Day6 (Hangul: 데이식스, stylized DAY6) is a South Korean rock band formed by JYP Entertainment. The group consists of six members: Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Junhyeok, Wonpil, and Dowoon. The group debuted with a mini album, The Day, on September 7, 2015.
In 2010, Young K was active under the name Brian Kang as part of a three-member group in Toronto, Canada. Along with members Terry He and Don Lee, he performed at several local stages and has several covers up on Terry He's channel. Along with Don Lee, Young K was contacted by JYP and then auditioned, and then accepted to be trainees. Don Lee later left JYP to pursue medical studies.
In 2012, Jae competed on the first season of SBS K-pop Star. Though he finished in sixth place in the competition overall, he later signed an exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment alongside the season's winner, Park Ji-min, and third-place finisher, Baek A-yeon.
JYP Entertainment initially announced the group as a five-member group called 5LIVE, composed of Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Junhyeok, and Wonpil. The group began promotions as 5LIVE in 2014, appearing on the 4th episode of Mnet's reality-survival program Who is Next: WIN and releasing a song titled "Lovely Girl" for the Pretty Man OST. However, the band came to dislike this name as many fans compared their name with that of American band Maroon 5.
The Day is a 1960 short film co-written and directed by Peter Finch. It is a fictionalized documentary on a young boy's life on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
A little Spanish boy (Antonion Costa) goes from his village with his donkey and cart to the city to bring the news of the birth of a child.
Although Finch was best known as an actor, he had worked as a writer and director before, notably on stage. He also helped make the documentary Primitive Peoples (1949).
The film won awards at the 1961 Venice Festival of Children's Films, and Cork Festival in Ireland. Finch had hopes to direct a feature film, an adaptation of Derek Monsey's World War II novel The Hero but could not get the finance.
The Day is a 2011 Canadian post-apocalyptic film directed by Douglas Aarniokoski. The film stars Ashley Bell, Shannyn Sossamon, Dominic Monaghan, Shawn Ashmore and Cory Hardrict. The film premiered on September 16, 2011 at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was released in 12 theaters in the United States on August 29, 2012. It screened theatrically for 16 days and grossed $20,984.
The Day follows a group of five survivors in a post-apocalyptic world as they travel through a bleak environment in an attempt to find food, shelter, and a safe place to stop running from tribes of savage cannibals that roam the country-side. They hope to plant several jars of seeds that they either stole or found during their journey. There was at some point twelve in their group, but it is not known how the others died or how long the remaining five have been on the run.
One of the survivors, Adam (Shawn Ashmore), who we see in flashbacks, left his wife and daughter alone in the car outside while he searched for supplies inside an empty house located in a ravaged suburban community. His wife and daughter were attacked and either captured or killed. The rest of the group are Rick (Dominic Monaghan), Shannon (Shannyn Sossamon), Henson (Cory Hardrict) and Mary (Ashley Bell).
Cyberforce is an Image Comics superhero team created by writer/artist Marc Silvestri in 1992.
Cyberforce is a comic book series created by Marc Silvestri. Initially written and illustrated by Silvestri, he later turned his duties over to other artists, including David Finch.
The comic was originally published in 1992-93 as a four-part mini-series through Homage Studios. After Silvestri founded Top Cow Productions, Cyberforce ran as a monthly series from 1994 to 1997. The first few issues crossed over with Wild C.A.T.s for the "Killer Instinct" storyline.
In 2007, the series was revived, written by Ron Marz and drawn by Alex Milne.
On October 17, 2012, Top Cow debuted the fourth volume of a rebooted Cyberforce as part of the company's "Top Cow Rebirth" initiative. Made possible through a Kickstarter campaign, the first five issues were released for free. Silvestri provided cyberpunk-influenced art for the rebooted series, while Khoi Pham was brought aboard as illustrator after five years of exclusive work for Marvel Comics. The first issue received a positive review from Benjamin Bailey of IGN, who described the post-apocalyptic setting as both interesting and genuine. Bailey commented that he enjoyed the story's structure but that the characters were not fully fleshed out. The book itself offered readers sufficient reason to anticipate a second issue, which Bailey hoped would focus more on character development. Commenting on Pham's art, he cited some inconsistencies, particularly with respect to renderings of technology.
In mechanics, an impact is a high force or shock applied over a short time period when two or more bodies collide. Such a force or acceleration usually has a greater effect than a lower force applied over a proportionally longer period. The effect depends critically on the relative velocity of the bodies to one another.
At normal speeds, during a perfectly inelastic collision, an object struck by a projectile will deform, and this deformation will absorb most or all of the force of the collision. Viewed from a conservation of energy perspective, the kinetic energy of the projectile is changed into heat and sound energy, as a result of the deformations and vibrations induced in the struck object. However, these deformations and vibrations cannot occur instantaneously. A high-velocity collision (an impact) does not provide sufficient time for these deformations and vibrations to occur. Thus, the struck material behaves as if it were more brittle than it would otherwise be, and the majority of the applied force goes into fracturing the material. Or, another way to look at it is that materials actually are more brittle on short time scales than on long time scales: this is related to time-temperature superposition. Impact resistance decreases with an increase in the modulus of elasticity, which means that stiffer materials will have less impact resistance. Resilient materials will have better impact resistance.
Impact is a realist sans-serif typeface designed by Geoffrey Lee in 1965 and released by the Stephenson Blake foundry of Sheffield. It is well known for having been included in the core fonts for the Web package and distributed with Microsoft Windows since Windows 98. More recently, it has been used extensively in image macros or internet memes.
Lee was an advertising design director and designed Impact with posters and publicity material in mind. Its thick strokes, compressed letterspacing, and minimal interior counterform are specifically aimed, as its name suggests, to "impact". Impact has a high x-height, reaching nearly to three-quarters the capital line. Ascenders are short, and descenders even shorter. With narrow apertures and folded-up letterforms, the lower-case can be quite hard to read printed small, especially for people with vision problems. The face is intended for headlines and display use rather than body text. As a display design, it was not released with an italic or bold weight.
MIX, often branded on-air as Today's Mix, was a channel on XM Satellite Radio playing the Hot Adult Contemporary format. It was located on XM 12 (previously 22) and plays a mix of hit songs from 1980-present day, except for urban music. MIX was one of 5 channels on XM's platform that plays commercial advertisements, which amount to about 3–4 minutes an hour, and are sold by Premiere Radio Networks. The channel was programmed by Clear Channel Communications, and was Clear Channel's most listened to channel on XM Radio, in both cume and AQH, according to the Fall 2007 Arbitron book.
Artists heard on MIX included Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Lenny Kravitz, Jewel and Nelly Furtado; and groups like Maroon 5 and Blues Traveler. One can also hear top chart hits including songs from Train, Alanis Morissette, 3 Doors Down, Evanescence, Dave Matthews Band, No Doubt, Santana, Matchbox Twenty, and U2.
On June 8, 2011, this was replaced by a simulcast by WHTZ, licensed to Newark, New Jersey and serving the New York City area.
