west texas Lyrics:
i can see the sky for miles, I can see that time so clear
When you told me "forever" was a word that I should not fear
I can see you driving and smoking, Virginia Slims on the dash
On that day I was crying, you stopped the car, looked back
You said

From Gotham to isolated, code & debt-free West Texas estate
Seven years ago John Wells sold his heavily-mortgaged home in upstate New York and bought 40 acres in West Texas for $8000. The area (Brewster County) is so isolated there are no codes or zoning restrictions so Wells built his own tiny home (in 9 days with $1600) relying on his set-building experience.
Not wanting to rely on outside labor, Wells has continued to build his own services: a solar shower, a basic composting toilet, a bike-powered washing machine, an Airstream guest house, and a huge greenhouse which also houses 4 shipping containers he hopes to convert to housing/office space.
Wells named his homestead (now 40 acres, he bought a second 20 acres for $500) the Field Lab (short for “Southwest Texas Alternative Energy and Sustainable Living Field Laboratory”) and he likes to exp...

The Most Remote Villages in West Texas Along the River Road, Beyond Big Bend Ranch State Park
The river road (FM 170) goes west of Lajitas, Texas along the Rio Grande. Today we travel along this road through Ruidosa to where the pavement ends (and a little beyond) in the village of Candelaria. Along the way we'll see several old adobe structures. It's so remote that it felt as though I had traveled to a foreign land.

west texas Lyrics:
i can see the sky for miles, I can see that time so clear
When you told me "forever" was a word that I should not fear
I can see you driving and smoking, Virginia Slims on the dash
On that day I was crying, you stopped the car, looked back
You said
"Boy, get the message, this ain't no New York City
Born and bred in West Texas, raised you to be different
No matter how it ends, no matter all your sin
I hope you will understand
When I leave, you better be a good man"
I can see that house in the summer, baseball in the yard
And when my knees got bloody, you told me keep playing hard
I remember mass on Sundays, collared up to the ten
You were so damn faithful, even if it all was a mess
And in those years that we weren't speaking
When I was drinking for some meaning
You called me on the phone and then you said, hey
"Boy, get the message, this ain't no New York City
Born and bred in West Texas, raised you to be different
No matter how it ends, no matter all your sin
I hope you will understand
When I leave, you better be a good man"
"You better be a good man"
And it's so hard to imagine what I'll do without you here
As you gaze your eyes towards mine, tell me to wipe away those tears
You say Jesus loves you, always will, no matter what you did
And in that moment, I'm a kid again
You said
"Boy, get the message, this ain't no New York City
Born and bred in West Texas, raised you to be different
No matter how it ends, no matter all your sin
I hope you will understand
When I leave, you better be a good man"

If you haven't been to West Texas, grab a Shiner and join us on our adventure! This area has a desert charm all of its own. You're really out there. Researching this trip was a little challenging - since the park is so remote. Located at the very border of Texas and Mexico, divided by the Rio Grande River, Big Bend National Park is a land all of its own. Once called the "uninhabitable" land it previously belonged to Mexico, the landscape is big, bold and beautiful - but harsh as a desert can be. This summer many areas are closed in the park, so we will definitely have to come back. Even with things closed, there is still a lot to see.
Our day in Big Bend was so long that we split this video into two parts. We stayed in the town of Alpine and drove in over 60 miles to the north entrance. Driving into the area we explored the artsy town of Marfa, Texas. Marfa has a really cool artsy vibe, we stopped at the Al Campo Wine Bar and enjoyed cold beers and chips and pico. They have cool AirBnBs and unusual stays that include tee-pees, rv campers, glowing orbs and even a VW Bug. In livelier times I imagine this town is very vibrant. Marfa is also known for mysterious lights that show up at night that are unexplained. We had to check that out. They have an observatory that we headed back to after the park to see just what the fuss was about. Aliens? No one knows! I am still thinking it could be some lady that just likes to dance with a lantern at night. (just kidding you guys)
Being out in the desert, you just run into some weird things. Two more on this trip were remote art installations - one outside of Marfa, the Prada Marfa - and the other the Marathon Target. Are they a statement on consumerism? An art installation? Apparently in the Prada they only have right shoes and no lefts. It's up to you to decide- all I know is that they have become an iconic part of pop culture as you drive to the ends of the earth. If Beyonce has been there, we figured it was definitely worth a stop.
Inside Big Bend National Park, the land changes and is unworldly. We saw the Rio Grande River, waved at Mexico and saw the most beautiful sunset I can remember seeing. The Santa Elena Canyon, planned hikes, hot springs, river boat ride to Mexico for margaritas will all have to wait. If you drive to the far West of the park you exit and we recommend a stop into the tiny town of Terlingua. They're certainly keeping it weird over there - it's so remote there are a handful of establishments to stay and/or get food and drinks. When we were there the only establishment open during the day was the High Sierra Bar and Grill. We made friends with the bartender Calhoon and heard some stories about the locals. Wandering towards the ends of the States as we know it in Terlingua we explore the ruins of the ghost town and cemetery.
Staying in the park until dark you get stopped by border control and you're honestly the only ones out there. For the three cars we saw all day, at the very end of the day we were so shocked to run into one of the cars at the Rio Grande River, of all people in the world to be in this one place at this one time, they were also from St. Petersburg, FL. Even had a hat from Green Bench Brewing and the guys took a picture together wearing their matching hats. What a small world. After a full day at the park, followed by looking for Marfa lights, we took our tired selves back to Penny's 24/7 diner for their Pick 3 breakfast. Eating the same meal twice in one day. West Texas we'll be back!

Italian Action Western published in 1966 starring Franco Nero as Django: Texas, Adios - A Texan sheriff and his younger brother travel across the border into Mexico to confront the man who killed their father.
Texas, Adios (1966)

Country: Italy | Spain
Language: English
Release Date: 17 February 1967 (West Germany)
Also Known As: Texas adios
Filming Locations: Cabo de Gata, Almería, Andalucía, Spain
Storyline:
The tough gun-man Burt Sullivan (Franco Nero) leaves his job as a town sheriff to go to Mexico to find the man, Cisco, who killed his father many years ago. He and his younger brother arrive in a small town where everybody is afraid of Cisco who has become the local landowner. But there is a secret. It turns out that Cisco is the father of Burt's younger brother and Cisco are craving for respect from his "son". Burt Sullivan joins forces with the local townspeople to stop and bring Cisco back to his punishment in Texas.
Reviews:
"Ferdinando Baldi is one of those Italian directors who had the magical ability to make great films such as this one.
Franco Nero, one of the best Italian actors ever reaches once more the highest peak in performance in this great Italy/Spanish co-production.
If you don´t like this film, you probably won´t like none of the 500 westerns filmed in Europe, and that means this is not your genre, so then forget all about it and watch stuff like "Star trek" or "2001", you´ll probably find it more exciting.
Action, action & more action is what you´ll get from this excellent spaghetti-western.
(10 out 10)" Written by f.gimenez on IMDb.com
"Lawman Franco Nero and his younger brother say adiós to Texas and travel south of the border to seek justice for their long murdered father. Soon they discover that the killer is now a wealthy and oppressive landowner with some secrets to tell regarding the two brothers.
Not as flamboyant as other Italian westerns, this is more like an American western in it's straight forwardness, though with a few European quirks and a bit more excessive violence.
Still, it's colorful and entertaining with good location photography and an excellent musical score. Franco Nero's always good.
Speaking of Nero, any western film with him in the lead invites unfair comparisons to Django. This is no exception." Written by FightingWesterner on IMDb.com
