From its very first episode, Lost made no attempt to hide its fondness for perplexing mysteries. True to form, the series finale left audiences absolutely baffled. So if you want to know what really happened on that island, get ready for a deep dive into the ending of Lost.
For much of Lost's run, fans worried that the show would end with a "they were dead the whole time" twist. Creator J.J. Abrams and showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse repeatedly denied speculation that the characters died in the crash and that the island was a form of purgatory. Nevertheless, some viewers thought the finale's church-set ending confirmed that they had been lying the whole time, and that the entire show had taken place in the afterlife. This interpretation was also supported by the footage of the original plane crash and empty beaches that aired over the closing credits, which some fans thought meant there had been no survivors.
But it turns out that the crash footage at the end was never meant to be considered part of the finale proper. Instead, as an ABC spokesperson later explained, it was included so that fans could, quote, "decompress before heading into the news." The network never imagined that viewers would consider this part of the show's narrative. Furthermore, "The End" takes pains to explicitly clarify that all the events that took place on the island were, in fact, real.
After five seasons filled with flashbacks and then flash-forwards, the first episode of season six included something Lost fans were totally unprepared for: a flash-sideways, exploring an alternate reality in which Oceanic Flight 815 doesn't crash, instead landing safely at LAX. And that's not the only thing different about the two realities. Instead of being a con man, Sawyer is a cop. Instead of the strained marriage they had in the pilot, Jin and Sun are secret lovers. And the childless Jack suddenly has a teenage son whose mother is none other than Juliet, a woman he met on the island.

Lost was a one-of-a-kind show that aired on ABC back in 2004. It went on to become nothing short of a phenomenon and developed a passionate fanbase who enjoyed discussing and debating the show’s many mysteries. But what would happen if Lost was made today instead of in 2004? How different would the show look and would it even be the same?
Well today we’ve got an answer for that! At the Lost panel at the New York Comic Con, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse sat down for an interview to answer some fan questions and reflect on the legacy of the show. Amidst all the juicy behind-the-scenes details and funny anecdotes, the question was asked about what Lost would look like if it were made today, and the answer is definitely not what you expect! Given that television has changed so drastically in the last twenty years, you can expect Lost 2020 to be a very different show than the one you remember. Plus Damon and Carlton probably wouldn’t be involved!

One-hundred-twenty-one Lost episodes aired between September 22, 2004, and May 23, 2010. J. J. Abrams, who co-created the American serial drama television series Lost with Damon Lindelof, directed the pilot episode, which was based upon an original script titled Nowhere written by Jeffrey Lieber. Six seasons of the show aired, in addition to numerous clip shows to recap previous episodes. American Broadcasting Company (ABC), the producer of Lost, announced that the series would end after six seasons.
The series follows the experiences of the survivors of a plane crash on a passenger jet, Oceanic Flight 815, which crashed on a tropical island in the South Pacific, with each episode typically featuring action on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character's life. The series also includes stories of the lives of people already living on the island — they include the "Others", who initially antagonize the survivors, as well as a group of people who arrive on the freighter Kahana. Season six features a detailing of the lives of the survivors in a different reality, as if the flight had never crashed. Lost: Missing Pieces consists of thirteen original two- to three-minute clips referred to as "mobisodes" which were produced for cell phones and released between seasons three and four. Multiple former and recurring cast members made an appearance in the series finale.

Lost (season 3)
The third season of the American serial drama television series Lost commenced airing in the United States and Canada on October 4, 2006 and concluded on May 23, 2007. The third season continues the stories of a group of over 40 people who have been stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific, after their airplane crashed 68 days prior to the beginning of the season. In the Lost universe, the season takes place from November 28 to December 21, 2004. The producers have stated that as the first season is about introducing the survivors and the second season is about the hatch, the third season is about the Others, a group of mysterious island inhabitants.
In response to fan complaints about scheduling in the previous seasons, ABC decided to air the episodes without reruns, albeit in two separate blocks. In the United States, the first block consisted of six episodes aired on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm and after a twelve week break, the season continued with the remaining 16 episodes at 10:00 pm. In addition, three clip-shows recapped previous events on the show. "Lost: A Tale of Survival" aired a week before the season premiere, "Lost Survivor Guide" aired before the seventh episode and "Lost: The Answers" aired before the season finaleBuena Vista Home Entertainment released the season under the title Lost: The Complete Third Season – The Unexplored Experience on December 11, 2007 in Region 1 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

The first season of the television series Lost commenced airing in the United States and Canada on September 22, 2004, concluded on May 25, 2005, and contained 25 episodes. It introduces the 48 survivors of a plane that broke apart in mid-air, scattering them on a remote island somewhere in the South Pacific. Forced to work together to survive, they come to realize it is no ordinary island.
The first season aired Wednesdays at 8:00 pm in the United States. In addition to the 25 regular episodes, a special, "Lost: The Journey", was aired on April 27, 2005, between the 20th and 21st episodes of the season. The season was released on DVD as a seven disc boxed set under the title of Lost: The Complete First Season on September 6, 2005 by Buena Vista Home Entertainment.

The season was produced by Touchstone Television (now ABC Studios), Bad Robot Productions and Grass Skirt Productions and was aired on the ABC Network in the U.S. The executive producers were co-creator J. J. Abrams, co-creator Damon Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse with Jesse Alexander and Jeff Pinkner serving as executive consultants. The staff writers were Abrams, Lindelof, Cuse, Alexander, Pinkner, co-executive producer David Fury, supervising producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach, producer Leonard Dick, producers Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz, co-producer Jennifer M. Johnson and story editor Paul Dini. Some of the first season's episodes were written or co-written by writers on a freelance basis. The regular directors throughout the season were J. J. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (/ˌædᵻˈwɑːleɪ ˌækᵻˈnuː.eɪ ɑːɡˈbɑːdʒeɪ/; born 22 August 1967) is a British actor and former fashion model of Nigerian origin. He is best known for his roles as Lock-Nah in The Mummy Returns, Nykwana Wombosi in The Bourne Identity, Mr. Eko on Lost and Simon Adebisi on Oz. His more recent roles include Malko in the fifth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones, providing the voice to the titular character on the animated series Major Lazer (TV series),Dave Duerson in the NFL biopic drama Concussion and Killer Croc in the upcoming movie Suicide Squad.
Early life and career
Akinnuoye-Agbaje was born in Islington, London to Nigerian parents of Yoruba origin, who were students in the UK. He is fluent in several languages including Yoruba, Italian, and Swahili. He can "get along" in a few other languages, including French. When he was only six weeks old, his biological parents gave him up to a white working-class family in Tilbury. His foster parents had at least ten African children, including Akinnuoye-Agbaje's two sisters, living in their house at certain points. His foster father made a living as a lorry driver and struggled to support the family financially.

Naveen Andrews
Naveen William Sidney Andrews (born 17 January 1969) is a British actor. He is best known for portraying Sayid Jarrah in the television series Lost, Kip Singh in the film The English Patient and Sanjay in the 2002 remake of Rollerball. For his role on Lost, Andrews was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2006, a Primetime Emmy Award in 2005 and received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2006.
Early life
Andrews was born in Lambeth, London to Nirmala, a psychologist, and Stanley Andrews, a businessman, both Malayali Nasrani immigrants from Kerala, India. He was brought up in Wandsworth in the Methodist denomination in what he later described as a "very repressive" upbringing. At the age of 16, while at Emanuel School, he fell in love with his then-30-year-old mathematics teacher, Geraldine Feakins; their son, Jaisal, was born seven years later, in 1992.
Career
Andrews auditioned for drama school and was accepted at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Ewan McGregor and David Thewlis. His studies paid off when he won a role in Hanif Kureshi's film, London Kills Me (1991). Andrews starred in the 1993 BBC miniseries Buddha of Suburbia. He portrayed "Kip Singh" in The English Patient (1996) and Sayid in the popular television series Lost (2004). In 2006, he was voted one of People magazine's World's Most Beautiful People. He starred in Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996), Mighty Joe Young (1998) and Bride and Prejudice (2004). He recently starred as Jafar in the American fantasy drama Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. In 2014 he provided the voice of Sabal in the video game Far Cry 4. In 2015 he starred in Sense8 as Jonas.

Nestor Carbonell
Néstor Gastón Carbonell (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈnestor ɣasˈtoŋ karβoˈneʎ]; born December 1, 1967) is an American actor. He is perhaps most famous for his roles as Richard Alpert in ABC's drama series Lost, and Mayor Anthony Garcia in the Christopher Nolan films The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. He is also known for his regular roles as Luis Rivera on the sitcom Suddenly Susan, and Batmanuel on the live-action sitcom The Tick. Carbonell currently portrays Sheriff Alex Romero on A&E's drama-thriller series Bates Motel.
Early life
Carbonell was born in New York City to Cuban parents Néstor T. Carbonell Cortina and Rosa Ramírez de Arellano Cárdenas. His parents are of Spanish descent (his grandparents were of Catalan, Basque, Navarran, and Andalusian origins). Carbonell's father worked for PepsiCo, which required the family to live for periods of time in London, Mexico City, the Bahamas, and Caracas. His father is also active in the Cuban community, authoring the book And The Russians Stayed: The Sovietization of Cuba. Carbonell has an older sister, Rosa Maria "Mia" Carbonell, a Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Forbes. Former professional baseball player Rafael Palmeiro is his cousin. His paternal great-grandfather, José Manuel Cortina, was a noted Cuban orator and diplomat.

After a mysterious and bloody airplane crash, 48 survivors are left stranded on a Pacific Island... miles off course. It soon becomes apparent that they will not have to cope only with the forces of nature, but with the island's secrets, including the Dharma Initiative, the 'Lost Numbers', the "others" (or hostiles) and the strange black smoke- to name a few. From its very first episode, Lost made no attempt to hide its fondness for perplexing mysteries. True to form, the series finale left audiences absolutely baffled. So if you want to know what really happened on that island, get ready for a deep dive into the ending of Lost. For much of Lost's run, fans worried that the show would end with a "they were dead the whole time" twist. Creator J.J. Abrams and showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse repeatedly denied speculation that the characters died in the crash and that the island was a form of purgatory. Nevertheless, some viewers thought the finale's church-set ending confirmed that they had been lying the whole time, and that the entire show had taken place in the afterlife. This interpretation was also supported by the footage of the original plane crash and empty beaches that aired over the closing credits, which some fans thought meant there had been no survivors. But it turns out that the crash footage at the end was never meant to be considered part of the finale proper. Instead, as an ABC spokesperson later explained, it was included so that fans could, quote, "decompress before heading into the news." The network never imagined that viewers would consider this part of the show's narrative. Furthermore, "The End" takes pains to explicitly clarify that all the events that took place on the island were, in fact, real. After five seasons filled with flashbacks and then flash-forwards, the first episode of season six included something Lost fans were totally unprepared for: a flash-sideways, exploring an alternate reality in which Oceanic Flight 815 doesn't crash, instead landing safely at LAX. And that's not the only thing different about the two realities. Instead of being a con man, Sawyer is a cop. Instead of the strained marriage they had in the pilot, Jin and Sun are secret lovers. And the childless Jack suddenly has a teenage son whose mother is none other than Juliet, a woman he met on the island. One-hundred-twenty-one Lost episodes aired between September 22, 2004, and May 23, 2010. J. J. Abrams, who co-created the American serial drama television series Lost with Damon Lindelof, directed the pilot episode, which was based upon an original script titled Nowhere written by Jeffrey Lieber. Six seasons of the show aired, in addition to numerous clip shows to recap previous episodes. American Broadcasting Company (ABC), the producer of Lost, announced that the series would end after six seasons.
The series follows the experiences of the survivors of a plane crash on a passenger jet, Oceanic Flight 815, which crashed on a tropical island in the South Pacific, with each episode typically featuring action on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character's life. The series also includes stories of the lives of people already living on the island — they include the "Others", who initially antagonize the survivors, as well as a group of people who arrive on the freighter Kahana. Season six features a detailing of the lives of the survivors in a different reality, as if the flight had never crashed. Lost: Missing Pieces consists of thirteen original two- to three-minute clips referred to as "mobisodes" which were produced for cell phones and released between seasons three and four. Multiple former and recurring cast members made an appearance in the series finale.
