In this video I take a look at some photo editing Apps for Mac OS and Windows that you could consider as replacements for Adobe Photoshop.
I am a long term user of Photoshop and in fact the complete suite of Adobe Products in the Creative Cloud. Due to the recent pricing increases I thought I would take a look at whether there are any viable alternatives to Photoshop if I ever decide to end by subscription to the service.
While I can't say I found any application as Powerful as Photoshop, there were a few apps that had quite an impressive range of features.

The AI tools within this app make this an incredibly powerful photo editor and photo management system. You're able to get going so easily with just one tool. Seriously - ONE TOOL! The AI Enhance feature analyzes each photo individually and then makes intelligent decisions on improving exposure, dynamic range, contrast, colour and more. So for a newbie photographer just starting with photo editing, this is perfect.
Other software packages such as Adobe Photoshop have a lot of power too, but the learning curve is steep! I've been working with Photoshop from the mid 90's and I still don't know everything there is to know. Luminar allows users an easy entry point to get started processing their photos. I teach you how I edit my photos, but instead of using Lightroom, I use the classic Photos app that nearly everyone has. Obviously, the quality is going to be a lot better when you use Lightroom.

Microsoft Photo Editor is an image-editing application found in Microsoft Office 97–XP versions for Windows, classified as one of Microsoft Office Tools. It has been replaced by Microsoft Office Picture Manager, although many Photo Editor features are not available in Picture Manager.
The program was a tool for doing raster graphics with editing tools to texturize, negative, adjust gamma, make GIF transparency and many others. It was based on HALO Desktop Imager by Media Cybernetics, L.P.

Early versions of Microsoft Photo Editor, including the version bundled with Office 2000, erased metadata from digital camera JPEG images during saves. The Office 2000 version also, when saving BMP files, sets the resolution metadata to 0 by 0, regardless of what resolution (DPI) is set through the program UI.
Size Limit
Version 3.0.2.3 and earlier had a 10 MP (megapixel) image (resolution) size limit, but not image file size limit. Large Windows bitmap BMP files can be opened in Microsoft Photo Editor 3.0.2.3, as well as, e.g. a 4000 x 2578-pixel, 15-MB *.JPG image.

In this video I take a look at some photo editing Apps for Mac OS and Windows that you could consider as replacements for Adobe Photoshop.
I am a long term user of Photoshop and in fact the complete suite of Adobe Products in the Creative Cloud. Due to the recent pricing increases I thought I would take a look at whether there are any viable alternatives to Photoshop if I ever decide to end by subscription to the service.
While I can't say I found any application as Powerful as Photoshop, there were a few apps that had quite an impressive range of features.
So whether you are a photographer, digital creative or just looking to create the casual image for upload to your social media then check out my list of the top 5 alternatives to Photoshop.

The AI tools within this app make this an incredibly powerful photo editor and photo management system. You're able to get going so easily with just one tool. Seriously - ONE TOOL! The AI Enhance feature analyzes each photo individually and then makes intelligent decisions on improving exposure, dynamic range, contrast, colour and more. So for a newbie photographer just starting with photo editing, this is perfect.
Other software packages such as Adobe Photoshop have a lot of power too, but the learning curve is steep! I've been working with Photoshop from the mid 90's and I still don't know everything there is to know. Luminar allows users an easy entry point to get started processing their photos. Furthermore, it allows a lot of creativity that is accessible through its simple slider-based approach.
I start the video demonstrating the photo editing power of the simple to use AI tools. I then show how using a very simple photo editing workflow that uses just a small selection of simple tools you can dramatically improve your photos. Again, perfect for a beginner. I am a long term user of Photoshop and in fact the complete suite of Adobe Products in the Creative Cloud. Due to the recent pricing increases I thought I would take a look at whether there are any viable alternatives to Photoshop if I ever decide to end by subscription to the service.

The AI tools within this app make this an incredibly powerful photo editor and photo management system. You're able to get going so easily with just one tool. Seriously - ONE TOOL! The AI Enhance feature analyzes each photo individually and then makes intelligent decisions on improving exposure, dynamic range, contrast, colour and more. So for a newbie photographer just starting with photo editing, this is perfect.
Other software packages such as Adobe Photoshop have a lot of power too, but the learning curve is steep!
