I found a CD-rom drive from the old computer. So I tried making a CD-player from it. CD-rom drives use 12V and 5V voltage. So I used an LM2596 buck module to convert the 12V voltage into 5V. I also use the pam8403 amplifier module. It has a capacity of 3W 3W at 5V. When I put the CD in the drive, it just turned a moment and then stopped. I took it off and found the play button was hidden. Soldering play button. Turn on the power ........... bingo ... it worked. In the following video I will create a controller for this cdrom drive, adding more functions such as timer. play, stop etc ... wait for me.
All my projects are free, I design them on EAGLE 6.0. I uploaded it to Google drive. You need to use a web browser to download the file and open the file with winrar software (extract) on the PC. Open schematic file (.SCH) and PCB file (.BRD) with EAGLE software.

A CD-ROM /ˌsiːˌdiːˈrɒm/ is a pre-pressed optical compact disc which contains data. The name is an acronym which stands for "Compact Disc Read-Only Memory". Computers can read CD-ROMs, but cannot write to CD-ROMs which are not writable or erasable.
Until the mid-2000s, CD-ROMs were popularly used to distribute software for computers and video game consoles. Some CDs, called enhanced CDs, hold both computer data and audio with the latter capable of being played on a CD player, while data (such as software or digital video) is only usable on a computer (such as ISO 9660 format PC CD-ROMs).
The Yellow Book is the technical standard that defines the format of CD-ROMs. One of a set of color-bound books that contain the technical specifications for all CD formats, the Yellow Book, created by Sony and Philips in 1988, was the first extension of Compact Disc Digital Audio. It adapted the format to hold any form of digital data.

CD-ROMs are identical in appearance to audio CDs, and data are stored and retrieved in a very similar manner (only differing from audio CDs in the standards used to store the data). The most common size of CD-ROM is 120 mm in diameter, though the smaller Mini CD standard with an 80 mm diameter, as well as shaped compact discs in numerous non-standard sizes and molds (e.g., business card-sized media) are also available.

The TurboGrafx-16 Entertainment SuperSystem, known in Japan and in France as the PC Engine (PCエンジン, Pī Shī Enjin), is a home video game console joint-developed by Hudson Soft and NEC, released in Japan on October 30, 1987, in the United States on August 29, 1989, and in France on November 22, 1989. It was the first console released in the 16-bit era, albeit still utilizing an 8-bit CPU. Originally intended to compete with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), it ended up competing with the Sega Genesis, and later on the Super NES.
The TurboGrafx-16 has an 8-bit CPU and a dual 16-bit GPU. The GPU is capable of displaying 482 colors simultaneously, out of 512. With dimensions of 14 cm×14 cm×3.8 cm (5.5 in×5.5 in×1.5 in), the NEC PC Engine once held the record for the world's smallest game console.
In France, the system was released shortly after its American debut under its original Japanese name, PC Engine. In the United Kingdom, Telegames released a slightly altered version of the American model simply as the TurboGrafx in 1990 in extremely limited quantities. This model was also released in Spain through selected retailers. Although there was no full-scale PAL region release of the system, imported PC Engine consoles were largely available in France and Benelux through major retailers thanks to the unlicensed importer Sodipeng (Société de Distribution de la PC Engine, a subsidiary of Guillemot International).

Make a CD Player From Old CDrom
I found a CD-rom drive from the old computer. So I tried making a CD-player from it. CD-rom drives use 12V and 5V voltage. So I used an LM2596 buck module to convert the 12V voltage into 5V. I also use the pam8403 amplifier module. It has a capacity of 3W 3W at 5V. When I put the CD in the drive, it just turned a moment and then stopped. I took it off and found the play button was hidden. Soldering play button. Turn on the power ........... bingo ... it worked. In the following video I will create a controller for this cdrom drive, adding more functions such as timer. play, stop etc ... wait for me. All my projects are free, I design them on EAGLE 6.0. I found a CD-rom drive from the old computer. So I tried making a CD-player from it. CD-rom drives use 12V and 5V voltage. So I used an LM2596 buck module to convert the 12V voltage into 5V. I also use the pam8403 amplifier module. It has a capacity of 3W 3W at 5V. When I put the CD in the drive, it just turned a moment and then stopped. I took it off and found the play button was hidden. Soldering play button. Turn on the power ........... bingo ... it worked. In the following video I will create a controller for this cdrom drive, adding more functions such as timer. play, stop etc ... wait for me.
All my projects are free, I design them on EAGLE 6.0. I uploaded it to Google drive. You need to use a web browser to download the file and open the file with winrar software (extract) on the PC. Open schematic file (.SCH) and PCB file (.BRD) with EAGLE software.

I found a CD-rom drive from the old computer. So I tried making a CD-player from it. CD-rom drives use 12V and 5V voltage. So I used an LM2596 buck module to convert the 12V voltage into 5V. I also use the pam8403 amplifier module. It has a capacity of 3W 3W at 5V. When I put the CD in the drive, it just turned a moment and then stopped. I took it off and found the play button was hidden. Soldering play button. Turn on the power ........... bingo ... it worked. In the following video I will create a controller for this cdrom drive, adding more functions such as timer. play, stop etc ... wait for me.
All my projects are free, I design them on EAGLE 6.0. I uploaded it to Google drive. You need to use a web browser to download the file and open the file with winrar software (extract) on the PC. Open schematic file (.SCH) and PCB file (.BRD) with EAGLE software.

A CD-ROM /ˌsiːˌdiːˈrɒm/ is a pre-pressed optical compact disc which contains data. The name is an acronym which stands for "Compact Disc Read-Only Memory". Computers can read CD-ROMs, but cannot write to CD-ROMs which are not writable or erasable.
Until the mid-2000s, CD-ROMs were popularly used to distribute software for computers and video game consoles. Some CDs, called enhanced CDs, hold both computer data and audio with the latter capable of being played on a CD player, while data (such as software or digital video) is only usable on a computer (such as ISO 9660 format PC CD-ROMs).
The Yellow Book is the technical standard that defines the format of CD-ROMs. One of a set of color-bound books that contain the technical specifications for all CD formats, the Yellow Book, created by Sony and Philips in 1988, was the first extension of Compact Disc Digital Audio. It adapted the format to hold any form of digital data.

CD-ROMs are identical in appearance to audio CDs, and data are stored and retrieved in a very similar manner (only differing from audio CDs in the standards used to store the data). Discs are made from a 1.2 mm thick disc of polycarbonate plastic, with a thin layer of aluminium to make a reflective surface. The most common size of CD-ROM is 120 mm in diameter, though the smaller Mini CD standard with an 80 mm diameter, as well as shaped compact discs in numerous non-standard sizes and molds (e.g., business card-sized media) are also available.
