Patrick Raymond Leonard (born 1956) is an American songwriter, keyboardist and music producer of French-Canadian descent. He gained his entry into the music business with late 1970s Chicago-based pomp rock band Trillion, which also featured future Toto singer Dennis "Fergie" Frederiksen on lead vocals. He is best known for his longtime collaboration with Madonna on many different projects including her albums True Blue (1986), Who's That Girl (1987), Like a Prayer (1989), I'm Breathless (1990) and Ray of Light (1998). He also music scored her 2008 documentary I Am Because We Are and was musical director on her tours, The Virgin Tour (1985) and Who's That Girl World Tour (1987).
Leonard has worked with a wide variety of artists, including late-period Pink Floyd and solo Roger Waters and David Gilmour, as well as Boz Scaggs, Ilse DeLange, Deborah Blando, Peter Cetera, Bryan Ferry, Michael W. Smith, Julian Lennon, Elton John, Anna Vissi, Jody Watley, Rod Stewart, Leonard Cohen, Bryan Adams, Jewel, Blue October, Robbie Robertson, and up and coming artist Rachel Loy. He also was half of the art-pop group Toy Matinee with Kevin Gilbert and Third Matinee with Richard Page. In 1997, Leonard released the new-age album Rivers on his own record label, Unitone. Leonard has three children: a daughter named Jessica (for whom Madonna's song "Dear Jessie" was written), and two sons, Sean, who plays keyboards, and Jordan, who plays bass.
Patrick Leonard (1877 – after 1899) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a forward, primarily at outside left.
Leonard began his football career with St. Mirren in his native Scotland before moving to England, where he joined Manchester City. He made 16 appearances during the 1897–98 season in the league and FA Cup, and then headed south again. He played for Southern League clubs New Brompton and then Thames Ironworks, for whom he scored eight goals from 10 games. In his first game, a friendly against Upton Park, Leonard scored a hat-trick. His first league goals for The Ironworks came on 21 January 1899 in an away game at Wolverton LNWR in what was their 13th game of a 22-game season. With Wolverton fellow contenders for promotion, 200 spectators saw Leonard score twice in a 4–3 victory.
His final goal and game was on 22 April 1899 in a 1898–99 Southern League Second Division decider against Cowes, to determine the overall winners. The game was played at a neutral venue, on a pitch behind The Lord Nelson pub on East Ferry Road, home of Millwall Athletic. This was despite the ground being only three miles from Memorial Grounds, home of Thames Ironworks and considerably further from Cowes' home ground on the Isle of Wight, a decision which had infuriated Cowes management. Leonard scored the third goal in a 3–1 victory after earlier goals for Thames Ironworks by David Lloyd and Henderson.
Patrick Leonard was an Irish politician, businessman and landowner. He owned three farms near Dublin and was involved in moving cattle between the west of Ireland and Dublin. In 1915 he was elected President of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Leonard was an early pioneer of the car in Ireland. He suffered a serious accident in 1910 when he was injured by an explosion in an acetylene torch which he was using at his home. He was also injured in another accident at home while using explosives to remove a tree trunk in the grounds of his house. During the Easter Rising of 1916, Leonard, travelling with his son Mark, was told to stop at a road-block by rebels. He refused to do so and was shot at, leading to his son's arm being injured.
After independence, Leonard was elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North constituency at the Dublin North by-election on 11 March 1925 caused by the resignation of Francis Cahill of Cumann na nGaedheal. He lost his seat at the June 1927 general election but was re-elected at the September 1927 general election. He lost his seat again at the 1932 general election.
