Sirius Satellite Radio is a satellite radio (SDARS) service operating in North America, owned by Sirius XM Holdings.
Headquartered in New York City, with smaller studios in Los Angeles and Memphis, Sirius was officially launched on July 1, 2002, and currently provides 69 streams (channels) of music and 65 streams of sports, news and entertainment to listeners. Music streams on Sirius carry a wide variety of genres, broadcasting 24 hours daily, commercial-free, and uncensored. A subset of Sirius music channels is included as part of the Dish Network satellite television service. Sirius channels are identified by Nielsen Audio with the label "SR" (e.g. "SR120", "SR9", "SR17").
Its business model is to provide pay-for-service radio, analogous to the business model for premium cable television. Music channels are presented without commercials while talk channels, such as Howard Stern's Howard 100 and Howard 101 and Opie Radio do have regular commercials. Furthermore, all channels are free from FCC content regulation, thus songs are played unedited for language, and talk programs may feature explicit content if they wish. Subscriptions are prepaid and range in price from US$14.99 monthly (US$9.99 for each additional receiver) to US$699.99 for lifetime (of the receiver equipment) subscription. There is a US$15 activation fee for every radio activated. Sirius announced it had achieved its first positive cash flow quarter for the period ending December 2006.
The FireKeepers Casino 400 is a 400-mile (643.737 km) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held annually at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan (15 of 36), the other one being the Pure Michigan 400 in mid-August, and it is the first of two Sprint Cup races at Michigan. In 2006, 3M signed a three-year agreement to sponsor the race, but after one year moved its sponsorship to the August race. Starting with the 2008 race, LifeLock had title sponsorship rights for three years pending the announcement by the speedway, but left after two. The LifeLock 400 was the name of the race formerly known as the Banquet 400 in 2007. From 2012 to 2015, Quicken Loans sponsored the race, and was replaced by FireKeepers Casino in 2016.
This particular event had one of the longer title sponsorship arrangements. Miller Brewing Company sponsored the race from 1984-1998.
The 1999 race, won by Dale Jarrett, went without a caution. At an average speed of 173.997 mph, it set the NASCAR all-time record for a 400-mile race.
Satellite radio is – according to article 1.39 of the International Telecommunication Union´s (ITU) ITU Radio Regulations (RR) – a Broadcasting-satellite service.
The satellite's signals are broadcast nationwide, across a much wider geographical area than terrestrial radio stations, and the service is primarily intended for the occupants of motor vehicles. It is available by subscription, mostly commercial free, and offers subscribers more stations and a wider variety of programming options than terrestrial radio.
Satellite radio technology was inducted into the Space Foundation Space Technology Hall of Fame in 2002. Satellite radio uses the 2.3 GHz S band in North America for nationwide digital audio broadcasting (DAB). In other parts of the world, satellite radio uses the 1.4 GHz L band allocated for DAB.
Satellite radio subscribers purchase a receiver and pay a monthly subscription fee to listen to programming. They can listen through built-in or portable receivers in automobiles; in the home and office with a portable or tabletop receiver equipped to connect the receiver to a stereo system; or on the Internet.
Top of my shift-frog in my throat-sleep in my eyes
Startin' to drift, cuppa hot joe, checkin' the sky
Never can tell, makin' my list, checkin' it twice
Fasten my belt, flippin' my switch, checkin' my mic
Is there anybody out there? One-two-three on the
satellite radio?
Big daddy on the air, are you listenin' to me? On the
satellite radio
At the galaxy's end where the stars burn bright are you
tunin' in and turnin' on?
Is there anybody listenin' to earth tonight on the
satellite radio?
Listen to the radio
Listen to the radio
Turn it on
Turn it up
What if they're right? What if I'm wrong? What if we're
kings?
One of these nights-play the right song-telephone rings
Stone in the sea, shot in the dark, splittin' the air
Listen to me, kindle the spark, answer my prayer
Is there anybody out there? One-two-three on the
satellite radio?
Does anybody care, are you listenin' to me? On the
satellite radio
At the galaxy's end where the stars burn bright, are
you tunin' in and turnin' on?
Is there anybody listenin' to us tonight on the
satellite radio?
Listen to the radio
Listen to the radio
Turn it on
Is there anybody out there? One-two-three on the
satellite radio?
Big daddy on the air, are you listenin' to me? On the
satellite radio
At the galaxy's end where the stars burn bright, are
