Die (integrated circuit)
A die in the context of integrated circuits is a small block of semiconducting material, on which a given functional circuit is fabricated. Typically, integrated circuits are produced in large batches on a single wafer of electronic-grade silicon (EGS) or other semiconductor (such as GaAs) through processes such as photolithography. The wafer is cut (“diced”) into many pieces, each containing one copy of the circuit. Each of these pieces is called a die.
There are three commonly used plural forms: dice, dies, and die.

Decapping ICs (removing epoxy packaging from chips to expose the dies)
I thought it would be interesting to try decapping some chips. This involves using fuming nitric acid, which also seemed fun, so I thought I would give it a go. The process starts by milling a precise pocket into the IC using my CNC machine. I used carbide tooling to cut the glass fiber/epoxy material. I then put a drop or two of the acid into the pocket, and raised the temperature to about 100*C. The acid dissolves the epoxy packaging as it sort of "dries". I added more acid to the pocket every few minutes. After about 10 minutes, I washed the IC in acetone, then reapplied acid if there was still material left on the die. Eventually, it was all cleared away, and I had a nice decapped IC.

Our innovative 3D packaging techniques and use of the latest epoxy thermoset materials provides for a reliable and durable overmolded module. The underfill and overmolding process is executed simultaneously, resulting in a simplified manufacturing process. Small particle sizes are used for underfill of BGAs, flip chips, and wirebond encapsulation. For high wattage modules, ISI performs a thorough thermal analysis and incorporates custom heatsinks when required.

What are Industrial Dies? Industrial Stamping Dies in Die Shoes
Kevin Potter of Potter USA explains how these antique industrial dies work. They are forming and piercing dies in a die shoe, used in a hydraulic press. These are dies from the Frank Morrow Company, a metal stamping business that was around for over 100 years in Rhode Island. They provided stamping for lamps at the beginning of their business. The dies eventually made large strips of metal used in wall coverings and pieces of art.
Many artists were familiar with the Frank Morrow Company and ordered strips of formed metal for their work.

Before car production begins on the assembly line, more than 2,000 trials are made to correct even the tiniest of defects on the die casting that are impossible to measure. A single die casting for thousands of creations: For a car door to be perfect it must be cast in a flawless die.
These are one of a kind moulds that for example shape all the front doors of a model. If the die has an imperfection, it will be repeated on all those vehicles. The artisan die makers at Audi Tooling Barcelona, the partner company entrusted with creating them for SEAT, make sure this never happens...

Reflexive pronouns and intensive pronouns in English
This is an English grammar lesson about reflexive pronouns and intensive pronouns.
Here is the list: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves and themselves)
Reflexive pronouns are used when the subject and object of the sentence are the same person. They take the place of the object and they reflect back to the subject.
An example is "I hurt myself while playing football." In this lesson, I explain in detail how to use these pronouns to form reflexive verbs as well as describing common mistakes and how to avoid making them.
Intensive pronouns are the same words as the reflexives but are used very differently. We use them to emphasise a noun (the antecedent), usually the subject.

Reflexive pronouns in English – myself, yourself, himself, herself, themselves, ourselves
Today, you will learn Reflexive Pronouns in English.
Reflexive pronouns indicate that the person who implements the action of the verb is also the recipient of the action.
In English grammar, such pronouns are used with verbs in the sense of the return of an action to yourself. We can see that in the cases where the subject and the object in the same sentence are the same person, reflexive pronouns are used.

Reflexive Pronouns.
What are Reflexive Pronouns?
Pronouns are words that replace a noun or noun phrase!
“Reflexive pronouns” are words that refer
back to the subject of a sentence or clause!
These words end in either “-self” as in the singular form
or “-selves” as in the plural form.
There are eight reflexive pronouns!
They are “Myself, yourself, himself, herself,
itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves.”
I did not include “Oneself.”
It is considered old English and
is rarely used in spoken English.
These same pronouns are
also used as “Intensifying pronouns.”
Can you find the reflexive pronouns?
I can see myself in the mirror!
Can you see yourself in that new job?
He was looking at himself in the window reflection!
Help yourselves to the food and enjoy the party.
She sent herself a copy of the letter today!
My dog hurt itself while climbing over the fence!
We blame ourselves for the poor company profits!
They always take care of themselves!
I would like to see myself in that new car.
Can you see yourself living in that country?
My cat fed itself last night!
He always compliments himself after cooking a meal!
We will just have to do it ourselves!
Start dinner without me, just help yourselves!
Some people have to learn how to help themselves!
Study your English everyday for the best results.
Remember that nobody knows the entire English language.
The main idea with all languages is to
effectively communicate with others.
This video is just a small introduction
to reflexive pronouns.
