I wanted to explore what means to write a poem about racism from the perspective of a white person. What does it mean to inherit white privilege, and what part might not, even subconsciously, want that benefit to shift? This acknowledgement and contemplation inspired my poem.

I hope you've been watching for birds and dreaming up crazy beautiful birdbrained poems! Since this issue is themed, and many people do not write in one line regularly, we lowered the minimum to two poems. We hope that allows more people to give it a go!
