Our four-stage whole house water filter system ensures every drop throughout your home is free from chlorine, rust, dirt, bad taste, and odor. You will experience improved water quality with Mrs. Water’s filtered water available in your kitchen for cooking, drinking, and washing dishes, as well as in your bathroom for bathing and laundry room for washing clothes. The filter system helps extend the lifespan and effectiveness of water-using appliances like water heaters (which are particularly susceptible to hard water damage, as minerals in the water settle at the tank bottom, forming sediment layers that decrease efficiency), dishwashers, washing machines, washers in faucets and showerheads, as well as internal parts of your commode by reducing grime and sediment buildup.
Hard Water
Hard water, characterized by a higher mineral and sediment content, originates from rainwater absorbing residual minerals as it percolates through heavy limestone (Calcium Carbonate). Hard water is extremely common in Houston due to the way the city obtains its water. Houston takes runoff rainwater from lakes, such as Lake Conroe, Lake Houston, and Lake Livingston. The water is then funneled to one of the city’s local treatment plants. The mineral particles present in hard water, which are like microscopic rocks, pose significant challenges and risk of damage to plumbing systems. Initially, they manifest as a film often mistaken for soap scum but is mineral residue. The city of Houston uses chloramines (commonly formed when ammonia is added to chlorine to treat drinking water) to disinfect the water at a rate of 4.9 ppm, .9 ppm over the maximum allotment for the EPA.
As the chloramines work to dispose of harmful bacteria, it will strip away natural oils from the skin and hair causing excess drying. Chloramine water interacts with beneficial chemicals in skin and hair care products, decreasing their absorption and effectiveness of active ingredients of these expensive products. Mrs. Water’s filtered and descaled water will minimize the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions. Finally, it provides a hydrating and refreshing effect, leaving the skin feeling soft and supple.
No Metals
Houston has an aging water infrastructure that is in the process of gradually being replaced, but for the time being your tap water runs through these ancient pipes. Whatever is in the pipes is going directly into your cup. Pipes won't stay clean, and buildup is common for homeowners and the city. Our systems ensure your drinking and bathing water is pure. Houston has many plumbing issues, we have all seen burst pipes, is that for drinking water or is that waste? Is all that dirt entering into our drinking water?
