Namibia and The Small Scale Miners Of Neuschwaben
Do you know about the Small Scale Miners of western Namibia? Join Gondwana Collection Namibia and GIZ Namibia on their journey to unearth remarkable stories of Small Miners.
Namibia is known for its wealth of fine coloured gem stones. Join us as we discover the lives of the Small Scale Miners of Neu Schwaben.
The origins of our Namibian stones reach far back in time. Formed millions of years ago deep in the earth, they hold many stories. Could they speak, they would tell you of manifold climatic changes, mountains rising up from the Earth and folding, lava flowing and aeons of slow weathering by wind and rain and sun. They would also tell you about beauty.

Namibia's offshore miners take great risks in new venture
Offshore diamond mining is a relatively new science. The process has been refined by diamond producer Debmarine Namibia, which is a joint venture between DeBeers and the government of Namibia. Angelo Coppola spent some time on board one of their vessels 40 kilometers off the Namibian coast.

An abandoned diamond mining town in Namibia [S5 - Eps. 42]
In this episode, I am exploring the ghost town of Kolmanskoppe and learn a lot more about the diamond history here. It is absolutely mind-blowing to see and hear how things went down here a century ago, especially knowing how diamond mining is still going on today in Namibia and South Africa!

A hundred per cent Namibian, they have a pure Namibian soul. Adding to their authenticity, they are mined by local miners around the Brandberg, Erongo and Spitzkoppe area, Namibian men and women who work long hours under harsh conditions in the sweltering Namibian sun. For added value, they are cleaned and crafted into jewellery - in Namibia, by Namibians.
Purchasing these authentic Namibian ‘Mine Stones’ in pieces of jewellery supports both the small miners and the craftspeople, and their families. It ensures that all production takes place in Namibia rather than overseas, completing the value chain.
Mine Stones often remain uncut in their true form, allowing their natural beauty to be more strongly expressed - and appreciated.
The result is, of course, proudly Namibian.
