    NO publicly available proof suggesting only filed mercy petitions with the British govt on Gandhi’s insistence. Gandhi was in South Africa when the first 2 pleas were filed. He later advised Savarkar’s younger brother to file a petition when brother asked Gandhi 4 help.

    I've said little on the matter, in case NCB had evidence not leaked so far. Bail hearings make clear that his blood tests were clean, only allegation's based on straws like membership of a whatsapp group. Either NCB made a mistake,is covering up, or this is a vendetta.

    Some Historical Facts: Savarkar was lodged in the Cellular Jail on July 4, 1911. Within six months, he submitted a petition for mercy. His second mercy petition was submitted on November 14, 1913. Gandhi Ji returned to India from South Africa only on January 9, 1915.

    When Bapu was in prison in South Africa Ba fell seriously ill, felt she would succumb. Bapu’s associates suggested he apologise & seek clemency from Government so he could be with Ba when end came. He refused, said it would be a betrayal of the cause. .

    173 freedom fighters were executed in Andaman Cellular Jail. 966 deported and named in orginal plaque. 400 of them, mostly communists/ Muslims are now dropped from the new plaque, which lists Savarkar as the second most prominent name. Savarkar wrote mercy petitions, they didn't.

    Rewriting history through sheer lies?! Before Gandhi returned to India from S Africa, Savarkar had already written 2 mercy petitions in 1911 (within months of being imprisoned) and 1913! 1000s of other Cellular jail prisoners never wrote any mercy petition, nor did

    Rajnath Singh was addressing an event for the launch of a book — Veer : The Man Who Could Have Prevented Partition — at Ambedkar International Centre, where RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also present.
