Co-founder of R&B; vocal group The Impressions in the late 1950's. He left The Impressions in 1970 to embark on a solo career and founded his record label Curtom.
Mayfield is truly one of the greats, a pioneer in funk and socially aware R&B.; He received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.
Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 (Performer).

Mayfield, Edmonton
Mayfield is a neighbourhood in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada named for famed Canadian aviator and bush pilot Wop May.
It is bordered on the north by 111 Avenue, the east by 156 Street, to the south by 107 Avenue, and on the west by Mayfield Road.
Demographics
In the City of Edmonton's 2012 municipal census, Mayfield had a population of 7003196800000000000♠1,968 living in 7002910000000000000♠910 dwellings, a 1.4% change from its 2009 population of 7003194100000000000♠1,941. With a land area of 0.87 km2 (0.34 sq mi), it had a population density of 7003226210000000000♠2,262.1 people/km2 in 2012.
Residential development
While there were some homes in the area prior to 1946, the bulk of residential construction occurred after the end of World War II with seven out of ten (71%) residences being built between 1946 and 1960. Most of the remaining three in ten were built during the 1960s, with a small number built during the 1970s. Most dwellings in the neighbourhood are single-family dwellings, though there are some duplexes,row houses and a few low rise apartment buildings.

Mayfield, Pennsylvania
Mayfield is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States, about 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Scranton. In the past, it contained a silk mill and a coal mining industry. The population was 1,807 at the 2010 census.
Geography
Mayfield is located at 41°32′18″N 75°32′12″W / 41.53833°N 75.53667°W / 41.53833; -75.53667 (41.538331, -75.536554).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.2 km2), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,756 people, 744 households, and 503 families residing in the borough. The population density was 718.6 people per square mile (277.9/km²). There were 795 housing units at an average density of 325.3 per square mile (125.8/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 99.43% White, 0.06% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.40% of the population.

Plot: Chicago police detective Frank Hooks, played by Fred Williamson, busts a drug dealer named Goldie. Goldie gets out on bail, then Frank gets a tip that a $100 million deal is going down. Frank and his partners (ably played by John Saxon and Richard Roundtree) stake the deal out, and break it up, but Goldie escapes with the money. After chasing the criminal on foot, Frank shoots Goldie dead. None of the police can locate the money. Goldie's boss Mayfield suspects that Frank has stolen the money for himself. Meanwhile, Frank is suspended from the police force pending an internal affairs investigation. Mayfield sends two gangsters to find out who snitched about the drug deal, and to which cop. Their informant names Frank Hooks. After Mayfield threatens Frank and his nightclub singer girlfriend (played by Nancy Wilson), the girlfriend's cat turns up dead. The criminals demand the return of their money, and stipulate a time and place for its return. After Frank rounds up some help in the form of a barely willing ex-con explosives expert, he meets the gangsters for a chance to settle the score with Mayfield.

Co-founder of R&B; vocal group The Impressions in the late 1950's. He left The Impressions in 1970 to embark on a solo career and founded his record label Curtom.
Mayfield is truly one of the greats, a pioneer in funk and socially aware R&B.; He received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.
