Trippin' the LIVEmines: CAMEO, Nasty Promo Midi-CD [1996]

Cameo is a funk/R&B band from New York formed in the late 70's. The group was fronted by Larry Blackmon whose nasal vocal style was once likened to "A robot talking with a mouthful of peanut butter" by a contemporary music critic. Still, with his unique vocal style, high top fade haircut, and sporting a codpiece over his pants, "Word Up" zoomed to the top ten of the US and UK charts in 1986.

Nasty is a live album released in 1996. This is the promotional CD containing 6 songs from the album. The "Mega-Mix" is a remix of the album's live tracks. Check out the live version of "Word Up"!!!

Tracklist:

1. Nasty [3:41]

2. Back and Forth [Live] [5:51]

3. Sparkle [Live] [4:22]

4. Shake Your Pants [Live] [3:58]

5. Word Up! [Live] [6:39]

The Dance Club Classics Zone, Vol. 2 - B

Here's some of my favorite BREAKDANCE ANTHEMS and OLD SCHOOL RAP!

Ellen Dow, a theatre veteran and former dance and drama teacher, is probably best known for her role in Adam Sandler's 1998 movie "The Wedding Singer"; in which she performs an inspired version of The Sugar Hill Gang's "Rappers Delight". This is the medley --- Ellen Dow + Sugarhill Gang --- a real delight!

I love this group.
It's the WIKKI WIKKI WIKKI SONG!!!

This crew's got the B-Boys and B-Girls rockin' all around the world!

Tour de France, Rockit, and Axel F...
great instrumentals for "BATTLE" back in the day...

The legendary rap group who helped ADIDAS pile up mo' money in the bank. Run DMC's cover of "Walk this Way" by Aerosmith featured Steven Tyler and Joe Perry!!! Classic Rock, Classic Rap...

Ha ha ha ha ha --- start kickin'!!!

The diva Chaka Khan with some help from Grandmaster Melle Mel and Stevie Wonder. Then Turbo and Ozone were also featured in the music video.

From the Netherlands, MC Miker "G" (Lucien Witteveen) and Deejay Sven (Sven van Veen), were honored in 2002 as the founders of Euro-House-style, because of their remake of Madonna's "Holiday".

The Dance Club Classics Zone Vol. 2 - A

Let's kick it old school!!! Well, here are some BREAKDANCE MOVIE ANTHEMS that introduced "Street Dance Battles" or "Showdown" to the world. Ozone, Turbo, Remo, Chilly D, and Magick --- ring any bell? Never mind if most of them don't know much about acting, they let their lockin', poppin' and breakin' do the talkin'; and the rest is history. There were those who were alarmed when breakdancing became popular because of the possible injuries that could result from the neck-breaking routines by B-Boys and B-Girls from the 'hood. But there was no stopping the moves and the beat from being brought to a higher level. If you're able to see the movie "Step Up 2" then you'll see how the crews in the street kick it to the extreme!
