Jane Marie Genevieve Wiedlin (born May 20, 1958) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and actress best known as the rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist of the all-female new wave band, The Go-Go's. Wiedlin has also had a solo career.
Jane Wiedlin was born in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee. Her father, Robert Wiedlin, Sr., an oral surgeon, was born in Chicago, Illinois, of German and German-Swiss ancestry. Her mother, Betty Jane (née Herro), was of Lebanese heritage, from Oconomowoc, where many immigrants from Lebanon settled around Milwaukee. Wiedlin's parents met while students at Marquette University and later, married. Jane spent her early childhood growing up in West Allis, another suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is one of five children, with a sister and three brothers, growing up in a Catholic family. When Wiedlin was six, her father took a job with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, at a VA Hospital in Los Angeles and her family followed in tow.
Jane Wiedlin is the debut album by Jane Wiedlin, released in 1985 on I.R.S. Records. It was her first solo album after leaving new wave group The Go-Go's. The track "My Traveling Heart" dealt with Wiedlin's feelings about the breakup of the band.
"Blue Kiss" was released as the lead single, reaching 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 30 on Hot Dance Club Play. The album itself reached 127 on the Billboard 200.
In Rolling Stone, Joyce Millman wrote: "Wiedlin's taste for the offbeat and her punchy pop know-how as well as the record's pinball-arcade bustle of guitars, synths and sound effects keep things fizzing. Wiedlin's thin, childlike voice is a problem, however; she doesn't have much range or lung power, and when she strains to shout, she detracts from otherwise first-rate songs. But Wiedlin has the savvy to know when and how to dish out a joke at her own expense".
Stewart Mason on allmusic states: "Aside from the unfortunately slick mid-'80s production, Jane Wiedlin's 1985 solo debut is probably the best solo album by any ex-member of the Go-Go's. The singles 'Modern Romance' and 'Blue Kiss' really should have been hits (they're certainly better than most of Belinda Carlisle's solo work), and the best of the album tracks trade the pertness of the Go-Go's for a slightly more mature, world-weary vibe".

Jane's solo electric performance at a benefit in West Hollywood, circa October or November in1995. The benefit was held at Out Of The Closet thrift store on Santa Monica Boulevard and there were other acts on the bill including Jill "I Kissed A Girl" Sobule, singer-songwriter Melissa Ferrick, and "Everywhere I Go I Hear The Go-Go's" artist Phranc. Charlotte Caffey was also in attendance but did not perform--I did see her write a check! I would say there were in the neighborhood of 60 people in attendance when Jane played--it was a come-and-go all-afternoon event but we only went to see Jane, naturally. We sat right in front, directly in front of Jane. We didn't know if she would be bothered that we were videotaping but she didn't seem to mind, and all these years later it's wonder...

Can you hear them
They talk about us
Telling lies
Well that's no surprise
Can you see them
See right through them
They have no shield
No secrets to reveal
It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Our lips are sealed
There's a weapon
We must use
In our defense
Silence
When you look at them
Look right through them
That's when they'll disappear
That's when we'll be feared
It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Our lips are sealed
Pay no mind to what they say
It doesn't matter anyway
Our lips are sealed
Hush, my darling
Don't you cry
Quiet, angel
Forget their lies
Can you hear them (can you hear them)
They talk about us
Telling lies
Well that's no surprise
Can you see them
See right through them
They have no shield
No secrets to reveal
It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Our lips are sealed
Pay no mind to what they say
It doesn't matter anyway
Our lips are sealed
