    I will have to do a longer thread on why this is the end of the Secret Ballot and how cambridge analytica type scandals are going to be common. Plus expect mass deletion of voters. We are definitely going towards a contested election.

    Mr. Rijiju: Everyone wants that electoral rolls be genuine. There is a provision for linkage of Aadhaar and Voter ID. This is not compulsory. It is voluntary.

    Aadhaar Voter ID linking has not resulted in finding any duplicate voters, but only resulted in voters being unable to vote and data leaks to builds voter profiles. Then why link Aadhaar to Voter ID? The Answer is online voting. Telangana has already started experiments on it.

    Short Thread on Voter ID linking idea, where it comes from and why you should care about it seriously. Proposal to link Aadhaar was pushed by Nilekani to ECI. This was executed by ECI in 2014 by terming it National Electoral Roll Purification - Authentication Programme.

    FYI is very much being made mandatory under the Election Laws (Amendment) Act 2021, contrary to SC judgment Govt will create separate Rules which will specify when it's ok to not link . If your reason doesn't fit, then can be deleted from the rolls.
