HIDDEN ERROR: Usage of "Spouse" is not recognized
Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard; 3 November 1954) is an English singer and musician. He gained popularity as the lead singer of post-punk group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three No. 1s. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in over two dozen films and television episodes from 1985 to 2003.
Since 2010, Ant has undertaken an intensive reactivation of his musical career, performing live regularly in his hometown of London and beyond, recording and releasing a new album and with three full-length UK national tours, two US national tours and a short Australian tour all now completed.
Stuart Goddard was born an only child, in Marylebone, London. Concern for oppressed minorities—one of the themes he used in his later work—was part of his heritage; he is of partial Romani descent. His maternal grandfather, Walter Albany Smith, was Romanichal. Home was two rooms in De Walden buildings, St John's Wood. He recalls: "There was no luxury, but there was always food on the table." His father, Leslie Goddard, had served in the Royal Air Force and worked as a chauffeur and his mother, Betty Kathleen Smith, was an embroiderer for Norman Hartnell.
Adamant is a poetic term used to refer to any especially hard substance. It may also refer to:
Atom Ant is a cartoon ant and superhero, created by Hanna-Barbera in 1965. Atom costarred in The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show (sharing top billing with Secret Squirrel). In syndication, Atom Ant aired alongside Precious Pupp and The Hillbilly Bears.
Atom Ant (originally voiced by Howard Morris, then by Don Messick in later episodes) is a superhero ant who operated out of an anthill in the countryside, where he possessed such things as a mainframe computer and exercise equipment. His powers mostly consisted of the ability to fly, superspeed, incredible strength, and invulnerability. His catchphrase was "Up and at 'em, Atom Ant!" He was often contacted by the police, who sent him out on an assignment.
Some of these missions parodied the missions of Batman. The police force was constantly shown to be underfunded and inept, as they relied on Atom Ant to do all their police work. As seen in "Nobody's Fool," the only two police officers were the chief of police and deputy chief. The department only possessed one rusted patrol car. Atom Ant fights various villains including recurring ones like Ferocious Flea (voiced by Don Messick) and mad scientist Professor Von Gimmick.
Strip is the second solo album by Adam Ant, released in 1983. It marked a decline in Ant's success, as it only reached #65 in the US and #20 in the UK.
The lead single from the album was "Puss 'n Boots", which continued the pantomime themes and fashions of Ant's earlier work. The single reached #5 on the UK chart in 1983, becoming Ant's final UK top ten hit, although other top 20 hits would follow. The title track, "Strip" was released as a single in 1984 and reached #41 on the UK singles chart and #42 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The cover photograph was fashioned after actress Jane Russell's famous photo from Howard Hughes's 1943 film The Outlaw.
An extensive tour of the US was undertaken after the release. In Adam Ant's 2006 autobiography, he mentions that the promoters and tour managers were incentivized with higher pay if the album hit the Top 40 in the US. It got to #65.
Some performances of the tour can be found on YouTube. It was the biggest American tour of Ant's career, with dates in many cities, and was famous for the showmanship involved; this included a vine-covered bridge suspended above the audience, and a Houdini-style immersion tank, which Ant would jump in and emerge from wearing only black shorts - after "stripping" his stage costume off during the course of the show.
Adam is a common masculine given name.
The personal name Adam derives from the Hebrew noun ha adamah meaning "the ground" or "earth". It is still a Hebrew given name, and its Quranic and Biblical usage has ensured that it is also a common name in all countries which draw on these traditions. It is particularly common in Christian- and Muslim-majority countries. In most languages its spelling is the same, although the pronunciation varies somewhat. Adán is the Spanish form of this name.
Adam is also a surname in many countries, although it is not as common in English as its derivative Adams (sometimes spelled Addams). In other languages there are similar surnames derived from Adam, such as Adamo, Adamov, Adamowicz, Adamski etc.
In Arabic, Adam (آدم) means "made from the earth/mud/clay".
Roger Adam was a French aircraft designer and manufacturer who produced light aircraft in kit from 1948 to 1955. He established the firm Etablissements Aeronautiques R. Adam.
"Adam" is the fifth episode of the second series of British science fiction television series Torchwood, which was broadcast by BBC Two on 13 February 2008.
Torchwood encounter an alien, Adam, who has the ability of memory manipulation. By implanting false memories into each team member, making them believe they have known him for three years, Adam's manipulation changes the team dramatically: Gwen loses all memory of Rhys, Jack is haunted by memories of his lost brother Gray, from whom he was separated as a child on the Boeshane Peninsula, Toshiko has become more confident and believes that she and Adam are in love, and Owen has been manipulated into thinking he is more or less a geek in comparison to his actual self, and madly in love with Toshiko.
After reading his diary, Ianto becomes disturbed when he notices there is no mention of Adam. Adam confronts him and implants false memories into Ianto’s mind, leading Ianto to believe he is a serial killer. Jack returns to find Ianto deeply upset but refuses to believe that Ianto is a killer. The pair search Torchwood's files, discovering the truth after seeing footage of Adam implanting the memories into the team. Jack discovers that the team needs to take amnesia pills, to erase their memories of the past forty-eight hours. He gathers the team and asks each person to try to recall who they really are. Each member takes their pill, Owen looking at Tosh and giving a small smile.

Adam Ant talks about the creation of one of his videos
This interview was broadcast in the fall of 1983. It covered Adam's video, his guest VJ time and some other interesting facts. Martha Quin one of the original VJs conducted this very informal sit down. Her reaction at the end when Mr. Ant surprises here is priceless

Adam Ant is one of those artists who have changed my life. He is a visionary, innovative genius: a great artist! I still remember vividly when my father put his vinyls on. Even at that time I was a weirdo and I used to go around with my beloved Sony walkman and listen to this great album “STRIP” (and all the greatest albums of that era), while my friends were listening to the new music of the 90’s. STRIP is an album where I can’t skip any song. I remember when I played behind my first drum-kit “Baby, let me scream at you”, “Vanity”, “Playboy” and of course the 2 big singles produced by the Master PHIL COLLINS; it was pure joy and I learnt a lot! This album is like a book: if you skip a chapter you will not understand the book! So, thank you Mr Adam Ant for the art and the music that you ga...
