At least that's what Jay and Atom tell each other as they toil away through rain and sleet and dark of night, all the while falling short of their own dreams and desires. Does the future hold a New York Times Bestseller for Jay? Some slutty groupies waiting backstage at Madison Square Garden for Atom? Anything is possible, but until then, they must serve the elitist upper crust who pass judgement, and look down their noses at them simply because they wear the noblest uniform of all. How Small Is An Atom? Spoiler: Very Small.
Atoms are very weird. Wrapping your head around exactly how weird, is close to impossible – how can you describe something that is SO removed from humans experience? But then again, they kind of make up everything, so let us try anyways.

Atom: The Illusion Of Reality (Jim Al-Khalili) | Science Documentary | Reel Truth Science
The final part of Professor Jim Al-Khalili's documentary series about the basic building block of our universe, the atom.
Al-Khalili explores how studying the atom forced us to rethink the nature of reality itself, encountering ideas that seem like they are from science fiction but in fact are a central part of modern science. He discovers that there might be parallel universes in which different versions of us exist and finds out that empty space is not empty at all, but seething with activity.
The world we think we know - the solid, reassuring world of our senses - turns out to be a tiny sliver of an infinitely weirder and more wonderful universe than we had ever conceived in our wildest fantasies.
The story of the discovery that everything is made from atoms, one of the greatest scie...

Atom: Clash of Titans (Jim Al-Khalili) | Science Documentary | Reel Truth Science
The first of three programmes in which nuclear physicist Professor Jim Al-Khalili tells the story of the greatest scientific discovery ever - that everything is made of atoms.
As scientists delved deep into the atom, into the very heart of matter, they unravelled nature's most shocking secrets. They had to abandon everything they believed in and create a whole new science, which today underpins the whole of physics, chemistry, biology and maybe even life itself.
The series tells a story of geniuses like Albert Einstein and Werner Heisenberg who were driven by their thirst for knowledge and glory. It is a story of false starts and conflicts, ambition and revelation, a story which leads us through some of the most exciting and exhilarating ideas ever conceived by the human race.

What is an atom | Matter | Physics | FuseSchool
Atoms are tiny particles that are so small they are not possible to see with the naked eye, and are only barely possible to make out with the most powerful microscopes. Everything that exists in our universe is made up of atoms – including you, I and the device you’re watching this on! In fact, there are about 7 billion billion billion atoms in your body alone.
In this video we are going to look at what atoms are made of, and the mass and size of atoms, and the arrangement of electrons in an atom.Atoms may be tiny particles themselves but they are made of even smaller particles, called subatomic particles.
Atoms consist of a central nucleus that contains protons and neutrons. Protons are positively charged (+1) and neutrons have no charge...

Note about the Nitrogen atom Image:
The nitrogen paper was supposed to be published along with this animation but the journal decided the nitrogen paper was too redundant. They already published the same imaging technique with an Ag atom back in 2017. Long stroy short: The only place to see the nitrogen atom is in this animation. That said, if you want to see an Ag atom imaged using the same technique, see this paper here: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsnano.7b06022
Each pixel in the image represents a reading from the scanning probe. The colors show us how high that particular part of the atom's electron cloud is compared to the substrate it's sitting on. Red is highest, blue is lowest. We are only seeing the outline of the electron cloud, not the nucleus.

Correction: In this video I state that Jabir ibn Hayyan was Arabian, but there is uncertainty about this among historians. He may have been Persian. Like many influential people of his time, his story is almost mythical, with multiple origins being found in historical writings.
Also, he never used a Bunsen burner (which is what I drew him using) that wasn't invented until 1856. Jabir likely burnt wood or other solid fuels to heat his reactions.

The story of the discovery that everything is made from atoms, one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs in history, and the brilliant minds behind it.

👨🏫Cosmos Recap👨🏫
Cosmos was founded by Ivy League computer scientist Jae Kwon in early 2014. Cosmos was built by All In Bits Inc., a for profit software company which Jae also founded in 2014
Cosmos’ development is overseen by the Interchain Foundation, a Swiss non-profit which commissions and coordinates the more than 2 dozen companies building on Cosmos, including All In Bits Inc
Cosmos based blockchains all use the Tendermint consensus mechanism developed by Jae Kwon. Tendermint is actually one of the most secure proof of stake consensus mechanisms in cryptocurrency
Cosmos’s ATOM coin has historically lagged behind the other cryptocurrency coins in its ecosystem, and this is primarily because the Cosmos team was focused on finishing the IBC
📰Cosmos Updates📰
After months of testing, Cosmos finally launched its decentralized exchange dubbed Gravity in July. Like Uniswap, Gravity is an automated market maker or AMM DEX
Another thing Cosmos did in July was integrate with Band Protocol, the second largest oracle in cryptocurrency. In case you didn’t know, the Band Protocol blockchain was built using the Cosmos SDK
This gives Band Protocol similar interoperability features to Cosmos in the context of data, and cross-chain data is absolutely crucial for building robust cross-chain dApps
In August, another company building on Cosmos called Althea revealed the Gravity Bridge, a stand-alone Cosmos blockchain that will make it possible to transfer tokens between the Cosmos hub and Ethereum
📊ATOM Price Analysis📊
All these bullish developments have sent ATOM on a mission to the moon, and it recently surpassed its previous all-time high
This is partially due to the release of Emeris DEX but seems to be mostly due to another Cosmos based DEX called Osmosis
Cosmos is a cryptocurrency I would personally place among the top 10, and if it manages to make that list on the leaderboards it means a 150$ ATOM at the very least
📅Cosmos Roadmap📅
Cosmos will soon be rolling out its interchain staking feature. This will make it possible for Cosmos validators to secure more than one blockchain. By the end of the year Bitcoin will be on Cosmos
Most of Cosmos’ game changing features are scheduled for launch sometime in early 2022. These are NFTs, tokenization, and staking derivatives
🕵️♂️Cosmos Concerns🕵️♂️
When I was watching interviews with some of Cosmos’ core developers, a few of them mentioned that there have been tensions between the different teams working on Cosmos
To my understanding, this is because each company working on Cosmos has a slightly different perspective of the project and what it should look like in the future, and I reckon that’s to be expected
Besides these issues on the developer side, Cosmos’ growth is being stunted by another factor, and that’s the project’s insane commitment to the core values of cryptocurrency
As explained by one of Cosmos’ core devs, they’ve put next to zero effort into getting ATOM listed on exchanges. Osmosis founder Sunny Aggarwal also pushed back against OSMO listings on CEXes

The series tells a story of geniuses like
Albert Einstein and Werner Heisenberg who were driven by their thirst for knowledge and glory.

Protons are positively charged (+1) and neutrons have no charge. This makes the nucleus overall positively charged.
Much like how the sun has planets orbiting it, the nucleus has electrons orbiting. Electrons have a negative charge (-1). Because electrons are negatively charged and the nucleus is positively charged, they are electrostatically attracted to each other, like how gravity ensures attraction between planets and the sun.
So that’s the general structure of an atom, what about its mass and size? Protons and neutrons have the same mass, but electrons are so small they weigh almost nothing in comparison to protons and neutrons. In fact they are about 2000 times lighter. As a result, the mass of an atom is concentrated at its nucleus.
So that’s the mass of an atom, but what about it’s size? One way to describe the size of an atom is its radius. The radius of an atoms is the distance from its centre, where the nucleus is, to the outermost shell of electrons. The radius of an atom is typically 10-10m.
So the majority of the mass of an atom is contained in its nucleus, but in terms of size the nucleus is much smaller than the atom as a whole. In fact, electrons can orbit really far away from the nucleus. If the atom was the size of a sports arena, the nucleus could be the size of a pea in the middle!
Let’s finish off by looking at the electrons in a little more detail.
Negatively charged electrons orbit around the positive nucleus in specific orbits or shells. Different atoms have different numbers of shells (or orbitals).
Each shell is of a specific energy level, meaning an electron must possess a certain amount of energy to reside in a certain shell. Electrons in shells closest to the nucleus have the least energy, and electrons in the outermost shells have the highest energy levels.
In other words, electrons orbit the nucleus similar to how planets orbit the sun; however, electrons can only orbit at specific distances and with specific energies.
We will look at the differences in structure of atoms of different elements and the periodic table in this video
So there we have the structure of an atom. Atoms have a positively charged nucleus made up on positive protons and neutral neutrons, which is orbited by negatively charged electrons. The majority of the mass of an atom [10-23g] is found in the nucleus, and the typical size of atoms is 10-10m.

👨🏫Cosmos Recap👨🏫
At the conceptual level you can think of the Cosmos network as being a collection of cryptocurrency blockchains.
Instead of using dozens of bridges to connect all of these blockchains together, the Cosmos network uses ‘hubs’.
Cosmos hubs are basically Cosmos blockchains that act as a single point which thousands of blockchains can connect to for interoperability with other connected chains.
💱Cosmos IBC Explained💱
The recent release of the IBC is believed to be one of the most significant milestones for the cryptocurrency space.
This is because Tendermint based blockchains aren’t the only ones that have become interoperable.
According to Tendermint Inc.’s CEO Peng Zhong, any proof of stake cryptocurrency blockchain can theoretically connect to the IBC.
Proof of stake cryptocurrency blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum can also connect to the IBC using Peg Zones which track the state of their blockchains.
📰Cosmos Updates📰
In September last year, Coinbase added ATOM staking to its exchange. In October, Coindesk reported that Cosmos was gaining popularity in India.
In January this year, it was discovered that Grayscale had filed a for a Cosmos trust. In February, Cosmos became the first public blockchain to integrate with China’s Blockchain Service network.
On the same day Cosmos’ IBC protocol went live, Tendermint Inc. announced that they would be allocating 20 million dollars to fund projects building on Cosmos.
📊ATOM Price Analysis📊
ATOM has seen a 5x move since the start of the year. This isn’t bad, but it’s nowhere near the growth that almost every other altcoin has seen during the same period.
ATOM has basically been trading sideways since late February, and the price pattern we’ve seen since then suggests that we might be on the verge of a breakout (which began while shooting the video).
🕵️♂Why Cosmos Has Struggled 🕵️♂
However, the tools that these teams built along the way such as the Tendermint consensus module and the Cosmos SDK were essentially created at the expense of the Cosmos blockchain itself.
Not only are these tools free to use, but the teams behind Cosmos also offered free support to any project looking to leverage them.
This is in stark contrast to just about every other cryptocurrency project which would have demanded that developers pay for these products using their native coin.
As a result, the emergence and growth of Cosmos based blockchains like Binance, Terra, and Crypto.com have had no impact on the price of ATOM.
📅Upcoming Cosmos Developments📅
The Gravity DEX is just one of many upcoming features that the Tendermint Inc. team hopes will add value to Cosmos and increase utility and demand for ATOM.
Another product in the works is the Gravity Bridge, which will add a Peg Zone to the Cosmos hub so that tokens can be transferred between Ethereum and the Cosmos blockchain.
By the end of 2021, Tendermint Inc. hopes to have its Interchain Staking service set up, which will make it possible for Cosmos validators to secure multiple auxiliary blockchains on a pay as you go basis.
The milestone that caught my eye the most is the introduction of staking derivatives to Cosmos in 2022, which will feature ATOM burning for any slashed collateral.
