The Morning (2006) is a studio album from Andrew Osenga. It is his second solo full-length studio album, following the short EP Souvenirs and Postcards (2004).

Bahamas (musician)

Afie Jurvanen (born April 28, 1981), known by his stage name Bahamas, is a Canadian musician born in Toronto, and raised in Barrie, Ontario. Jurvanen is self-taught on guitar and has worked with such musicians as Feist, Howie Beck, Jason Collett, Jack Johnson, The Weather Station, and Zeus. Bahamas' songs are represented by Downtown Music Publishing.

Jurvanen recorded his debut album, Pink Strat, in a cabin in rural Ontario in 2008. It was released under the name Bahamas in 2009 and subsequently nominated for a 2010 Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year – Solo.

Bahamas' second album, Barchords, was released on February 7, 2012. At the 2013 Juno Awards, it was nominated for the Adult Alternative Album of the Year and Jurvanen was nominated for Songwriter of the Year for the tracks "Be My Witness", "Caught Me Thinking", and "Lost in the Light".

His third album, Bahamas Is Afie, was released on August 19, 2014. It was awarded first place on Q's Top 20 Albums of 2014. At the Juno Awards of 2015, Bahamas Is Afie was nominated for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, and Jurvanen was nominated for Songwriter of the Year for "All the Time", "Bitter Memories" and "Stronger Than That". He won the awards in both categories.

Bahamas is a German political magazine with a leading role in the Anti-Germans movement. Bahamas is published in Berlin with two or three issues per annum.

Background

Bahamas was founded in 1992 in Hamburg by the minority fraction of the dissolved Communist League (KB), named "group K". It emerged from the 1990s dispute within the KB about the position on the emerging unification of Germany. While KB's majority current merged with the Eastern German Communist Party renamed Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS), focussing on social opposition to the consequences of the expected restoration of capitalism, the KB minority expected a renewed German nationalism, the resurgence of racism, anti-Semitism and historical revisionism and new German power ambitions and therefore focussed on radically opposing the German unification.

Their pessimistic outlook led them to ironically suggesting "to emigrate to the Bahamas", in an argument to Knut Mellenthin, a prominent spokesman for the majority. "Bahamas" became the name of their main publication organ.

Till

Till or glacial till is unsorted glacial sediment.

Till is derived from the erosion and entrainment of material by the moving ice of a glacier. It is deposited some distance down-ice to form terminal, lateral, medial and ground moraines.

Till is classified into primary deposits, laid down directly by glaciers, and secondary deposits, reworked by fluvial transport and other processes.

Processes

Glacial drift is the coarsely graded and extremely heterogeneous sediment of a glacier; till is the part of glacial drift deposited directly by the glacier. Its content may vary from clays to mixtures of clay, sand, gravel, and boulders. This material is mostly derived from the subglacial erosion and entrainment by the moving ice of the glaciers of previously available unconsolidated sediments. Bedrock can also be eroded through the action of glacial plucking and abrasion and the resulting clasts of various sizes will be incorporated to the glacier's bed.

Eventually, the sedimentary assemblage forming this bed will be abandoned some distance down-ice from its various sources. This is the process of glacial till deposition. When this deposition occurs at the base of the moving ice of a glacier, the sediment is called lodgement till. Rarely, eroded unconsolidated sediments can be preserved in the till along with their original sedimentary structures. More commonly, these sediments lose their original structure through the mixture processes associated with subglacial transport and they solely contribute to form the more or less uniform matrix of the till.

ÖTILLÖ (Swedish for "Island to island") is a one-day swimrun race in the archipelago of Stockholm, Sweden. You compete in teams of two. The aim of the race is to get from Sandhamn to Utö, via 24 islands, by running across them and swimming between them. The total distance is 75 kilometres of which 10 km are open-water swimming and 65 km are trail-running. The first race was produced in 2006. The largest islands to run across are Runmarö, Nämdö and Ornö. In 2012 ÖTILLÖ was ranked as one of the toughest endurance challenges of the world by CNN.com. ÖTILLÖ is the first race and the origin to the growing movement of Swimrun. ÖTILLÖ is considered to be the World Championship of Swimrun even though it is not part of a federation.
