Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me *** Mel Carter
Lyrics***♥
Hold me, hold me
Never let me go
Until you've told me, told me
What I want to know
And then just hold me, hold me
Make me tell you I'm in love with you
(Hold me tight, never let me go)
Thrill me, thrill me
Walk me down the lane where shadows will be, will be
Hiding lovers just the same as we'll be, we'll be
When you make me tell you I love you
(Will you take me in your arms)
They told me, "Be sensible with your new love
Don't be fooled thinking this is the last you'll find"
But they never stood in the dark with you, love
When you take me in your arms
and drive me slowly out of my mind
Kiss me, kiss me, and when you do
I know that you will miss me, miss me
If we ever say adieu, so kiss me, kiss me
Make me tell you I'm in love with you....

On my studio website, LegacyVMP Studio (https://www.legacyvmp.com), I begin with this question:
“Can mastering studios working on legacy audio projects today benefit from vinyl-sourced audio?”
There may have been a time where you could debate that question but today, I don't think so, and I go into great detail on my website as to why. You can find out much more on this 'case-to-be-made' and the vision for my studio on my website.
But let's examine this a little here.

Mel Carter, "A Band of Gold".
Mel Carter was born 22 April 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his public singing career in Cincinnati thru his grandmother's instigation at the age of four. He performed with Lionel Hampton at the age of nine. Quincy Jones first discovered Mel and signed him to record for Mercury Records. Sam Cooke later signed him to record for the Derby Records label. That arrangement produced his first hit recording "When a Boy Falls in Love". That recording topped the charts in both England and the United States. His recording of "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" ensued, and led to an offer to tour with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars. His singing career peaked in the mid-1960s, while he recorded for the Imperial label.

A very definitive version in terms of sound is this "LP Mastered Sound" version that was engineered and crafted by the Lanky Linstrot in 1965. And as was often the case, some pretty profound analog sound signatures that I refer to on my website as analog 'intangibles' were introduced apart from the original master tape from whence it came during the post production phase. It was quite common during the post-production phase back then to have these intangibles purposefully, artfully and delicately crafted into the engineering and manufacturing processes during initial production which culminated into first edition pressings, many of which still exist today. And the vinyl medium used to house these sound waves found in the grooves is the perfect audio vehicle from which to translate all of this goodness to our ears to give us - The Ultimate Listening Experience.
New technologies have emerged that can now enable production of an alternative professional grade of audio that is good enough to, at a minimum, co-exist with our present processes for dealing with many of these same analog-to-digital conversions and/or reworks of our treasured legacy recordings. This video serves to draw attention then to the art of delicately and precisely capturing, transferring and then processing the analog audio known as the LP Mastered Sound and carefully transforming it into its digitally converted state to be re-purposed for a variety of needs in the post-production legacy audio industry.
It takes a professional studio with the right equipment and a legacy audio engineer with a trained ear to properly capture, translate and delicately process the analog sound from the groove and produce the resulting professional-grade digital conversion. I own such a studio and am eager to help bring "the sound that we once knew" to the forefront again. Visit the LegacyVMP Studio website (https://www.legacyvmp.com) today to find out more on how mastering studios and the legacy audio industry in general can benefit from my Digital HFE audio translations.

Mel Carter co-produced the 1985 album, "Willing," which earned him a Grammy nomination for "Best Male Gospel Performance". He received an NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Performance in a Musical that same year as a result of his starring role in "Glitter Palace". The 90's produced a series of successful tours that brought him engagements at Trump Castle, London's Royal Albert Hall, Taj Mahal and Merv Griffin's Resort Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.
His most popular recording was "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me". His list for successful recordings should also include "All of a Sudden My Heart Sings". Mel Carter recorded "A Band of Gold" once in 1965, and a second time in 1966. The second version reached number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached the number one position on the Easy Listening chart. It remained there for two weeks in May 1966.
His entertainment career included television acting performances on Quincy, Sanford and Son, Marcus Welby, MD, and Magnum P.I. He is considered a tenor, whose recordings are classified in the Pop Ballads/Easy Listening genre.
