2012 National Finals Rodeo

The 2012 National Finals Rodeo were held from December 6–15, 2012 in Paradise, Nevada with the exception of steer roping which was held in Guthrie, Oklahoma from November 2–3, 2012. All events are sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association with the exception of barrel racing which is sanctioned by the Women's Professional Rodeo Association.

National Finals Rodeo

The National Finals Rodeo, organized by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), is the premier championship rodeo event in the United States. Wrangler Jeans is the title sponsor for the 10-day event, commonly just called the National Finals or NFR, which is also sometimes referred to as the World Series of Rodeo and the Super Bowl of Rodeo. The NFR showcases the talents of the PRCA's top 15 money-winners in each event as they compete for the world title.

The NFR is held each year in the first full week of December, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. (UNLV) and is aired live on CBS Sports Network. Cowboy Christmas, a cowboy gift show, is held concurrent with the rodeo at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Since the rodeo uses 'special dirt', the dirt is stored on the UNLV campus for use in the next NFR.

Events

The NFR is the final rodeo event of the PRCA season. World championship titles are awarded to the individuals who earn the most money in his or her event throughout the year:

National Finals Rodeo (Australia)

National Finals Rodeo is the title of numerous rodeo events held in Australia. The largest and oldest event is run by the Australian Professional Rodeo Association, held each year in January over 4 days at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland. The APRA event was first held in 1960 the first in Australian rodeo history.

Australian Bushmen's Capmdraft & Rodeo Association

ABCRA's event is held at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre in Tamworth, New South Wales during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

National Rodeo Association

NRA's event is held over three Saturdays in late November early December with events held at Ipswich, Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

National Rodeo Council of Australia

NRCA's event is held in November in Dalby, Queensland over two nights in conjunction with a 3-day Professional Colt Starting Challenge.
