I can’t tell you how many times I have been out with friends to a bar or a club and just craved a nice comforting delicious cup of hot coco or honestly even a cappuccino. Most coffee shops are closed by 5-6 PM, and every time I’m at a bar and I ask the bartender if they have hot chocolate- they look at me like I’m crazy.
Don’t get me wrong. I like going out every once in a while with my friends or colleagues, and I love accompanying them to bars or clubs. I enjoy the social aspect of it, and I also love dancing. But I rarely want to get hammered or buy an overpriced alcoholic drink that I don’t particularly enjoy the taste of or just pay the same amount for a non alcoholic version (or what is effectively juice). Especially when it’s like evening time, and I just want to unwind without necessarily inebriating myself. And a nice warm beverage almost always hits the spot..
I would so much rather be able to have comforting cup of hot chocolate or even a mocha latte before I hit the dance floor, or just sip something warm and comforting in the evening while I engage in conversation with my pals before I head home.
I genuinely hate how bars/clubs only serve alcoholic drinks or cold juices and how wanting to have the option to drink coffee/hot chocolate makes me a weirdo.
ENT resident here. For those who don't know, children born deaf can typically qualify for FDA-approved cochlear implantation around 12 months of age. The results are astonishing, and I have met many children 3-5 years of age who were born deaf, had cochlear implants placed, and now show no evidence of ever having had a hearing disorder.
The deaf community believes that by treating one of their deaf children in this way, you deny that child the chance to be a part of their community. Fine, maybe that's the case, but this then assumes that these people prefer a child be hindered for the rest of his/her life for the deaf community's selfishness.
The idea that anyone would be ok with letting a child have a handicap go uncorrected for selfish reasons is evil, and I refuse to see it any other way.
All of their songs sound the same…
I always get a lot of flack for this, so I definitely expect it here. But all of their songs sound the same. I literally turn my radio off, or skip songs when they come on a playlist.
All I ever hear is skat, and heavy bass guitar. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they aren’t talented, but people treat them as a staple, and they are definitely not a staple. They are repetitive, and definitely not deserving of the clout they get.
I was at the airport awhile back and while ordering food, the cashier was a Latina woman with a strong accent; everything went well until she asked "Would you like oran nyoos?" and I was like "oh I apologize can you say that again?" and she said "Oran nyoos" and I was like eghhhh and was completely confused, she said it again and getting visibly irritated, and I kept being like "ahhh I don't know what that is I'm so sorry" and she finally points to the picture on the menu, and I was like "OH Orange Juice, no thank you"
The rest of the transaction, she was very irked, and it's like m8, I'm sorry I couldn't understand that. I've never heard any accent say that word that way before, so it's like BOOM quiz time out of nowhere. I'm not being insensitive right? like I'm sure she's heard other people say Orange Juice before, and I understand accents are hard to break, but damn.
Matt Damon is in some heat for admitting that he used to use the F Slur. The Anti Gay one. He said his daughter helped him move past the hateful language and he's a better person for it.
Who instead of canceling him, let's praise him for understanding his past rhetoric was wrong and growing above it.
