Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez baptised June 6, 1599 -- August 6, 1660) was a Spanish painter who was the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV and one of the most important painters of the Spanish Golden Age. He was an individualistic artist of the contemporary Baroque period, important as a portrait artist. In addition to numerous renditions of scenes of historical and cultural significance, he painted scores of portraits of the Spanish royal family, other notable European figures, and commoners, culminating in the production of his masterpiece Las Meninas (1656).

Diego Velazquez: A collection of 133 paintings (HD)
Description: His complex artworks with realistic subjects, infusing life onto the canvas, made him one of the most admired painters in Europe during the 17th century, or rather the Spanish Golden Age. Not only did he possess a god-gifted talent to capture life into paintings, but he was also capable of giving them a true feel. Diego Velazquez was, undoubtedly, the most significant Spanish painter who popularized Western art in his own naturalistic style, playing with brushstrokes and color palettes. His stunning paintings were typically a blend of both bright and dull color schemes, especially blacks, greys, reds and blue-greens. The royal Venetian paintings, belonging to the 16th century, played a major role in drawing him towards visual impressions, evident from the numerous masterpieces he created during his entire life. What added to his popularity of using unique techniques and different styles in painting portraits was his employment as a leading artist in the royal court of King Philip IV, who refused to get his portrait painted by no one else except Velazquez. His paintings mostly depicted religious themes and cultural subjects, though he composed innumerable portraits that talked of the members of the Spanish royal family, significant European figures, as well as the common man.

Description: His complex artworks with realistic subjects, infusing life onto the canvas, made him one of the most admired painters in Europe during the 17th century, or rather the Spanish Golden Age. Not only did he possess a god-gifted talent to capture life into paintings, but he was also capable of giving them a true feel. Diego Velazquez was, undoubtedly, the most significant Spanish painter who popularized Western art in his own naturalistic style, playing with brushstrokes and color palettes. His stunning paintings were typically a blend of both bright and dull color schemes, especially blacks, greys, reds and blue-greens. The royal Venetian paintings, belonging to the 16th century, played a major role in drawing him towards visual impressions, evident from the numerous masterpieces he created during his entire life. What added to his popularity of using unique techniques and different styles in painting portraits was his employment as a leading artist in the royal court of King Philip IV, who refused to get his portrait painted by no one else except Velazquez. His paintings mostly depicted religious themes and cultural subjects, though he composed innumerable portraits that talked of the members of the Spanish royal family, significant European figures, as well as the common man.

El narrador es un joven de veinte años, Marco, estudiante de cine. Su voz y sus impresiones de la obra de Velázquez constituyen el eje central, que no se centran en la película camino demasiado lineal a través de la obra del maestro español del siglo XVII. Diego Velázquez (1599 - 1660) nació y se crió en una pequeña casa en el centro de Sevilla, Andalucía. Asistió a las bodegas, observó la vida popular, que se convierte en el objeto de sus primeras pinturas conocidas; Género escenas influido por el realismo de El Viejo y Caravaggio. La paleta de Velázquez a continuación, es oscuro. Presentado a la corte de Madrid por el Conde Duque de Olivares, el todopoderoso ministro de Felipe IV, Velázquez fue nombrado pintor del rey en 1623. Description: His complex artworks with realistic subjects, infusing life onto the canvas, made him one of the most admired painters in Europe during the 17th century, or rather the Spanish Golden Age. Not only did he possess a god-gifted talent to capture life into paintings, but he was also capable of giving them a true feel. Diego Velazquez was, undoubtedly, the most significant Spanish painter who popularized Western art in his own naturalistic style, playing with brushstrokes and color palettes. His stunning paintings were typically a blend of both bright and dull color schemes, especially blacks, greys, reds and blue-greens. The royal Venetian paintings, belonging to the 16th century, played a major role in drawing him towards visual impressions, evident from the numerous masterpieces he created during his entire life. What added to his popularity of using unique techniques and different styles in painting portraits was his employment as a leading artist in the royal court of King Philip IV, who refused to get his portrait painted by no one else except Velazquez. His paintings mostly depicted religious themes and cultural subjects, though he composed innumerable portraits that talked of the members of the Spanish royal family, significant European figures, as well as the common man.
