Has anybody else read this novel. I recommend it highly if you are a fan of Naruto. It goes into great detail about why Itachi did what he did.
The number one reason:
Fugaku. Everyone hates Danzo and that's fair but have you read this novel and Fugaku?
Examples of Fugaku being the absolute worst person ever:
Sasuke Uchiha to Itachi:
"Father's coming to my entrance ceremony tomorrow. It's the first big step toward my dream," Itachi's baby brother's dream was to work as a ninja, together with his big brother, in the Military Police Force."
So cute right? Fugaku doesnt give a flying shit. Instead Fugaku keeps hounding Itachi about the importance of Itachi's assassination the next day. Itachi tries to assure Fugaku and remind him of Sasuke:
Itachi: "Tell him...Tomorrow is a big day for you, right?" He gave the smaller boy a push with the power in his eyes.
Sasuke: "Dad...Tomorrow is my—"
Fugaku: "Tomorrow's mission is a very important one for the Uchiha clan!"
His little brother's courage was shattered by the hard words of their father, his mind focused on nothing but the clan. Sasuke lowered his head, a frozen look on his face, as he desperately held back his tears.
Itachi's anger toward his father surpassed his limits. Was the clan that important? Did he not care about Sasuke?
All that Itachi was in his father's eyes was the future of the clan. The man hadn't given a single thought to the fact that his elder son was about to go on a possibly fatal mission. And he didn't even see his younger son.
How could he ever win against Konohagakure with such a narrow outlook?
Itachi then basically threatens to not carry out the assassination JUST TO GET HIS DAD to go to Sasuke's ceremony because Sasuke was so excited about it and crushed that his father didnt care. Idk about you guys but this is just the absolute worst for me. Sasuke was so desperate to earn his father's love and approval so bad and this pos just crushed the hell out of him.
Whats worse is Fugaku was so prideful he didnt even realize the only reason he knew about Itachi's assassination mission is because Danzo leaked it on purpose for him to get confidence that their plot against Konoha was in motion.
Fugaku was talking about the assassination of Mukai the following day. That was what was making Itachi's heart beat faster.
Exactly how much does my father know? And who did he hear about the mission from ?
Why had Danzo leaked information about the mission to his father?
Fugaku despised the village, and here he was being toyed with, via information brought in from the village. His father seemed so pitiable to him, Itachi could hardly stand it
So Fugaku not only easily manipulated and dumb but also a bad person. Wow.
