The show is inspired by the famous humorous column 'Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma' written by the eminent Gujarati writer Mr. Tarak Mehta. This story evolves around happenings in "Gokuldham Co-operative Society" and covers topical issues that are socially relevant. The show predominantly - revolves around Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) who is an uneducated Gujarati businessman. Tarak Mehta (Sailesh Lodha), is his neighbor. Jethalal finds a friend and philosopher in Tarak Mehta and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble. Jethalal's family includes his simpleton wife Daya Ben (Disha Wakani) and a mischievous son Tapu (Bhavya Gandhi). Tapu is a menace and a constant source of trouble to all the members residing in the Gokuldham Society. They have often warned Jethalal to reform Tapu or else be prepared to leave the premises. The short film “The 1938 Unrest”is based on the labour disturbances which took place in Jamaica in May 1938. These spontaneous labour riots and strikes spread islandwide from the sugarcane fields of Frome, Westmoreland to the wharves at the waterfront of Kingston.
“The 1938 Unrest”perfectly captures the emotions of the protagonist, an extremely angry and highly frustrated labourer. He is determined to create significant change by advocating on behalf of other workers for the improvement of working conditions, increase wages and the removal of colonial oppression. These riots forever changed the landscape of the Jamaican people. It signalled the birth of modern Jamaica with the formation of the BITU and other trade unions.
The film is directed, shot and edited by JP Williams of The Studio Eight. JP is a skilled, self taught content creator who has demonstrated his artistic talent as he captures and presents material showcased in numerous productions, eg. television ads, music videos and short films. He continues to offer a fresh perspective with his story-telling skills to the film industry. With “The 1938 Unrest”, JP hopes to bring awareness to Jamaicans and the wider Caribbean about the importance of the historic events of that period.
Jayden Chambers is the protagonist who is a multi talented actor and has co-starred in a television series, been featured in music videos and is the face of a ongoing campaign with the Ministry of Health & Wellness. Jayden aspires to build his performing arts company, Art Dynamics, which is a community for creatives to develop and expose their skills.
The music for this film was composed by Teflon Zincfence, an award-winning producer who is known for creating outstanding reggae music with a heavy dub influence. Jahlil is the writer and singer of the featured soundtrack “Burning”, which encapsulates the emotions felt by Jamaican workers in 1938.

Im November 1938 kommt es zu brutalen Ausschreitungen gegen Juden in Deutschland. Synagogen werden angezündet, jüdische Mitbürger verfolgt und angegriffen. Doch wie wurden aus Nachbarn Todfeinde?
Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert scheinen Juden in der deutschen Gesellschaft angekommen. Aber mit dem 1933 verstaatlichten Judenhass schwingt die Stimmung in der Bevölkerung um. Juden gelten als Sündenböcke, überall wo Unzufriedenheit herrscht. Der bestehende Neid auf die meist erfolgreichen jüdischen Unternehmer wird genutzt, um gezielt ein Feindbild aufzubauen. Die Nationalsozialisten beginnen zunächst damit polnisch-stämmige Juden nach Polen abzuschieben, wo sie jedoch auch nicht aufgenommen werden. Mit dem Attentat auf einen deutschen Diplomaten will der junge Herschel Grynszpan auf die verzweifelte Lage der jüdischen Familien aufmerksam machen. Doch die Propaganda verfälscht die einsame Verzweiflungstat wirkungsvoll zum Angriff einer angeblichen „jüdischen Weltverschwörung“. Es folgt eine bis dahin unvorstellbare Woge der Zerstörung, Brandstiftung, Plünderung bis hin zum Totschlag.

Dokumentární vize se pokouší hledat odpovědi na věčnou, bolestivou a stále se opakující "osmičkovou" otázku: Měli jsme se v roce 1938 bránit útoku nacistického Německa? Jaké by to bylo a jak by to asi dopadlo, kdybychom se bránili? Scénář vychází z existujících vojenskohistorických studií na toto téma a opírá se o odborníky, především vojenské historiky. Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby?

The short film “The 1938 Unrest”is based on the labour disturbances which took place in Jamaica in May 1938. These spontaneous labour riots and strikes spread islandwide from the sugarcane fields of Frome, Westmoreland to the wharves at the waterfront of Kingston.
“The 1938 Unrest”perfectly captures the emotions of the protagonist, an extremely angry and highly frustrated labourer. He is determined to create significant change by advocating on behalf of other workers for the improvement of working conditions, increase wages and the removal of colonial oppression. These riots forever changed the landscape of the Jamaican people. It signalled the birth of modern Jamaica with the formation of the BITU and other trade unions.
The film is directed, shot and edited by JP Williams of The Studio Eight. JP is a skilled, self taught content creator who has demonstrated his artistic talent as he captures and presents material showcased in numerous productions, eg. television ads, music videos and short films. He continues to offer a fresh perspective with his story-telling skills to the film industry. With “The 1938 Unrest”, JP hopes to bring awareness to Jamaicans and the wider Caribbean about the importance of the historic events of that period.
Jayden Chambers is the protagonist who is a multi talented actor and has co-starred in a television series, been featured in music videos and is the face of a ongoing campaign with the Ministry of Health & Wellness. Jayden aspires to build his performing arts company, Art Dynamics, which is a community for creatives to develop and expose their skills.
The music for this film was composed by Teflon Zincfence, an award-winning producer who is known for creating outstanding reggae music with a heavy dub influence. Jahlil is the writer and singer of the featured soundtrack “Burning”, which encapsulates the emotions felt by Jamaican workers in 1938.

Im November 1938 kommt es zu brutalen Ausschreitungen gegen Juden in Deutschland. Synagogen werden angezündet, jüdische Mitbürger verfolgt und angegriffen. Doch wie wurden aus Nachbarn Todfeinde?
Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert scheinen Juden in der deutschen Gesellschaft angekommen. Aber mit dem 1933 verstaatlichten Judenhass schwingt die Stimmung in der Bevölkerung um. Juden gelten als Sündenböcke, überall wo Unzufriedenheit herrscht. Der bestehende Neid auf die meist erfolgreichen jüdischen Unternehmer wird genutzt, um gezielt ein Feindbild aufzubauen. Die Nationalsozialisten beginnen zunächst damit polnisch-stämmige Juden nach Polen abzuschieben, wo sie jedoch auch nicht aufgenommen werden. Mit dem Attentat auf einen deutschen Diplomaten will der junge Herschel Grynszpan auf die verzweifelte Lage der jüdischen Familien aufmerksam machen. Doch die Propaganda verfälscht die einsame Verzweiflungstat wirkungsvoll zum Angriff einer angeblichen „jüdischen Weltverschwörung“. Es folgt eine bis dahin unvorstellbare Woge der Zerstörung, Brandstiftung, Plünderung bis hin zum Totschlag.

Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby?

The show is inspired by the famous humorous column 'Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma' written by the eminent Gujarati writer Mr. Tarak Mehta. This story evolves around happenings in "Gokuldham Co-operative Society" and covers topical issues that are socially relevant. The show predominantly - revolves around Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) who is an uneducated Gujarati businessman. Tarak Mehta (Sailesh Lodha), is his neighbor. Jethalal finds a friend and philosopher in Tarak Mehta and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble. Jethalal's family includes his simpleton wife Daya Ben (Disha Wakani) and a mischievous son Tapu (Bhavya Gandhi). Tapu is a menace and a constant source of trouble to all the members residing in the Gokuldham Society. They have often warned Jethalal to reform Tapu or else be prepared to leave the premises. The short film “The 1938 Unrest”is based on the labour disturbances which took place in Jamaica in May 1938. These spontaneous labour riots and strikes spread islandwide from the sugarcane fields of Frome, Westmoreland to the wharves at the waterfront of Kingston.
“The 1938 Unrest”perfectly captures the emotions of the protagonist, an extremely angry and highly frustrated labourer. He is determined to create significant change by advocating on behalf of other workers for the improvement of working conditions, increase wages and the removal of colonial oppression. These riots forever changed the landscape of the Jamaican people. It signalled the birth of modern Jamaica with the formation of the BITU and other trade unions.
The film is directed, shot and edited by JP Williams of The Studio Eight. JP is a skilled, self taught content creator who has demonstrated his artistic talent as he captures and presents material showcased in numerous productions, eg. television ads, music videos and short films. He continues to offer a fresh perspective with his story-telling skills to the film industry. With “The 1938 Unrest”, JP hopes to bring awareness to Jamaicans and the wider Caribbean about the importance of the historic events of that period.
Jayden Chambers is the protagonist who is a multi talented actor and has co-starred in a television series, been featured in music videos and is the face of a ongoing campaign with the Ministry of Health & Wellness. Jayden aspires to build his performing arts company, Art Dynamics, which is a community for creatives to develop and expose their skills.
The music for this film was composed by Teflon Zincfence, an award-winning producer who is known for creating outstanding reggae music with a heavy dub influence. Jahlil is the writer and singer of the featured soundtrack “Burning”, which encapsulates the emotions felt by Jamaican workers in 1938.

Im November 1938 kommt es zu brutalen Ausschreitungen gegen Juden in Deutschland. Synagogen werden angezündet, jüdische Mitbürger verfolgt und angegriffen. Doch wie wurden aus Nachbarn Todfeinde?
Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert scheinen Juden in der deutschen Gesellschaft angekommen. Aber mit dem 1933 verstaatlichten Judenhass schwingt die Stimmung in der Bevölkerung um. Juden gelten als Sündenböcke, überall wo Unzufriedenheit herrscht. Der bestehende Neid auf die meist erfolgreichen jüdischen Unternehmer wird genutzt, um gezielt ein Feindbild aufzubauen. Die Nationalsozialisten beginnen zunächst damit polnisch-stämmige Juden nach Polen abzuschieben, wo sie jedoch auch nicht aufgenommen werden. Mit dem Attentat auf einen deutschen Diplomaten will der junge Herschel Grynszpan auf die verzweifelte Lage der jüdischen Familien aufmerksam machen. Doch die Propaganda verfälscht die einsame Verzweiflungstat wirkungsvoll zum Angriff einer angeblichen „jüdischen Weltverschwörung“. Es folgt eine bis dahin unvorstellbare Woge der Zerstörung, Brandstiftung, Plünderung bis hin zum Totschlag.

Dokumentární vize se pokouší hledat odpovědi na věčnou, bolestivou a stále se opakující "osmičkovou" otázku: Měli jsme se v roce 1938 bránit útoku nacistického Německa? Jaké by to bylo a jak by to asi dopadlo, kdybychom se bránili? Scénář vychází z existujících vojenskohistorických studií na toto téma a opírá se o odborníky, především vojenské historiky. Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby?
