, as becomes clear when you stand on the top of the top of Mount Eden. A nice inner-city beach is Mission Bay.
Other visitor attractions in Auckland include the stately Auckland War Memorial Museum in Auckland Domain park. Daredevils can base jump from the Sky Tower. Children will love the Rainbow's End theme park and the Auckland Zoo. Auckland has many diverse neighborhoods, such as hip Ponsonby and laid-back Devonport. From the city, you can set sail to the forest reserve of Rangitoto Island and Waiheke island with its wineries.
Auckland gives access to the scenic coastline of the country's volcanic North Island. On the other side of the Waitakere Ranges regional parkland is Piha Beach.
The city's unique Māori influence combined with its comfortable urban facilities and rugged nature make it worthwhile to travel to the far southwest of the Pacific Ocean to see Auckland.

The greater Auckland region encompasses the city proper and the gorgeous surrounding towns and landscapes.
It's rare that visitors restrict themselves solely to the city area. And why would you? There's plenty to see and do right in the heart of the city, but travelling further afield opens the opportunities considerably. You can't miss getting out onto the waters of the Hauraki Gulf and exploring its many islands. One of the closest to the mainland is Waiheke Island, home to emerald waters and world-class wineries. Further north lies Goat Island Marine Reserve, a thriving and accessible aquatic ecosystem.
The natural delights on offer go beyond the area's beautiful waters. Rainforests, thermal springs, sprawling parks and volcanic cones are just the start.

Downtown Auckland, or Auckland Central, is a commercial district with mainstream fashion stores along Queen Street, and trendy boutiques and oyster bars in the heritage buildings of Britomart.
The Sky Tower offers views over the Hauraki Gulf, while the Auckland Art Gallery displays paintings of Maori leaders. Central Aotea Square hosts craft fairs and concerts.
With the bustling harbour at its centre, Auckland Downtown is a hive of retailing, leisure and big business, but also has plenty of green spaces to break things up a bit.
As with most harbour cities, all roads lead to the water, and along the way you'll be able to stop off at one of dozens of top class restaurants, swanky new bars and leisurely cafes, to just sit and enjoy Auckland's laid back vibe and colourful culture.

Auckland
Auckland (/ˈɔːklənd/ AWK-lənd), in the North Island of New Zealand, is the largest and most populous urban area in the country. Auckland has a population of 1,454,300, 32 percent of New Zealand's population. It is part of the wider Auckland Region, which includes the rural areas and towns north and south of the urban area, plus the islands of the Hauraki Gulf, resulting in a total population of 1,570,500 that is governed by the Auckland Council. Auckland also has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world. In Māori, Auckland's name is Tāmaki Makaurau and the transliterated version of Auckland is Ākarana.
The Auckland urban area (as defined by Statistics New Zealand) ranges to Waiwera in the north, Kumeu in the northwest, and Runciman in the south. It is not contiguous; the section from Waiwera to Whangaparaoa Peninsula is separate from its nearest neighbouring suburb of Long Bay. Auckland lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. The central part of the urban area occupies a narrow isthmus between the Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and the Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the few cities in the world to have two harbours on two separate major bodies of water.
