Jacksonville, Florida (USA) is the largest city in the contiguous USA. And yet, it has the fame that there are not many things to do here. Let me show you how people are wrong.
We start the day downtown Jacksonville, and despite the rainy weather, we get to see several murals, the famous Florida Theater, and the riverside. We then go visit Avondale, a really nice neighborhood. In the afternoon we start heading towards the beach. After a quick stop at Fort Caroline, we end up at Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach.
Jacksonville, Florida is the first major city in the state when you drive from Savannah, Georgia like we did.

. We will show the surrounding areas of JAX, the coastal areas of JAX Bch, Neptune Beach, Fernandina Beach, as will as the downtown areas of Riverside, Brooklyn, the South Bank. It will show the evidence, that Jacksonville is growing, maybe not as quick as Tampa or Miami, but some very good things happening.

We start at I-95 at the north end of the I-295 Beltway and travel into downtown Jacksonville for a tour, then continue on I-95 to the south end of the I-295 Beltway. At some point in the future we will do a full feature on Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.
We titled this video "City in Waiting". After demolishing Jacksonville Landing, Jacksonville is alittle quiet. They have had a couple of developments fall through. After doing Tampa who is well into developing their waterfront areas, you feel alittle bit for the city of Jacksonville, there is certainly alittle bit of disappointment. I do believe however, good things are in the future for this growing southeastern city. Jaguars owner Shadid Khan, I believe will provide that spark to re-energize downtown. They are expected to begin construction in 2021 of a development along the waterfront that will connect the urban core to the sports and entertainment complex. I was alittle shocked that all they have planned for the site of the former Jacksonville landing is a urban park. However the downtown area has too much potentional with the St Johns River and I believe although maybe 5 or more years behind Tampa, it will soon become a popular tourist destination.

Jacksonville, Florida
Jacksonville is the largest city by population in the U.S. state of Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. It is the county seat of Duval County, with which the city government consolidated in 1968. Consolidation gave Jacksonville its great size and placed most of its metropolitan population within the city limits; with an estimated population of 853,382 in 2014, it is the most populous city proper in Florida and the Southeast, and the 12th most populous in the United States. Jacksonville is the principal city in the Jacksonville metropolitan area, with a population of 1,345,596 in 2010.
Jacksonville is in the First Coast region of northeast Florida and is centered on the banks of the St. Johns River, about 25 miles (40 km) south of the Georgia state line and about 340 miles (550 km) north of Miami. The Jacksonville Beaches communities are along the adjacent Atlantic coast. The area was originally inhabited by the Timucua people, and in 1564 was the site of the French colony of Fort Caroline, one of the earliest European settlements in what is now the continental United States. Under British rule, settlement grew at the narrow point in the river where cattle crossed, known as Wacca Pilatka to the Seminole and the Cow Ford to the British. A platted town was established there in 1822, a year after the United States gained Florida from Spain; it was named after Andrew Jackson, the first military governor of the Florida Territory and seventh President of the United States.

Jacksonville, Florida (USA) is the largest city in the contiguous USA. And yet, it has the fame that there are not many things to do here. Let me show you how people are wrong. We start the day downtown Jacksonville, and despite the rainy weather, we get to see several murals, the famous Florida Theater, and the riverside. We then go visit Avondale, a really nice neighborhood. In the afternoon we start heading towards the beach. After a quick stop at Fort Caroline, we end up at Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Jacksonville, Florida is the first major city in the state when you drive from Savannah, Georgia like we did. I am a Brazilian journalist living in the United States. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

. We will show the surrounding areas of JAX, the coastal areas of JAX Bch, Neptune Beach, Fernandina Beach, as will as the downtown areas of Riverside, Brooklyn, the South Bank. It will show the evidence, that Jacksonville is growing, maybe not as quick as Tampa or Miami, but some very good things happening.

We start at I-95 at the north end of the I-295 Beltway and travel into downtown Jacksonville for a tour, then continue on I-95 to the south end of the I-295 Beltway. At some point in the future we will do a full feature on Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.
We titled this video "City in Waiting". After demolishing Jacksonville Landing, Jacksonville is alittle quiet. They have had a couple of developments fall through. After doing Tampa who is well into developing their waterfront areas, you feel alittle bit for the city of Jacksonville, there is certainly alittle bit of disappointment. I do believe however, good things are in the future for this growing southeastern city. Jaguars owner Shadid Khan, I believe will provide that spark to re-energize downtown. They are expected to begin construction in 2021 of a development along the waterfront that will connect the urban core to the sports and entertainment complex. I was alittle shocked that all they have planned for the site of the former Jacksonville landing is a urban park. However the downtown area has too much potentional with the St Johns River and I believe although maybe 5 or more years behind Tampa, it will soon become a popular tourist destination.

During my first morning in Jacksonville, Florida in partnership with Visit Jacksonville I headed out on an all out food tour of the First Coast (Jacksonville's nickname). I ate at three incredible restaurants!

Jacksonville is located in North Eastern Florida near the Georgian border. I took a short 50 minute flight from Miami and hit the grown running to try their amazing food.
I visited three restaurant on this food tour. First was visited Maple Street Biscuit Company and I tried their Five and Dime. It's a biscuit with egg, chicken, cheese, bacon and gravy. Out of this world!
Next I walked a few doors down to Taverna San Marco, a restaurant that focuses on Italian and Mediterranean food. Here I had a beer and tried their delicious quail.
Lastly I headed to Moxie Kitchen and Cocktails. I had a flight of some amazing local craft beers and then tried 3 amazing dishes, Scallops, Short Rib and Chicken and Waffles. They were all incredible!
Next time you head to Jacksonville you have to visit all three of these restaurants.

Jacksonville, Florida (USA) is the largest city in the contiguous USA. And yet, it has the fame that there are not many things to do here. Let me show you how people are wrong.
We start the day downtown Jacksonville, and despite the rainy weather, we get to see several murals, the famous Florida Theater, and the riverside. We then go visit Avondale, a really nice neighborhood. In the afternoon we start heading towards the beach. After a quick stop at Fort Caroline, we end up at Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach.
Jacksonville, Florida is the first major city in the state when you drive from Savannah, Georgia like we did.

. We will show the surrounding areas of JAX, the coastal areas of JAX Bch, Neptune Beach, Fernandina Beach, as will as the downtown areas of Riverside, Brooklyn, the South Bank. It will show the evidence, that Jacksonville is growing, maybe not as quick as Tampa or Miami, but some very good things happening.

We start at I-95 at the north end of the I-295 Beltway and travel into downtown Jacksonville for a tour, then continue on I-95 to the south end of the I-295 Beltway. At some point in the future we will do a full feature on Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.
We titled this video "City in Waiting". After demolishing Jacksonville Landing, Jacksonville is alittle quiet. They have had a couple of developments fall through. After doing Tampa who is well into developing their waterfront areas, you feel alittle bit for the city of Jacksonville, there is certainly alittle bit of disappointment. I do believe however, good things are in the future for this growing southeastern city. Jaguars owner Shadid Khan, I believe will provide that spark to re-energize downtown. They are expected to begin construction in 2021 of a development along the waterfront that will connect the urban core to the sports and entertainment complex. I was alittle shocked that all they have planned for the site of the former Jacksonville landing is a urban park. However the downtown area has too much potentional with the St Johns River and I believe although maybe 5 or more years behind Tampa, it will soon become a popular tourist destination.

During my first morning in Jacksonville, Florida in partnership with Visit Jacksonville I headed out on an all out food tour of the First Coast (Jacksonville's nickname). I ate at three incredible restaurants!

Jacksonville is located in North Eastern Florida near the Georgian border. I took a short 50 minute flight from Miami and hit the grown running to try their amazing food.
I visited three restaurant on this food tour. First was visited Maple Street Biscuit Company and I tried their Five and Dime. It's a biscuit with egg, chicken, cheese, bacon and gravy. Out of this world!
Next I walked a few doors down to Taverna San Marco, a restaurant that focuses on Italian and Mediterranean food. Here I had a beer and tried their delicious quail.
Lastly I headed to Moxie Kitchen and Cocktails. I had a flight of some amazing local craft beers and then tried 3 amazing dishes, Scallops, Short Rib and Chicken and Waffles. They were all incredible!
Next time you head to Jacksonville you have to visit all three of these restaurants.

Jacksonville, Florida
Jacksonville is the largest city by population in the U.S. state of Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. It is the county seat of Duval County, with which the city government consolidated in 1968. Consolidation gave Jacksonville its great size and placed most of its metropolitan population within the city limits; with an estimated population of 853,382 in 2014, it is the most populous city proper in Florida and the Southeast, and the 12th most populous in the United States. Jacksonville is the principal city in the Jacksonville metropolitan area, with a population of 1,345,596 in 2010.
Jacksonville is in the First Coast region of northeast Florida and is centered on the banks of the St. Johns River, about 25 miles (40 km) south of the Georgia state line and about 340 miles (550 km) north of Miami. The Jacksonville Beaches communities are along the adjacent Atlantic coast. The area was originally inhabited by the Timucua people, and in 1564 was the site of the French colony of Fort Caroline, one of the earliest European settlements in what is now the continental United States. Under British rule, settlement grew at the narrow point in the river where cattle crossed, known as Wacca Pilatka to the Seminole and the Cow Ford to the British. A platted town was established there in 1822, a year after the United States gained Florida from Spain; it was named after Andrew Jackson, the first military governor of the Florida Territory and seventh President of the United States.
