The Beat Ends

I’m sorry to say that the end has arrived.  I was once hopeful that if I fixed bugs and transferred the comment system to Disqus, Writer Beat would grow organically.  I now realize that wasn’t the problem and face the dilemma of continuing to run a site where all of our new users were a product of my personal outreach campaign.  It was a campaign that occupied nearly all of my free time and I was at it for nearly a decade.  So in my opinion the time has come for me to move on.    Best of luck to all of you.

Adios Amigos

Looks like Autumn has decided to throw in the towel. I have enjoyed the site and want to thank her for her efforts. I also want to say goodbye to all of my friends out here who I have conversed with over the years, Yes, even those who despised me, but kept the site interesting to say the least. And …

Foresters’ Cough: A Fable

  1.   Once upon a time, there was an island. On which, there were two realms, each ruled over by a king. On one side the ruler was King Nick, of the O’Hell dynasty. And on the other, King Dopo, of the house of O’Whinger. They were totally different characters; and they had com…

Farewell Writer's Beat!

I've had a lot of fun in my time here! It's too bad it's circling the drain, but as the old saying goes, "The height of good manners is knowing when to leave." Autumn Cote, thanks a bunch for creating and maintaining a singularly unique website! I hope and wish it lives on just as it is, but as it a…

SOMETHING ABOUT CANCER.....

Another topic for a change - not about Trumpie or The Bitch, not about bad Muslims and good Israelis, intolerant PC lefties and stubborn righties.   Nope - about cancer and how the pharma makes its business with us all.    And more.   Watch it.   I guess this is my …

AYN RAND AND MONOPOLY

In another thread, I had begun debating with Nockian about Ayn Rand and her advocacy of monopoly. It was somewhat off-topic for that thread, so I have decided to begin a new thread here before we get any further into the subject.   Ayn Rand advocated two forms of monopoly, so there are r…

Free Speech Is Not Dying

Writer beat was/is the heart & soul of free speech.  At least for me.  One mystery that will always remain, should Autumn never disclose the motive behind this website, is how to market actual free speech, in an open forum, and maintain decorum.   Ten years ago, this may have…

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar — Thank You.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar — Thank You.   Now let Tubularsock get this straight.   OrangeTweet, the brainless wonder, is attempting to promote the idea that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is somehow tied into 9/11 because she is a Muslim?   And the scum-level of the likes of Half-Abort…

The Infinite Possibilities of Beto

For those who haven't figured it out yet.  Beto is running for President but... Beto is done.  Not that this fact upsets me that much.  Beto was an empty shirt, a pretty boy.  Pretty being the whole enchilada :) of his qualifications for President, Senator, or Dog Catcher.  …

Beware the Morality of the Democrats

Most normal people have been raised, or choose of their own accord, to avoid behaving unethically or immorally in relation to fundamental objective principles of right and wrong.  At least, that used to be largely so.    They do not depend on politicians or activists to guide them, bu…

Modern Day Hypocrites

Donald Trump has recently suggested that he may send the many illegal immigrants in overcrowded ICE facilities to Sanctuary Cities, specifically those in California that claimed themselves to be so.  While this is in part is a political ploy, and a very good one, for his part this realistically…

Thank Goodness for ObamaCare

"Thank goodness for ObamaCare." Those are words I never thought I would utter. Actually, I haven't uttered those words, lest friends and family think that I have gone insane. I keep those words to myself. It is true; I don't know what I would do without ObamaCare.   I've been a harsh critic of …

Electoral College, VS Popular Vote, OR ?

Paying Taxes Isn't Patriotic

Today in America income-tax returns are due, which means it’s time for those who worship at the altar of government to trot out the 1904 aphorism by Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.: “Taxes are the price we pay for civilized society.” You want roads to drive on? Clean water to drink?…
